First off, I LOVE your chatty, fashion/business videos. They’re always my favs. I totally agree with you! - I was also readying Lauren Sherman’s newsletter Line Sheet (really really good she gives such great reporting especially with the business side of fashion) and she was mentioning that Gucci plans to keep Sabato and have no plans in switching creative directors anytime soon. Apparently the clothes are selling but there’s just not a lot of it. They’re being sold in small quantities and the RTW is very expensive…..BUT it’s selling. The accessories I’m not obsessed with. The weird slim, semicircle bag and the strange one you mentioned in the video? Idk...cause at that price point they’re competing with Chanel minis. I used to LOVE Gucci!!! It was my go to brand all through my teens and 20s. Well… both Gucci and Versace. That was in the mid to late 1990s to early 2000s. I do still like some of their shoes but every time I go into the boutique, I walk out empty handed. The last time I was in there was a few weeks ago and I inquired about a bag that I had seen online and the SA told me that it was from a season or 2 ago. That was the second time I was given information that was incorrect at this store. And I feel, as you’ve said, that the brand identity is just not what it used to be. Hopefully they will find their footing again and hopefully they will make sure their SAs in store know the product. That’s one reason I love shopping luxury. I love the history and the heritage of the brands. But I feel if the SAs don’t know the current lineup, they probably don’t appreciate the brand they work for enough and that makes me shop elsewhere. 🤷🏻♂️
Luxury ready to wear i feel is one of the biggest scams out there. The print on the clothes dont match at the seams for most of them (and they charge thousands for their shirts etc), might as well buy zara at that point.
I've always loved Gucci but I never knew why specifically, cuz I only find a couple of pieces I like in there whole collection. I'm not a ballet flat girl at all, but these are so cute!!
Love your videos Cassie. Do you think a 90s Tom Ford aesthetic (power dressing sexy and sleek) would work in 2024? Would love to hear your take. Personally, that is the aesthetic that I think suits the brand the best.
Pricing is a big thing nowadays, people are more aware of how much their spending and want to ensure their paying for top quality items. Totally agree on giving people time, it’s always going to take time for someone to fully realise their vision and for those around them to buy into and contribute to it. I love the burgundy he’s come out with, a lovely pop particularly at this time of year. Let’s see what else he comes up with.
I absolutely love the new items from Gucci and am excited to see these pieces IRL… unlike some other fashion houses Gucci has maintained their quality quite well I also like that they have various price points throughout their collections and that they’re pricing isn’t outrageous compared to the sizing of the actual handbags… I’ve noticed that ALL of the fashion houses especially LV and Chanel annual pricing increases across their entire product line which is totally ridiculous… it’s typical to pay a little bit more when a company is trying to reinvent itself shouldn’t be a ton more tho
I have two pre-loved*jklux* that people left the stickers on, and when you remove them, the hardware looks different than the hardware right next to it that the sticker didn’t touch. It’s not because the other has scratches, the sticky stuff affected the finish.
De Sarno’s A/W 24 is amazing - some of the best knitwear I’ve seen. But SS 25 is amateurish. I was surprised it was approved to come down the runway. The aspirational customer sees Gucci as a discount brand, but I think Gucci’s RTW has always been high quality. Hopefully, De Sarno finds his footing soon.
Me remembering nearly all the bags from the jag collection in *xbagy* other apartment on the dimond tray.. I think i watched that video like 40 times. Purse collection goals..
@@CassieThorpe, as some who once sold luxury handbags, I can guess why Fendi is underrated. The luxury bags that came back most often because the seams were coming undone, zippers broken, clasps broken, etc was “allegedly” Fendi. I don’t own one, and I don’t want one.
Very interesting point of view, I think after the Dior tote scandal , they were charging $3.500 for a bag that it costs $83. Channel with a record amount of quality deficiencies . I find myself less and less inclined to spend my money on them.
Mmmmmm i’m kinda into the new Gucci burgundy color! I love burgundy to begin with and i’m so glad a luxury house has decided to embrace it as their signature color. Or else I would have been sort of stuck on Chanel because their linings are burgundy so they also do a lot of burgundy pieces.
I love the Rosso Ancora color, the Signoria kitten heel, and the new half moon bag- especially in the longer version. The look is beautiful, classy, sexy/powerful. It also goes from day to night easily. And the lipstick was sold out everywhere until October. To me, Gucci dominated the fall.
I'm looking forward to the bright green and orange horsebit pattern for Sp/Su 2025. It's the only thing from the show that stood out to me and that I want. I love all things mid century modern and these pieces just make me happy.
