Mark my words. This is a marketing strategy. The sales must be dwindling, lol. Sooner than later they will re-introduce this bag, "due to demand". But the buzz will be there and the prices will rise even more.
Doubt it. They don’t want the 2nd hand market saturated with their bags. These bags were special and given to only a certain number of people. Now everyone!!! Can go get a 2nd hand bag. The bags are still coveted and popular. Just because you’re broke don’t mean that their sales are “dwindling” 😝 you’re silly.
Overheard another shopper’s convo today and she was inquiring about Himalayans and her SA didn’t mention them being discontinued. 25s are 85-87K USD 30s are 95K USD And corporate personally selects globally who’s offered the diamond ones.
I do feel at some point they did but the scarcity bites them. However, in the tanning process leather crusts are white with no pigment so they need to re color the pigments. Or if they are not using white crust they maybe are using different dyeing processes for the Himalayans if they are not painting it over the scales. However, this doesn't sit well as this theory will mean that the white part will yellow so fast if untreated like the Vert Celadon or Vert Natura the predecessor of the current Himalayans.
This may also be a supply/demand issue. Hermès, from my understanding, has a heavier investment in Mississippiensis (Alligator) farms in the US. LVMH has a larger and much more balanced portfolio of Niloticus (Himalaya), Porosus, and Mississippiensis. As more LVMH houses (Vuitton, Dior, Fendi, Celine, Moynat) begin producing their Himalayan versions (only Niloticus is used for Himalayan) the less top skins are available. Hermès has long been rumored to receive some of its skins from LVMH. They may no longer have access to a consistent stream of top Niloticus skins. That was the issue with Chanel and Versace; they largely left the exotics market because they owned no farms and couldn’t get the top skins. Vuitton offers a white gold and diamond version of their Sahara in the Capucines range.
Good morning Cassie!! That's crazy that Hermes would even consider to discontinue the Kelly pouchette. It's a popular bag, especially since they're so rare. Bad call on discontinuing the Birkin 20 and the Himalayan Birkin. If the market is there for these bags, it's not smart to stop making them.
I wonder what reseller will make of it. I'm respectful of their job but tbh I'm a bit tired of their provision, them wanting bank transfer (so bay bay chargeback/paypal), their mercy. They act as if they save us that much money. On one hand yes but on the other - Hermes games - you pay and get items, more or less useful. Here you pay 20-40k for a bag of unknown condition and you have "what if it's a fake" in your head.
I am new to luxury bags but have been hearing that u cannot get one and when u do get one u might not be offered the one u want. If we are spending this kind of money I feel that they should have the quantity
I would love to see Hermès introduce a brand new bag, equally amazing and jaw dropping as the existing models that people would go crazy over 😊 It’s time.
Do u believe they make their own designs? Or do u believe they’ve taken designs of time periods and just used quality work to lead the luxury market? Cos really, look at the dome shaped bag…. It was a design for a time period. Then all of a sudden Hermes is renowned for bolide but LV also said nope, we r renowned for the Alma.
@@Anoranow I do believe most of their iconic and recognisable designs are theirs: Haut a Courroies/Birkin, Kelly, Evelyne, Arçon, Halzan, Herbag, Geta, Constance, Lindy, Picotin, Verrou, Maximors, Petite Course, Della Cavalleria… The Bolide is said to be designed in 1923, the Alma in 1925. At the end does it matter? It’s only ONE bag. ☺️
@ you may be heartbroken that the birkin and Kelly are not anything unique either. During the Industrial Revolution from 1700’s to 1800’s trapezoid shaped bags were common place. These bags were made by anyone during that era. In 1841, a wealthy entrepreneur commissioned a luxury leather company at the time (H. J. Cave & Sons) to make some of these trapezoid shaped bags for his wife (she became the first woman to own a luxury designer handbag), before Hermes caught on to the trapezoid shapes styles and changed their Sac a depeches briefcases to what they called Kelly bag. Even the sac depeche briefcases were common at the time. Nothing special to Hermes. All these so called iconic styles were created way b4. I say all this to say, if u waiting on Hermes to bring any original styles, then u may wait a lifetime. They don’t originate styles. They pride themselves on quality stitching and good leather.
I love my Hermès ready-to-wear, 2 days ago I bought a Jypsière 28 in Gris Meyer palladium hardware for running errands, etc. and I’m in love with it! I really want to get the mini Jypsière in Bleu France.
The 60 Minutes piece from yesterday is quite interesting. He explains the brand as “costly” vs “expensive “ meaning the components themselves are high value and quality vs (my words here) The $53 Dior tote that is “expensive “ at $5000 but the components are not quality. The hand stitching itself is absolutely amazing.
The bags are not worth the money. I went crazy buying Chanel, Fendi, Prada, Dior, Bottega, Celine throughout my adult life and 2 yrs ago I bought a collection of Chanel and Fendi. 2 yrs later I wish I didn’t. I find them ALL a rip off.
