Mince and Tatties Mince Ingredients: 1lb ground beef 1 lrg onion or 2 med onions diced 2 lrg carrots diced 1 tsp thyme 1tsp black pepper 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce 2 cp beef stock or to cover 2 cubes beef bullion 1 tbsp flour Salt Tatties Ingredients: 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cut 1/4 cp butter 1/2 cp milk 1/2 tsp pepper Salt Optional: 2 tbsp sour cream or sub milk for heavy cream INSTRUCTIONS Mince 1. In a large saucepan over a medium high heat, brown the beef while breaking it up. Add the onions, the thyme, the beef bullion and continue to cook on medium high until the beef has browned and the onions are translucent. Add in the carrots. 2. Add flour to the browned beef and veg and stir. Add the beef stock and the Worcestershire sauce. Stir some more. Turn the heat down to a low simmer, cover with a lid and cook for around 30 minutes or until the mince is soft and the gravy has thickened. Salt to taste. Tatties 1. In a large pot bring heavily salted water to a boil. Add in potatoes. Cook until fork tender. 2. Drain potatoes. Add in butter, milk and pepper while mashing till reaching preferred texture. SERVING We generally prefer a bowl over a plate but to each their own. To a heap of hot tatties add a large knob of butter and ladle on the mince. Over top or on the side. Doesn’t matter. Enjoy!