I personally love it, in the photos and videos I’ve seen it’s more turquoise than teal, it doesn’t seem to have that much green in it. Anyway, here’s my philosophy of handbags and shoes, of course we need several pairs - sandals flats, boots, etc - of shoes in black. We also need our going out mini bag, an everyday bag, and a tote in black. Beyond black (and maybe brown or navy, but I’m not a brown or navy gal myself) every color is chosen because it’s freaking cool and will compliment your wardrobe. I love bottle green and leopard for shoes or bags, I have the cutest Prada leopard mules :). I can also even love a red handbag, but please no red shoes over age 10. Back to your question, I can see that Gucci bag being a really versatile color, it’s dark enough that it will look great with your fall & winter grays, blacks, pastels, etc, and then it’s light enough that it will work with your spring & summer whites, navies, pinks, etc. It would look so great styled super preppy - white blouse, navy blazer, faded jeans, tan suede boots and that turquoise/teal bag. I can also see it with almost any work type suit. I think the question is, what doesn’t it go with? And the answer is style wise, something super frilly or gossamer, and color wise it would probably clash with some lightish to medium shades of blue, and some yellows. It’s such a classic shape, I love a true saddle bag, and I love that the trim is leather, because there is nothing more difficult to take care of in the world than a suede handbag. That calf trim will take most of the “abuse” not the suede. So have I talked you into it ;) I should have confessed that I own at least four light to medium blue handbags, I find them very versatile. And I find that the more unusual something is - either in shape or color, it is far more timeless than a boring taupe bag. You won’t want to use it every day for months, maybe for a month, then swap out, so you won’t get tired of it and it will always seem fresh when you use it again. (I tend to carry a bag for about a month, then swap out, so I only use about 12 of my bags per year. It makes pulling out a bag you haven’t used for a couple of years seem like I’ve gone shopping in my closet.) Final thought, the Gucci burgundy red that Cassie is very big on is pretty, but it really goes in and out of fashion. Burgundy has been having a moment for last 12-16 mos, so it will be OUT again soon, and when it goes out, it is so out you would not want to wear it at all. That turquoise/teal color isn’t in style, I don’t recall it ever having been a trending color (greenish teal was popular in the ‘80s), so it won’t ever be out of style either. And Cassie is right about the enameled interlocking Gs, that’s a very pretty and semi-subtle logo, waaaaay better than the running Gs (aka Marmot Gs).
This video really comes in handy for me. As I have an appointment with my sa at Gucci tomorrow. I’m afraid I have to try those Ballett flats 😅 thank you so much for this video. Very well summarised and entertaining. I like your job choice ❤
I just picked up the Jackie bag in red patent at Harrods while visiting London. At least Gucci is doing different things. When I walked through the Chanel area, all the bags are the same classic just different colors. And the Chanel hobos just looked cheap to me.
I don’t think anyone does red better than Gucci. I was so drawn to the ancora rosso crinkled patent Dionysus so much that I bought my first Dionysus ever. My gosh the quality, the color and the leather interior?! It’s amazing!
for me, i’ve come to accept that i was more of alessandro michele for gucci enthusiast. i have pieces from different eras of his tenure and i just don’t think folks like me will carry over. i just don’t love the direction- every now and then ill see a piece like the platform loafers and im like hmmmmm but i have to confess Bottega and Loewe have taken my coins these past couple years with the niche offerings and craftsmanship as one of their main brand tenets. don’t get me wrong- i will never part with my gucci bamboo 1947 collection- they are my version of a kelly/birkin. but i’ve decided to move on after being a gucci loyalist and vic customer for the past 16 years. ❤
Gucci- nothing to see here (yes, boring)…I think overall lots of higher level luxury is losing out to the quality and innovation from mid-level brands. Loved all old horsebit. The Jackie, although apparently doing well, can also be found in so many great iterations in the mid-level. Even Coach has a nice version. Love your insights. Fab video.
Gucci is my number 1 for shoes and clothes, I also have few bags and quality is very good. SAs in Gucci are the best and visiting Gucci store is always very pleasant experience.
The Economy, Their prices, the quality (which could always be improved) are putting breaks on their profits. This latest collection when you were in the store had me pulling up the website to look at the ballerina flats. I haven't liked anything in Gucci for awhile, so this change is more in my style. I wish them the best but the owners are going to have to CHILL. Many of us are becoming much more discerning and hesitant to just shell out for many iconic old names!
