    About Me and the Helicopter
    • I have been flying for about 20 years. My nearly 4,000 hours of flight time is in Robinson R44, Robinson R22, and Bell 206L (Long Ranger) helicopters.
    • The helicopter is a 2005 Robinson R44 Raven II -- the same one that appears at the beginning of the video. You can learn more about them here: robinsonheli.c... I own this helicopter. It is the third helicopter I've owned since 2000.
    • My helicopter has ADS-B Out and is picked up by radar facilities. You can see my track for recent flights on Flightradar24: www.flightrada... This is a great site for tracking any almost any flight, including the airlines.
    About the Video
    • The video was recorded with a GoPro Hero 8 camera (amzn.to/2PBlZ4o). I dialed down the helicopter sound by 12 decibels from normal volume so it wouldn't be annoying.
    • The video was edited on a iMac using Davinci Resolve 16 software. Learn more about it here: www.blackmagic...
    • Narration was added during the editing process with a Røde Podcaster microphone. Learn more about Røde mics here: en.rode.com/mic...
    • The intro music is by Bob Levitus, famed "Dr. Mac." You can find him here: www.boblevitus....
    I TRY (really!) to drop videos on Sunday mornings and "extras" with more info about owning and operating a helicopter midweek. (Some channel members get early access to some of these videos.) I also host occasional livestreams with Q&A chats. SUBSCRIBE and turn on the notification bell so you don't miss anything new! And tell your friends. I'm trying hard to deliver good videos and grow my subscriber base.
    Some links on my channel are affiliate links, including all links to Amazon (amzn.to/32PLHTD) and MyPilotPro (mypilotpro.com.... If you click one of them and buy something, I get a small referral reward. It doesn't cost you anything so I hope you'll shop with one of those links. Thanks.

    Definitely look across that canyon! They are EA-18G growlers out of Whidbey on the VR-1350 route. Love the video!

    @Maria - Once again, I can't say enough good, about your narrations and great video (I'll keep trying though) ;-) The military aircraft - I did wonder if they use or at least monitor CTAF, along with their onboard systems to avoid collisions with GA. As an additional aside, I did get to watch part of a mid-air refueling, from my window a few weeks back; I believe it was a C-17(4-prop), dispensing the fuel with a Chinook, drafting starboard-side, and a common config helo, drafting port-side! What made me even look up was that it didn't sound like _'any'_ airplane or helicopter, I'd ever heard before - then seeing that configuration coming out of the horizon - I was as baffled by the appearance as I was by the sound! Got the binoculars out and sorted it out - lol! Cheers-

      That refueling sight must have been very cool! I don’t think the military jets around here monitor the CTAF, but I’m sure they have radar to spot GA traffic. I’ve been buzzed by jets in this area as well as in Arizona.

      @@FlyingMAir - Yeah, I suspect that they're fully aware, and will do all the avoidance on their own! And yes, I feel privileged to have seen that refueling! Cheers-

    Maria. I do enjoy flying with you. You really handle that bird well !! And watching you going back and forth over the cherry trees is a true mark of your skill. You make it look easy, but we know, it’s not. Be safe.

    What kind of work did you do with your r22 when you started flying?

    • @FlyingMAir
      @FlyingMAir  3 года назад +1

      Not much. R22s aren't suitable for most commercial flying work. I did a few photo flights and the occasional solo ride. I don't think it's possible to have a profitable helicopter business with just an R22 -- unless, perhaps, you want to do flight training.

    Hi Maria, is drying cherries dangerous? Seems like with the low altitude if you have engine problems no time for autorotation

    I'd love to see a flight over Rock Island; specially the Hammond Lane residential development next to the Rock Island golf course, the surrounding lakes and a slow fly over of the golf course and new trail system. My house is being built there, adjacent to the golf course and the driving range and it would be awesome to get a close up of the area from above. Thanks Maria,
    Micheal

    Great video! Question for you - when you're flying just from point A to point B (not drying fruit) what is your typical altitude AGL?

    • @FlyingMAir
      @FlyingMAir  3 года назад +2

      I typically fly at 500 to 1000 feet AGL.
