It was dead when I got it to the boat I kept it and kept it on ice and bled it and took the guts out took it to a local after I cleaned it and took it to him and steaks in a package. He was the most thankful man I’ve seen in months if not years, the locals treasure these next time I might keep one after seeing how the locals treat their food. I'm sorry but is this a charter, are the 2 people on board just there footing your fuel bill while your high speed trolling and big commercial electric reels catch the fish not an angler, gotta wonder what your charging them for this trip, do you sell your fish. I fished Kona Hawaii for a living and this is not a charter, what do the anglers get out of this except a boat ride and a fuel bill...what bullshit.
I think it's actually the other way around. Ryan and Adam are along for the ride. Probably they probably have no problem doing the work as they are supplying the boat, fuel and tackle.
Learn how to gaff a fish!!!!!! All the fancy electric reelsa d marine electronics etc, but you gaff the ono right in the middle of the body ruining some of the meat plus you can't control the one's head with that mouth full of the sharpest teeth!!! I've seen guys get careless with ono and get so severely cut by the open mouth of razor sharp teeth, they nearly bled out and died!!! Just saying, be careful and in Hawaii, we don't gaff our fish in the body and meat or tail or any of that bs! I have been commercial fishing on the Big island of hawaii where I was born and raised and live on my custom built Force 30 fishing boat for 40+ years now. I know of an idiot that gaffed a 50 lb ono and just flew it over the transom carelessly without looking and it came off the gaff with its mouth wide open like usual and it's mouthhit the back of a guys leg behind the knee and it basically fileted the guys entire calf muscle and it cut deep to the bone and all the way down to his ankle!!! His meat and skin and calf muscle were laying on the deck , attached by a small piece right on the back of his ankle!!!! Fortunately they were fishing right outside of Honokohau harbor in kona and because it's so deep right off the shore on the big island the 40 fathom ledge is literally only 50-100 yards off the lava rocks! So they got him right into the Harbor and an ambulance came but he was bleeding out and almost died ! He had to be stabilized then air medivaced to Honolulu to a good hospital where he underwent reconstructive and vascular surgery!!!! I've always been extremely careful with ono because of the teeth and I caught a lot of them over my life!! The Bahamas I heard had ono (wahoo) over 100 lbs up to 150 lbs whi h is one of the best places to catch really big ono!! We rarely catch 100 lb ono in Hawaii but .y friend caught a 120 lb ono!! My biggest was 85 lbs and she had 18 lbs of roe/eggs in her!! It was well over 6 feet long and as big around as my waist!!! It's head was massive!! Caught it on a small lure with 6 inch skirts and on 300 lb Sugi (mono) leader!!!! Very lucky it didn't cut the mono leader a d lose it!!! Makes me wonder, how after losing so many lures trolling with mono to ono how there must have been a 100 pounder but in Hawaii we have lots of big ahi/yellowfin tuna in the 200-300 lb size and they rarely ever bite cable or wire leader. Even the ono, I get way more bites on mono and I don't lose too many. I fished way up in the northwest Hawaiian islands all the way up to Midway Island and there's banks out there that when the ono run, we catch over 100 a day and they hit every lure at once over and over! Then I was usu g 300 lb test braided stainless aircraft cable leader and they are so wild they don't care!!! Yeah 100 lb ono off some banks and ledges in the Bahamas at least back 30-40 years ago I heard was epic!!@ Figi in the south Pacific has the huge 100-150 lb ono too!!! There and the Bahamas I heard were some of the best places to catch 100 plus lb ono!!! Just work at it and you can gaff them in the head every time with concentration discipline and patience!!! Catch some of those monster ono the Bahamas were famous for!! Aloha from beautiful Hawaii

Learn how to gaff a fish!!!!!! All the fancy electric reelsa d marine electronics etc, but you gaff the ono right in the middle of the body ruining some of the meat plus you can't control the one's head with that mouth full of the sharpest teeth!!! I've seen guys get careless with ono and get so severely cut by the open mouth of razor sharp teeth, they nearly bled out and died!!! Just saying, be careful and in Hawaii, we don't gaff our fish in the body and meat or tail or any of that bs! I have been commercial fishing on the Big island of hawaii where I was born and raised and live on my custom built Force 30 fishing boat for 40+ years now. I know of an idiot that gaffed a 50 lb ono and just flew it over the transom carelessly without looking and it came off the gaff with its mouth wide open like usual and it's mouthhit the back of a guys leg behind the knee and it basically fileted the guys entire calf muscle and it cut deep to the bone and all the way down to his ankle!!! His meat and skin and calf muscle were laying on the deck , attached by a small piece right on the back of his ankle!!!! Fortunately they were fishing right outside of Honokohau harbor in kona and because it's so deep right off the shore on the big island the 40 fathom ledge is literally only 50-100 yards off the lava rocks! So they got him right into the Harbor and an ambulance came but he was bleeding out and almost died ! He had to be stabilized then air medivaced to Honolulu to a good hospital where he underwent reconstructive and vascular surgery!!!! I've always been extremely careful with ono because of the teeth and I caught a lot of them over my life!! The Bahamas I heard had ono (wahoo) over 100 lbs up to 150 lbs whi h is one of the best places to catch really big ono!! We rarely catch 100 lb ono in Hawaii but .y friend caught a 120 lb ono!! My biggest was 85 lbs and she had 18 lbs of roe/eggs in her!! It was well over 6 feet long and as big around as my waist!!! It's head was massive!! Caught it on a small lure with 6 inch skirts and on 300 lb Sugi (mono) leader!!!! Very lucky it didn't cut the mono leader a d lose it!!! Makes me wonder, how after losing so many lures trolling with mono to ono how there must have been a 100 pounder but in Hawaii we have lots of big ahi/yellowfin tuna in the 200-300 lb size and they rarely ever bite cable or wire leader. Even the ono, I get way more bites on mono and I don't lose too many. I fished way up in the northwest Hawaiian islands all the way up to Midway Island and there's banks out there that when the ono run, we catch over 100 a day and they hit every lure at once over and over! Then I was usu g 300 lb test braided stainless aircraft cable leader and they are so wild they don't care!!! Yeah 100 lb ono off some banks and ledges in the Bahamas at least back 30-40 years ago I heard was epic!!@ Figi in the south Pacific has the huge 100-150 lb ono too!!! There and the Bahamas I heard were some of the best places to catch 100 plus lb ono!!! Just work at it and you can gaff them in the head every time with concentration discipline and patience!!! Catch some of those monster ono the Bahamas were famous for!!
