Agreed. So many cool things. 3-D prints. Door-to-door delivery. Microcontrollers cheaper than potatoes. But most of all, COPY/PASTE someone else's work. :)
It is very cool how the micro controller works right out of the box with out any programing. And even cooler still how the things draws what you are thinking without any divine intervention.
This update is brilliant thank you. I made the original plotter (thank you for sharing) but the pen holder was a pain in the butt. This looks so much better!! awesome job man! Also can you make a laser engraver version .. would love to see that.
Hello thank you very much for your contribution a question of where you got the smooth bar for the support of the pen thank you for your attention and hope soon the video of how to operate it greetings.
you're welcome. i got the smooth rod using a 3mm stainless steel shaft. if you cannot find one, you can cut it from something which has a 3mm SS shaft, such as a bbq Skewer. video to operate the machine coming soon. thanks!
Hi there, nice project! I'm not able to find the wires info inside BOM .... Can you help me with the info about the wires to connect the main board and motors? thanks. best regards
Hey, for the CNC Shield when i supplied 12V 2Amps to both the drivers it didnt move. But it worked fine with one driver connected to CNC shield. (Something to do with current) Is there a way to fix this?
I am having a stepping problems, it takes HUGE steps when set the steps to 1 using UGS the SG90 servo motor does not move the the pen up or down, it just flicks 1 mm left and right I am using arduino uno and the cnc shield arduino ide 2.3.2 What am I missing Otherwise fantastic project, good fun so far
Hello, can this be used as sticker cutting machine? I mean Can a cutter/blade be incorporated insted of a pen. If yes, what are the changes that I will have to do. I am a complete beginner at this. Great Video. Thanks
Thanks for the video. I built my brother's old robot, but for some reason the carriage doesn't move. The holder with the marker only puts dots in one place. Did you have this problem?
I built the plotter according to the instructions in the first version. But I still can't get it to work. I would really need a detailed step-by-step guide on how to revive the plotter after connecting the arduino to the computer. I only know generate G-code in Inscape.
Check out eggbot instructions. Depending of which electronics you have Clone/original the Pins are different. Sometimes you need a capacitor (detach during flashing Firmware/Code) for the Servo arm, sometimes you need to bridge pins
I build it also, like it a lot! Cannot get Inkscape to create Gcode (GCode tools) get script errors. Would like to get some instructions on that. Also having problems with arduino losing connection. Changed USB cable added ferrit rings to the steppers, keeps resetting. To plot .SVG's i tryed GBRL plotter, that works fine, but also losing connection resulting in plot job stopping. What could be the problem with the arduino?
I put mine together but the steppers won't move. They buzz but they don't fully rotate. I ended up burning the stepper drivers somehow. So until I get a few replacement parts delivered I am unable to figure out the issue.
When placing the drivers check twice where gnd pin is. Check documentation of drivers and the cnc shield to find the best possible resolution (1/8 1/16 1/32). Make sure the power source is minimum 12V2A, I had similar issues with Sound&No movement when the power source was too weak
@@mikelabruna9976 check wich cable pairs belong to eacgh other. I did have 2 steppers both where different, als having the effect of a buzzing stepper.
every video in youtube has incomplete about such project. because no software related information are there. the begginner cannot understand this diffuculty but those who really work in practical field know it very well. These video have no value without the software portion
you can check out my channel, i have made a separate video to explain the software setup. this video is certainly valuable for someone looking for assembly. check the link in video description for software setup
yes you can expand the size. i would recommend to not go beyond A2, as you will have to balance the weight of the X axis motor and the aluminium profile. also the belts tend to loosen more often on longer lengths. thank you
i have the CAD files available at a very cheap price. you can download the files and get them 3d printed from a local 3d printing service. check the BOM list or the video description for the link for files.
you can use this on any paper, such as drawing book, assignment notebook, large sized drawing sheet, or even a whiteboard, which cannot be inserted into a desktop printer
Slowly getting there, the biggest thing that was wrong was the current setting on the drivers so I dropped it right down, added jumpers for micro stepping, installed grbl1.1f, calculated steps, increased speeds, now I just need to work out Z and import drawing.
I got there in the end, found a suitable version of grbl with servo controller instead of spindle, changed a couple of other settings in firmware and now up and running, I look forward to see how you did it in case I missed something
Two ways to make it even better. When you use the eccentric nut at 1:50 you have to use eccentric nut on the other side into the same screw. The screw has to be able to move within eccentic nuts from both sides not only on one plate. Can you combine the stepper motor plate with the big plate? Why use extra screws to secure it and take some more space? Very nice, I am going to build this with my kids, Thanks.
Nice Project, i have download paid version of files. if you can mention the part name along with part photo, that will be better. slightly confusing about parts name. Thanks

30 Years ago, when i was young, such machines where unaffordable in the price range of some thousand dollars. What a time to be alive. :)
people has been bulding this 20 years as a home dyi projects. Yes, steppers and drivers wasnt as much cheap as today, but still hardly unaffordable.
sorry, not 20 but more then 30 years ago. Without FB, YT, and internet at all.
These "20 years ago" posts will look funny in 20 years.

