I'm a habitual FD'er so to speak lmao. It actually started to become detrimental to my play cause I was spacing my opponent out even when they were negative. Videos like this are super helpful for me to understand what mindset I have to run in order to properly use FD without wasting my bar. Super useful. Keep cooking those up, SQ.
The biggest thing to keep in mind is that even if the results are not immediate, unlike YRC or reversal super, presenting FD as an option to force the opponent to adjust gives pretty good value. When you use FD against a character like Sol, he HAS to do something in response to being FD'd. It causes his fS staggers to go onto a limit before he has to take a risk to get back in or back off.
Really loved how you went into specific, common examples for situations, as well as explain what happens when you don't use it, use it incorrectly, and use it correctly. Very useful resource, keep up the good work!
I’m telling yall rn, if you’re looking for something to change in your gameplay and you don’t use FD, do it! About a year ago I was in that floor 10, celestial limbo where I’d have to wait pretty deep into the month to get celestial. The use of FD alone got me to being consistent, start of the month 1-5 tries and we’re in. Tangent> It’s not just that the mechanic is amazing, but it makes you actually think when blocking. Before using FD I just blocked to block, but using FD made me turn my brain on during pressure. This opened the door to playing *actual* defense. Paying attention to what my opponent is doing, and taking strategic risks, instead of just mashing or backdashing or jumping because I feel like it. Tldr FD is no joke, use it use it use it if you’re stuck on 10f
Crazy good video! It never clicked for me that FD'ing c.S will let me delay mash. This is a game changer for me cause you just added a whole new layer to my defense (and I've been playing since release 😅).
FD 2 hit in to fuzzy jump honestly has been the thing witch made me go from struggling on floor 10 to getting celestial challenges fairly often now I just got to figure out how to go from getting the challenge to actually being celestial
A minor point of optimization that people can start doing is not holding FD throughout the whole blockstring, and instead press FD before you get hit. I think you do save just a little bit of meter. It's not much, but meter is meter.
I main Pot, and use K and P for FD. There are sooo many cases where I dont press them at the same time (since I am used to Kara canceling) and explode in a counterhit. Really wish I learned it with the macro, but now it feels like im too deep in to adjust. Also good video 👍
This Johnny was using FD on everything so I just started saving up meter and spamming Ram laser from across the screen at every opportunity. Instead of dodging he'd always FD it. He died fullscreen to a laser. His reaction when he ranout of meter mid-laser is MINE TO HOLD FOREVER.
No body play on my region. so i play at JP region. People of my region also go there to play. Usually got around 100+ms. trying to IB usually ended me not blocking. i think the most requirement on IB is when you on knock down and going to get attacked on wakeup. there a nice timing where you can input grab after IB but fast enough for it not active on wift. I'm am currently lose very much against weaker opponent that still combo after whiff(mashing combo). trying to block on reaction doesn't work when the frame skip it to high on number. Also I think PRC is verry good mechanic, it lose strong on counter jab thou .I think instead of using meter to extend pressure, it better to use PRC after ender special move. PRC make you can still win even your opponent already push a button(not jab thou). slow the action enough you can see you opponent start action, DP and super starter is verry easy to see. PRC gonna force you opponent on high alert and sometime force them to gamble. I also use BRC instead of super to increase combo damage. it allow high damage special move to use and the slowdown allow it to be connect latter. And my opponent know that my BRC can kill them they start to hold the burst and allow small conversion and pressure to corner. I ended up cutting my combo to allow me on better position, and combine with PRC, my opponent usually forcing themself to block all the time. the moment they got there turn, they will make sure they hold the pressure all the time and sometime make a reckless move and make them prone to use grab to force knock down. I just need to catch the first fake grab and they wont fake grab anymore. I'm not a pro player so i know that not the limit of PRC and BRC use, or maybe it only work on low level player. I don't see pro player use it verry much either. but it work for me. Combining IB PRC BRC. i really like how my gameplay going on. but losing on combo masher really put me down. example. on knock down opponent Ky use 5k then i IBFD his close slash and he wift delay far slash, i input dash then he still use delay special move. i don't block, or do i. Many example and I'm sure it "just" mashing combo. and i "just" lost. "just" lost is not fun.
want to mention one thing. If you can use fd micro just use it micro is NEEDED。For example if you want do a fuzzy block somehow you not aware your meter so you press 7 p+k to do chicken block but cause you don't have meter your character will do jp instead in this cade you just doom. So to prevent accident you NEED micro. But micro won't effect drop speed so you still need practice the tempo.
When should one forwards air dash ? Besides getting out of the corner and dodging certain special moves, when should you ever do a forwards air dash instead of a forward jump or a ground dash ?
I was thinking about this the other day doing the celestial challenge and thinking how the floor 10 players I stomped hardly every use FD (let alone block lmao). I play Ky so it really forces me to change my offense and get creative.
There's too many buttons to bind ffs. left hand is alrdy busy with 5 just for movement. right hand has 5 alrdy too for attacks. I only got 10 fingers. U got to make the choice what keys are double taps vs dedicated. Run/burst/RC/FD.....there's not room for all 4 as dedicated. Wasting a slot for binding taunt isn't even a consideration.

Yay for digestible, broad case use educational content. As always, I appreciate these kinda videos!

i didn't pay $60 to block rahhhhhhhhhh
😂😂😂
Then push them away with FD so you can mash better

Liked and subbed. Killer video. I definitely haven’t been using this enough (aka barely at all). Defs be working on this living forward! Thanks :)
Liked and subbed, this video was eye opening and I'd love to see more content like this
A timeless guide for this game for sure

definitely starting using FD this patch to avoid chip damage and create space advantage

You dont need burst bound imo
bro what? just hit slash and dust to burst lol. You have enough buttons, trust.
why you need 5 button for movement.
Also why need burst micro?