One of my favorite old school floral patterns is/was Gucci Flora, growing up it said old money to me. Every summer they changed it up some, did a collab, etc., and it was always pretty. Alessandro did some awesome Flora revivals, I really wish I bought one or more of the Ken Scott pieces. There’s always the resale market ;)
Do you find it too wide/big and bulky? I’ve just bought the*jklux* which is basically the same width and my only worry is it bumping into things and wear on the corners, has yours scuffed?
Fashion & brands are cyclical. In my teens, Gucci & some brands weren’t on most peoples radar… only LV & Chanel. Gucci didn’t gain traction again till my early 20s when they released the Marmont. So while they’re definitely not doing well now… I just assume they’ll have years of not doing well comparatively, then release something that’ll put them on the map again.
Hey Cassie! Thanks for another stellar video! The ballet flats are cute , and I love the blondie bag, but I’ll be damned if I pay that price! Please enjoy the rest of your week!❤
I bought gucci apphrodite small (I don’t think I’ve seen u cover that before) and I love it personally! Very good day to night + daytime bag. There’s a gold GG logo but can easily cover when ur wearing it under ur shoulder + can always flip it to the other side w no logo cuz personally I prefer small / no logos 😂 It’s the perfect hobo size imo. Doesn’t look too big on smaller frame like me + it’s big enough to carry an umbrella!! Which is super impt for my day to day use 😂
I think Gucci's business numbers will start to improve next year and I hope Sabato isn't made to be the scape goat for the poor business year, he hasn't been given enough time to show his creativity and talent. As for the pricing Gucci and Burberry are very different. I agree with you, Gucci probably wont need to lower their prices like Burberry.
Gucci lost its way when they mixed Michele aesthetic for some clients and gangster chic for the young guys- having outlet stores also ruined customers perception of brand value.
Agreed, the new stuff wasn’t on the site. When I saw those suede Gucci embossed ballet flats on Daisy Edgar Jones a few months ago, I purchased them as soon as they hit the site.
The brand still is seen as second tier but the pricing! I’d be buying Celine or just heading elsewhere altogether. I mean I can get an Hermes’ Picton for 6 k ish here in Australia why would I buy a very basic Gucci shoulder bag? They still come off to me as easily/commonly faked (which is flattery to the brand but turns off its potential customers) so I’d still be very reluctant.
I think Gucci is doing great and achieving recognizable steps toward ultra luxury, If you check their financials you will notice a remarkable enhancement in sales this Q . Most luxury brands struggled in 2024 , take LVMH they did good at the beginning of the year and then got hit by the decline in consumer appetite.
New Gucci doesn’t grab me like older Gucci and I am so bummed! I was a Gucci girly for years, and the more subdued collection coupled with the ridiculous pricing makes it a pass for me. I might consider the ballet flat but I am not rushing out
Have you noticed, that their current holiday campaign video is featuring a bag that is very Alessandro Michele coded? Even the video has a bit of the nostalgic vibe that he applied to the brand. That to me is a clear sign that the minimalist understated aesthetic clearly didn’t work for Gucci and they are desperate to stop bleeding money.
I think those ballet flats you like are a copy of a Louboutin model introduced around 1 year ago. Having said that, Gucci has still a long long way to go before they will be competitive again
For me, the truth is I started watching Tanner Leatherstein and I’m so grateful for him because I have learned SO much about the quality of these purchases and how much they’re actually worth. Most of these products aren’t luxury. They’re expensive cheap bags that may be put together a little better than SHEIN but maybe and that’s it. Once upon a time they were of quality and deserved to be called luxury. If they didn’t put the high price tag on their cheap items people probably wouldn’t even look at it, unfortunately. I’ve decided to be smart with my money now and make sure when I purchase things it’s about quality and if I happen to buy something for the trend or logo I’m accepting the fact that I am most likely throwing that money away.
@@majbrittkjaer6134 I just wanted to make the obvious joke without being too graphic lolol. Save the cat just say gucci gang or whatever tf they're wh*ring out lolol
The new collection is pretty amazing! Love their sweatshirts. They are well made and I enjoy wearing them. Their loafers are the most comfortable and pretty cool. Right now ,Gucci is oversaturated with their logos specially with people buying fakes . It's just that they are on our faces 24/7!
i seriously think creative direction really isn’t the problem. While yes Sabato’s Tom Ford inspired direction is exciting like Tom Ford’s original debut, they really should’ve looked at the prices of the Gucci pieces in the late 90s. Most even when adjusted for inflation were around or less than $1000. Not like today where a patent leather jackie costs like $6000
Also just to add btw I do really quite like what he’s doing RTW wise. The clothes are good! It’s definitely elevated. When you see Gucci red carpets the celebs and clients have never looked more chic. It’s like the miu miu girls sexy slightly older cousin? Haha
Peter Do has just Helmut Lang after less than 2 years, it very much parallels what happening with Gucci, though difference is that HL has had a string of other designers (like 7!) with short tenure. At what point to the execs stop and look at each other and realize they're the problem too.