Hi Cassie, Hermes is like the Sports Bentley, and LV/Dior is like the Audi 8. Different clientele. I love Hermes, the others, not so much. Thanks for the inside info.
Bought a bespoke Himalayan Bag last year at a small Artisan owned business in Italy who also produced bags for big designers in the past and I paid around 5k. I couldn’t wrap my head around paying 20K+ for a branded one and it really scratched that itch. I really love the bag, the craftsmanship is absolutely amazing but most of the time it sits in my bag shelf, I prefer to use my Kelly 25 because it’s less flashy 🙈
I was at work and only caught a little of the program. I'm glad you had the deets for us. Thanks as usual Cassie for a fab video. I'm hoping the at least keep the small bags.
I feel like out of all fashion houses - if Hermés says something is too fiddly or hard to produce then I am side eyeing them a bit - as they are THE craftmanship house
Hello beautiful Cassie. The style & fashion guru. This is interesting. I think there is a PR strategy here with an agenda. Time will truly tell. Blessings lovely. 💜💜💜.
Oh those micro birkins haunt my dreams 😭 in a sakura or vert criquet or bamboo. The pochette is such a cute bag, the discontinue will probably drive up resale unfortunately, it’s a lovely style but very specific to the trend cycle we’re in right now. Where I live a little top handle only bag is never seen in the wild 🤭 I hope and pray I can get my hands on a birkin 20, it’s been on my wishlist for the past two years! (Whispering) I am not a fan of the Foubourg 🤭🤭🤭 I think it’s so gauche, and I know people love it but it just doesn’t do it for me! Crystal Minkof has one and she was flaunting it to Kyle Richards who seemed pretty jealous at the time.
The rumors of the pochette being discontinued have been circulating for months now but in the UK the Kelly pochette is still available to be added as a wish bag whereas the Kelly cut is not, which makes me think the Kelly cut has indeed been discontinued but the Kelly pochette is still alive and well?! Or maybe it’s something in their pipeline to discontinue it…?
Totally agree!! I won't give them a dime of my money now! Really it's just a game to make lay people 'want' it. But in reality it's only for the elite. Well they can have their crap and I am super content with mine!
Yes. Spending and if not then finding a trusted reseller is difficult enough. Even if the bag was unused it was who knows where and it's not the same than receiving it from Hermes itself. Not to mention, for 30k plus customs (for me, being from European Union). Games are too tiresome, far away from mean and stupid. But also paying reseller that much for a bag (and no, no exotics, not popular colour, less than 10k in the store). I'd prefer having jewelry, blankets, client history than spend 36k on a bag and give money to someone whose job it is. So both options are too headache inducing for me.
No they are not going to discontinue it. I just had a talk with one of the Head office member in my local store and they are my friend and nope, it’s not getting discontinued.
Luckily I know where they get their skins ( they are from the US), if no one needs the brand to validate themselves just have a custom piece made. No shade, I had to have an HAC from Big H and it was worth the wait. Now I just order the exotic skins and have things made. Other great options are Peter Nitz out of Switzerland, his work in impeccable and perhaps beyond H craftmanship.
60 Minutes had an episode on Hermes on Sunday (yesterday) and it was so interesting to see the bags being made entirely by hand by artisans. No mass production and a shortage of craftsmen is why their bags are hard to get and expensive. I suppose they need to concentrate on building bags that are in higher demand 🤷🏻♀️ so they are dropping a few products from their line (for now, anyway)…
Saw that, and I came away from it feeling their only selling point on how their different and justified the cost for the customer was saddle stitching and the fact that their hand assembled. Ridiculous! I would never spend that much on a bag. I would feed alot of hungry children instead.
Mark my words. This is a marketing strategy. The sales must be dwindling, lol. Sooner than later they will re-introduce this bag, "due to demand". But the buzz will be there and the prices will rise even more.

Profits are actually up so I don’t think it’s a sales issue
This is why Ms Cassie is one of the best. She does her research, great job Ms C………🤗🇨🇦

Hermes, the Luxury House that doesn't just stay in their lane, they CRAFTED the Lane and then added Diamonds on the curbs.
Well said!
Hermes has it own DOT
I used to think that the Himalayan crocs were made from albino Crocodiles 😅
Nonono, crocodiles with a very rare white and grey pattern 🙋♀️
They are decidedly _NOT_ albino crocodiles. They are decidedly made from Himalayan crocodiles.

@ Did u know Goyard is older than Hermes, founded in the 1700’s and started making Dome shaped bags before Hermes could even think of making them?
@ Yes and no. 😊 Look, I am aware that Hermès didn’t invent the dome shaped bag. I was talking about their iconic bags. The Bolide is nothing unique.

Unfortunately i think micro bags are being phased out , a SA at dior told me they are discontinuing the micro saddle bag
Maybe they're trying to influence trends because why... they charge almost a as much as larger sizes, so much profit
