Thank you for an unbiased review. I have test driven both Safari and Alcazar; although I enjoy sitting higher in the Safari with a slightly better ride and handling, little things with TATAs trigger my OCDs as a perfectionist. The unresponsive and laggy infotainment system, unfinished paint job, panel gaps, very hard-to-press horn, slightly unreliable acceleration response, and the overall fit and finish are some of the many things that get to my nerves in TATA Harrier/Safari. Alcazar, on the other hand, is not as fun to drive; you also sit very low. However, once you get into the cabin of Alcazar, you notice a night and day difference. Right from the finishing to the technology, you enjoy it to the fullest, but you don't enjoy the commanding view from a Harrier/Safari. Then, you hear stories of TATAs inferior service and dealership scams, which I don't know if they are true on not; I recommend you do your own research. Both vehicles have their pros and cons; it totally depends upon who you are as a person. If you are a graphic designer, an artist, or an overall perfectionist like me, TATA WILL get on your nerves; if you don't mind fit and finish and can overlook the little hits and misses, you may consider TATA. Again, before we fight in the comment sections, I highly recommend that we test-drive these vehicles ourselves and have an open mind.

@vikrant : Questions: Will thick metal sheet provides additional safety or air bags improves the safety?. I came to know the VW polo scores 0 safety ratings but scored 4 star with airbags in place. I guess, number of airbags decides safety rating and not the thick metal. Please clarify.
The thickness of the metal has nothing to do with safety. Every aspect of the car has to be designed to dissipate the energy involved in a crash away from the passengers (hence new cars have body panels which deform more easily than ones in older cars) and include airbags which slow down the impact for passengers directly. Safety can also be improved by better seatbelts, headrests, seat design etc. Better brakes, ABS, ESP along with steering and brake assist systems etc also boost safety ratings- after all, a crash prevented is better than a crash happening at all.

@@vikrantsingh6916 Yes definitively. My heart goes with Safari . But somewhere brain is interrupting for Alcazar. The value for money is definitely Alcazar and one should put money on it. Tata should really upgrade few things in Safari atleast few features like 360 camera, Good quality infotainment screen, Good infotainment UI, Good reverse camera, Wireless charging and Third seat entry.
Really!! Hyundai Alcazar?? I think you should guide buyers towards safer car rather than misguide them. When will you stop glorifying the Korean toys against the true DNA of what car should stand for? You yourself spoke about lightness of Alcazar while comparing the acceleration time and that speaks about the built quality that you can expect from Alcazar. We can live without fancy touchscreen or ventilated seats but not without a safe car.
Of course, different people have different needs. If you like a heavy car because it conveys a strong build quality, it’s completely your prerogative. As we see it safety has many aspects of which crash test results are only a part of it. I believe - and I have mentioned this in another comment here - the best kind of crash is that doesn’t happen. So, have things like good visibility, ease of driving, light but accurate controls, good ergos, and the ability of a car to react to sudden inputs without going into a tizzy, all make up the safety co-efficient. I would give more weightage to active safety features than passive ones. And even when it comes to active safety features, it’s the calibration, the response time, and its ability to react precisely in a given situations hat makes all the difference. I wouldn’t rate two cars equal if both have ESPs; it’s the way these respond to wayward inputs that separates the cream.
@@vikrantsingh6916 , you buy SUV to take on bad roads, should be sturdy in built, should have good driving dynamics, should be long distance tourer without any fatigue.. That is where Safari Scores. I believe Safari is loaded enough that is required on everyday use. Yes it does not have fancy features but its better drive and overall safety compensates for it. Yes best the kind of crash is that it does not happen but when it had happened ( found in so many videos uploaded in youtube Creta crash vs Harrier crash ) you will know what is the difference between Hyundai build and Tata build. yes Hyundai is nimble to drive in city but that is all. I shall never be confident to take it on highway with family. All I am saying you should stress on important technical aspects of the automobile, the safety, engineering part of it and put your judgement rather than just features of functions.
@@theindianexplorer2439 I think he is right- structural safety is defined by the skeleton or the frame- how the energy is dissipated without impacting the cabin- the metal sheet is just a layer of metal...even the thickest will deform if you strike it even with a small hammer

