      Thank you for doing just that. I'm a woman and feel so angry. The laws in that state let Mica and many other people who have been through a similar situation. We must vote accordingly because I see this country is heading down a road of "glorification" of men in power. Women's Rights are being taken away at an alarming rate yet no laws to protect a woman but a law quickly established to "restrict access to abortion". No laws to "restrict assault weapons and guns". Senator Lindsay Graham is a joke.

    Mica' Law should be passed in both South Carolina and North Carolina! Coercive control should be legal in every and all states!
    The coercive control law should be named Mica's Law. She will be the reason it's passed!

    Unfortunately, 'church people' won't change. I've been a Christian 35 years in Southern California. I left my last church 2 years ago. A couple in their 60's, only Bible readers for 2 years, were controlling the finances. The woman got a job with the local church pro-life center and hired me to do office work. I discovered this Center's executives were 'skirting' the law. I complained to the local church people; they were afraid to do anything. My bank informed me that this Center was trying to break into my bank account using my Direct Deposit routing number (which I had given to the Center in good faith to get my paycheck). I could go on about alleged 'ministers' who are just individuals with the sin of self-aggrandizement.

    • @sunshinechildofgod2771
      @sunshinechildofgod2771 Месяц назад +1

      Has nothing to do with church people, it has to do with ignorance and believing in a person the just could not believe could be evil. There are millions of women and men living in slavery and fear because of a spouse that does this, and they are not all religious or Christian.

    • @RottieParade-ro9bu
      @RottieParade-ro9bu Месяц назад

      People please investigate your churches. Anyone can read a Bible. Check out the churches requirements such as an degree, professional instruction from accredited schools to learn Hebrew, Latin etc. due to the knowledge needed to consider how scripture has been translated. Also many sound established Christian churches have clergy educated in sociology, social work and the like etc to be able to service the needs of their flock so to speak. Many clergy in established churches have written books, for example a doctorate requirement is a thesis which is basically a book of a certain topic…anyone can make a church, but most established faiths have high standards of anyone representing that church to a community. That is why they have not fallen. Your heart is open to Christ and I know He will lead you to find fellowship with his flock in a upstanding Christian church.

    My heart breaks for Mica. My ex husband is a lot like JP. Just without being a leader of anything with a following.
    I think she endured a ton of mental and emotional abuse. I think he may have had something on her, some secret, something he at one time convinced her to do, and he threatened to make it public. She felt there was no other way out. This was her only way to be fully free from his threats and abuse. My heart goes out to her family.

      My ex was like that too. He tortured me mentally to the point of thinking the only way to get free was suicide. Thank heavens I made it out alive - barely. I was so mentally bad off for YEARS after getting away. I'm doing better now and thanks to a coercive control law in that state (I've since moved and remain in the federal/state DV address protection and forwarding program), I was able to get out and keep my child safe.

      @@HeatherGraceThat had to contribute to a great deal of healing to be vindicated, heard and believed by especially the law. I wish this was available to so many more. I was never believed, supported, nor helped by anyone. He turned every lawyer, the judge and my support system against me and not in the way one would think tho when it came to my support system. Most were happy to see me fail, with those being closest to me saying I never should have left him, when examining the shambles I had become. Cause.. yeah. I guess they felt like I deserved all of it? So even if they weren't happy, they certainly didn't believe me. So I lost everyone. Except my mom and my children. Thank God, he REALLY didn't want them. I think if he were older and didn't want to go out partying that he absolutely would have went ahead with taking them. He just threatened it constantly and convinced the judge I was manipulating the children against him. It is UNREAL what some of us have to go through. It should be illegal to prevent someone from the pursuit of happiness but I understand it is difficult to say the least to prove, and prevent.

A year ago I moved in with a family member after 2deaths in my family and found myself at the mercy of a coercive controller. Thankfully we are not married, I have my own car and money I refused to turn over. I would have left months ago, but had a bad shoulder and elbow injury right after moving and it’s taken a year to have 2 surgeries and recover enough to move. I close on my house on June 7!

