  • On the first weekday of every month at 11:45, the Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency (Hi-EMA) and its county partners conduct a monthly test of the Statewide All-Hazard Outdoor Warning Siren System for Public Safety. This test is to help the counties identify any problems with the sirens and ensure their functionality. Please report any non-functional sirens to Hi-EMA or the county's EMA.

Congratulations on getting the first proper shot of this MC powered beast! Still can’t believe I heard this particular Mod & the Kalakaua ‘Bolt all the way from Ala Mahamoe Street! The voice from Fort Shafter was crystal clear from the Moanalua area as well.

Nice! Have you recorded the Federal Signal Modulator 6024-B at Kalama Beach Park yet?

No, I haven't recorded that siren, but I have photographed it five times in 2023, all on separate dates.
Before you ask, I don't have plans to record it this year or in 2025, as it doesn't pique my interest. Unlike a particular 1000/1020 Hz siren that's nearly impossible to record.

Very nice, I recorded the Kalakaua bolt today as well. It was in perfect working condition.

Nice video! Happy to hear that this and ol' Kalakaua Tbolt are still running strong! I remember this mod was one of the first few sirens to get me interested in Sirens as I always passed this one alot going into town. 🤙

Chances are the Kalakaua Thunderbolt will be around for quite some time at least. With over 20% of the state’s sirens nonfunctional/requiring significant repairs, all the flagged sirens should be seeing repairs/replacements long before the Bolt gets replaced. Currently, It’s the only Thunderbolt labeled as fully operational/no maintenance required according to the current state list. They would be foolish to replace a perfectly working siren when over 90 others are either dead entirely or failing due to lack of maintenance. With the way our state’s money is currently being spent, I don’t see any major widespread repairs being performed any time soon. What concerns me even more, is that sirens less than 10 years old have been neglected to a point of failure in our state. Relying on strictly solar was a poor decision on the state’s behalf. AC power is almost always available at nearly every siren location. Relying on grid power to primarily charge the batteries, & solar as a backup would be far better than relying strictly on solar panels which have been proven to fail quite often. Seems like our state is more concerned with blowing billions of dollars on a failed rail system & new stadium than repairing its public safety infrastructure!

@@oahusirens but we have seen the state be stupid in the last before. Why did they trash all the older working sirens then..