Typical desi journalist review...to get more enamoured by the ",feel good factor" and features offered , which Hyundai does in abundance to make up for it's lack lustre driving dynamics etc. The Safari is far more accomplished in more vital parameters such as build quality, ground clearance, ride and handling and performance. Even the third row is better in this case besides it offers all other vital features and bells and whistles that are necessary. Pllus it is more butch looking as an SUV.. The Alcatraz has a more MPV ish stance..! The Safari should be the clear winner as a 3 row SUV and cruiser.
@@CarWale no one expects one to have the same point of view or prioritizes. But as auto journalists who claim to know a thing or two about cars…it is imperative you highlight more vital parameters when reviewing autos esp SUV’s…such as driving dynamics, build quality, ground clearance etc rather than talking about features such as kids having a place to put ipads etc….blah…
@@KARAMSINGH-ld9xq You don’t have to like what we say, we get that. And could we highlight which is better built? Surely. But to do that we will have to spend more time with the cars. Issues rarely crop up in the first week or month. We can always look at the history and see which make or model has had issues and which hasn’t. And if you are as astute as you say, you’d know which way the balance tilts on that front. Now, if you are confusing build quality with heft, then that’s something we would like to steer clear of. Now, about ride and handling and performance, I think we did touch upon that. And the Safari was the clear winner on that front. But was it enough for us to recommend the Safari as an overall product over the Alcazar? No. Cause the Indian car / SUV buyer prefers vale over all else. How else do you justify Creta outselling the Harrier by such a huge margin. And if ride and handing was all the Indian consumer cared about, wouldn’t the likes of Skodas and VWs be ruling the roost given the dynamic prowess their cars pack in? In fact, if that the case, the Compass would be outselling the Hector. We are here to offer consumer buying advice. And we want to touch upon and address bits that we feel and have realised are most important to the Indian car / SUV buying public. And again, I am not asking you to agree with us. But give us the courtesy of knowing our audience.
@@vikrantsingh6916apprecaite your point of view but .you've just reiterated my point. We desis do tend to base our final opinions and find favour with products on the feel good factor and the frills that come with it. While those things should matter (remember the Cielo that actually ushered in the gizmo revolution and forced the Esteem to pull up it's socks) but in the peculiar and dangerous conditions we live in India, we as citizens really need to give more emphasis to safety and other vital parameters. Am glad the Government is paying heed to these and making basic safety features mandatory by law. Don't get me wrong, I too am a sucker of features and I dare say I own a 630i Beemer GT , the face lifted 3.2 2019 model Endeavour, a Jeep Compass and have recently bought the Tata Nexon EV. All these have one thing in common....the safety, build quality, driving dynamics being given prominence. Agree that the Creta sells more than the Harrier . Primarily because their brand equity is much higher than a Tata that had been plagued with a notorious past. That does not necessarily imply that it is a better product. Proven yes but better not entirely...!!! How else would one justify the Fortuner outselling the Endy? Is it better than the Endy?? No way....it just has a stronger brand value... The Endeavour is more accomplished in virtually every front. To give the devil it's due, Tata products have truly come a long way with issues of reliability being a thing of the past. Before my EV purchase , I drove the Tata, Kona and MG EV back to back.... while the Tata had the least range and has spartan features, it majorly trumped the others in ride comfort, dynamics, rear seat sitting posture, the build and just the fun to drive factor. I just think it's about time we base our opinions on parameters that hold one in good stead given our road conditions and fatalities on our highways. Things that should matter ....safety, build quality (heft included!) Ground clearance, driving dynamics etc. I find a lot of auto journalists always base their final opinion on value for money. Agree we live in a price sensitive market where we want the best at the cheapest cost....maybe we can prob base our final verdict on the product per say and then at the end finally bring in the value bit. For instance, I actually think the Safari gives more bang for the buck (even though it is a lakh or two more expensive than the Alcazar) given it ACTUALLY competes with the Compass (given they even share the same power train) and not the Creta or a derivative of it ! The Compass and a lot of VW and Skoda cars are usually overpriced but as products they are far superior to their rivals. For instance, the new Octavia is leagues ahead of the Elantra it competes with. So, what one should conclude in a review maybe is that as a product it is better but as a value proposition the Elantra trumps over it. We don't necessarily have to opine on what our "Indian audience" wants to hear but should also inform them on what should also matter. That would be a fair assessment. Just my 2 bits that should be taken constructively. No offense meant...cheers 👍

Thank you!
Why don't you see the third row seating shoot...
Alcazar 1.5 L diesel is underpowered need 2.0L diesel and above to be in the Race
Load the cars with passengers, Then you will see the performance difference!.
Yes. That’s exactly what we said. And the difference could go up by up to two or three seconds. The question is - how often would one use these as six seaters…
@@vikrantsingh6916 exactly.
@@vikrantsingh6916 pretty much needed that is why someone buy 6 seater instead of 5 seater.
@@kaustaubh1234 There are performance videos posted on RUclips and as per them, there was no much difference only marginal.
Awesome comparison 😍
Thanks Rajan!

We will. Stay tuned!

Safari the best
Safari does ride and handle better, we agree.
We have stated the factors why we think the Alcazar is better, everyone need not have the same priorities.

Without viewing this video, I am sure that it's over priced FUV (Fake utility Vehicle) Alcazar who would have won in their comparison! 😝 😝