Nice game changing improvement idea...now calligraphy pen can take part
That came out very well. Would be great for drawing with etch resist on copper clad pcb.
great build...bought the stls...really well thought out

I bought cad models! Thank you! Good Luck
How can I enable limit switches in GRBL and/or UGS? Also can I also set the machine size somewhere in GRBL or UGS? Thanks!
Amazing build
Nice. I will start to build your project.
Add variable pen pressure plus variable writing speed and we have a perfect signature forger.
You proved it bro!

I am going to give this build a try, on a slightly larger scale, I purchased your STL files from Cults3D, thanks.
Bro send stl files broo please🙏
would you send stl?? Please
@@MrAndis25 I redesigned all the parts for a large scale. Going to sell a kit with all the parts. Still testing.
Parabéns, a melhor que vi até agora.
hello :) it would be very perfect if you would write down what option should I buy in aliexpress link you provided
I want to do this but with an inkjet printhead :) how do you think that can be accomplished?
Could you tell me what software you use to write???
bro that is so cool
Can I use an SG90 servo instead of the MG90?
What os the software to create cnc programs?
Share the buy link for the complete setup.
very nice project, comes the programcode for arduino with the 3d print or what software do you use to print drawings?

my project stop or hang when run gcode file in UGS.
what kind of pen do you used?
Hello, I loved your project, the V wheelSet wheels, what size do they have, because here there are two sizes, thanks for your attention
hi, the wheel size is big one
Im very interested in how you made the robot write text in a single stroke!
Bro can you plse share the 3d printed parts photos or measurements
Now add a third axis, uv light, a custom marker and print with UV resin. :)

What infill for PLA 30%, 40%, ???
I've built it using your design. What software are you using?
What’s the dimension of rubber feet set?
how are you giving inputs? how are you communicating the machine to draw the image or pattern?
check out my other video on how to operate the machine

In the last line of para written by CNC, conductor spelling doesn't have "con". Anyways, nice work on different pen holder.
Can you give Garber file
Bro i have build the 1st version but it doesn t connect to ugs any solutions
Please make laser cutting and engraving machine (like sculpfun)...
Any body tell me where 3d readymade parts available..?
where can I find the inkscape steps to make the Gcode for a signature for example
i have made a separate video kindly check video description for link
Thanks for the great video. What limits it to 500mm?
I’m guessing it would fall over as the arm is only supported from one side
Please add a provision for laser module. It will enhance its utility.

Hello!
Could you build it with old printer?
I have dozens here and i dont know what to do
Sure you can. Simply 3d print the files, and then assemble from parts from your printers that you no longer use.
just a tip. i made 1 based on clone arduino, got lots of errors. replaced clone with guinuine, problems solved!
How to invert the x axis direction
simply remove the motor wire, invert it, and plug it back into the board, to invert the direction
Great Work ! Can we expand it to A1 or A0 size ؟
yes you can expand the size. i would recommend to not go beyond A2, as you will have to balance the weight of the X axis motor and the aluminium profile. also the belts tend to loosen more often on longer lengths. thank you
@@SuperbTech but if we change the design a little bit, maybe with adding an other Y axis aluminium profile to enforce the X axis ...
The best

What is the length of the 2020/2040 extrusions?
its 400mm each. you can also use 500mm. i have added a BOM file in the description, you can check.
@@SuperbTech sorry sir...youve written "40mm each" length in your description... thats why he asked you the length☺️
Can you use A4988 drivers?
used 4988 drivers just have to put 3 jumpers on cnc board and adjust 250 to 80 in the grbl settings for x and y
I thought about making one of these then thought, why not just use my literal desktop inkjet printer. Still seems like a fun project though.
Because this simulates drawing. Inkjet printers have pixels.
you can use this on any paper, such as drawing book, assignment notebook, large sized drawing sheet, or even a whiteboard, which cannot be inserted into a desktop printer
please give me the 3d printed parts design.
Can I buy one from you?

i have printed in PETG, you can use either PLA or ABS

i have added a BOM file in video description, you can check. i have also added source design file link.
Its superb.....whats the cost bro?