Found out later on that he had deadbolts on all doors so nobody could leave the house if He didn't open them. He held guns to his wife's head and threatened her life. She finally stood up to him, so he convinced her he had ppl watching her and following her with cameras so he could take the girls away. She overdosed accidentally one day on the couch. He should have been charged with murder, but in stead he took their kids back to Michigan from Charlotte NC and raised them there with another woman. I tried to convince the lady to get out and take the girls to a theme park but she wa too terrified of his threats. He ruined her life to the point she became addicted to her anxiety meds. I hate it! We had a couple at our church, nobody would imagine or believe that the husband was abusive and controlling to the point the wife has ZERO bank accounts, ZERO control of their properties etc. She finally put her foot down and told the church she needed help. People spent hours and hours helping her prepare a restraining order with evidence of text and email threats, and where she found cameras all over the house where he was monitoring her, and her car had a gps added to it. The just before court, he convinced her to go see him and after a few, she cancelled going to court. He had sent members of his family to the church to disrupt and cause fear, and threatened to send his sons to shoot up the church and other danger if she didn't come stay with him. So, in her mind she is protecting the church and living in slavery and fear under her cheating husbands rule. Her children have no clue, because he has sold himself as a sweet country guy and smiles like a charmer. None of us had a clue anything was wrong. This just happened a few weeks ago. I am praying for the Lord to move on the lady's behalf, because God's Justice will be harsh on him. Praying she escapes his cohersion. Had she gone to court the next morning, he would have been fully exposed to friends, family and all who know them. He is posting on Facebook how much he loves her and how awesome their relationship is.
    With Mica's law, how would someone be protected from a wolf like these men? She has to come forward... Their children are brainwashed by the father, their grown sons and in-laws believe him and not her. WHY DO PEOPLE NOT BELIEVE WHEN THEIR MOTHER/SISTER/IN-Law SPEAKS OUT!

    In my home state, even regarding physical abuse, the police will tell both parties that they must go file formal reports. They also say that whomever files first will be considered the victim. Like this has been outright stated by officers. Imagine how delighted an abuser would be for another opportunity to make themselves appear to be the victim.

    She can’t call it that bc she is not a clinical psychologist, BUT she is linking Narcissistic abuse and Law into one. Something I have know to be a gap on.
    I am so delighted to know she is up to something . Just the fact that she is putting words into this type of abuse is HUGE validation for those of us who have suffered at the hands of these demonic and toxic people . GOD BLESS HER and may she get far with this , not only for Mica, but for the thousands of women who can’t find the right help .

    I like that it serves to protect any victim of coercive control, not just husbands or wives. I love that we hear JLR hollering out the first question to come to my mind about the retroactive status. I think it’s just so tragic that it took this to bring everyone here. As a survivor, I can see so much movement happening but it feels like it never does go anywhere.

      The problem is that if the enforcers and judges do not follow it, like they usually do… it will not be useful. Both parties should be held accountable and investigated if they don’t follow through

    Phone was probably/possibly/apparently swapped anyway since all her belongings found left Lumber River State Park before being handed in to police by fisherman.

    I’m late per usual! But Man, this attorney is shredding it!! Love it! She’s calling everyone out!! I feel like MM was so fed up and felt she had no way out…she came at peace with her decision and took her life. So so so sad!! I understand MM’s pain as I am familiar with it. I hope she is at peace but what a loss. She could have gone on to do so much and help so many even all over the world! RIP MM💚

    We have had this coercive control law in the U.K. Since 2015
    The problem with it is getting the police to take it seriously and investigate when reports have been made, same with stalking laws, the police failings in both these laws are concerning

    Just because someone is ordered not to tamper with property before it is handed over doesn't mean it won't happen. My ex was ordered to hand over an atv and he damaged it before he gave it to me. No one did anything about it

    I went through psychological horrible abuse as well. As physical abuse, by the very grace of God, I was able to escape, and God healed my mind after a nervous breakdown. It was horrible ,till this day. I look back, and I wonder, oh my gosh. How did I survive only by the grace of God❤

    This lady is awesome! All law enforcement should definitely be trained in Narcissistic Abuse! It’s AS BAD if not WORSE than physical abuse. There are many types of NPD and ppl should learn how to look for it. Whether to
    Save yourself or another family member bc it’s quite regular these days. I learned by reading blogs and books by HG Tudor. He describes their thought patterns as well and their actions.

    It really very emotional for me to continue listening to the law in it’s entirety. I almost puked because it brought back so much for me personally..