Gucci was fun & interesting during michele's time, but the new designer's designs are more wearable for work. Michele=casual/party, new designer=Workwear/party
Actually long time ago Gucci used to do sale on their website! Atleast once a year! I know this because I used to purchased from their website during the sale!
Waaagh where’s my comment, I know it will pop up and I’ll look like a dummy for posting twice. Anyway, I also remember shopping the online Gucci sales. They weren’t open to the public, you had to get an invite to access the sale merch.
I like Gucci! Recently I was talking to a friend and she said Gucci is now gang member vibes with all the logos. She likes the old Gucci. She lives in MO. I don’t know what it’s like there. Maybe it’s the case in her state but not in Colorado. It’s quite sophisticated here. I like the logos because it’s affiliated with rap and sportsmen culture and that makes Gucci youthful. Which I will take any day!
I think the one major factor affecting their performance, is the pricing. People are just not going to pay Dior money for Gucci. People dont even want to pay Dior money for Dior at this point
Nah it's the scandal coming out that they refuse to have a female owner.

Yes agreed! It will be interesting to see what happens to Fendi as well . I think I’ve outgrown Gucci. ❤Great content as always.
Thank you! And yes I’m waiting for Fendi too though I think they tend to be underrated 💖
Happy Wednesday my lovely Cass Cass ! I don’t know what is going on with some of these luxury brands. Great content 😊🧡
Happy Wednesday to you too! 💖
It’s a great pattern and the pieces it was on were fab!
Thoughts on the teal? Is it a lasting color or will it look dated quickly?
It makes pulling out a bag you haven’t used for a couple of years seem like I’ve gone shopping in my closet.)
Final thought, the Gucci burgundy red that Cassie is very big on is pretty, but it really goes in and out of fashion.
Great video Cassie, I will admit that Gucci hasn't caught my eye for years
This video really comes in handy for me.
Cassie, your skin and makeup are always SO gorgeous. Where can I find your latest makeup and skincare routine?
Fab video.
Hi ☺️
When you have Gucci ready to wear looking like YSL, what is the differentiation?
There’s a gold GG logo but can easily cover when ur wearing it under ur shoulder
+ can always flip it to the other side w no logo cuz personally I prefer small / no logos 😂
It’s the perfect hobo size imo.
I just bought the Gucci clogs. I love them. But, I think all luxury brands are having a slump. Thanks Cassie these informative videos.
Agreed, the new stuff wasn’t on the site. When I saw those suede Gucci embossed ballet flats on Daisy Edgar Jones a few months ago, I purchased them as soon as they hit the site.
I miss Alessandro, and Valentino ready to wear is so much more expensive than Gucci.
Emblem large tote is an appealing answer to the Neverfull GM, imo.
*xbagy* ’s bags come in a variety of styles and textures. I picked out the style I like, so happy!
I think Gucci is doing great and achieving recognizable steps toward ultra luxury,
If you check their financials you will notice a remarkable enhancement in sales this Q .
Most luxury brands struggled in 2024 , take LVMH they did good at the beginning of the year and then got hit by the decline in consumer appetite.
I love the men’s dress fishnet dress shirts underneath and the colors were nice ❤
Your *xbagy* is absolutely hilarious
The nose ring part was pure comedy gold! I don't know the price, but it was worth it
New Gucci doesn’t grab me like older Gucci and I am so bummed!
I think they’re definitely leaning away from the minimalist vibe!
I am obsessed with the ballet flats - I hope I get some for Christmas hahah
I am not a ballet flat girl but I purchased the suede Gucci mini logo flats and they are amazing- they look cool and feel so comfy
Love to hear it!! 💖💖
Can I ask how you found the sizing? I am looking to buy a pair but I dont know if I should size up
They all need to go back to focusing on quality
I love your videos! You are so calming and witty! I have not forgiven Gucci for the Blackface fiasco. Can't rock with them ever!
So glad you enjoy my videos!!! 💖
You might want to research pradas black face keychain, and the history of other luxury brands too if you’re going to hang onto something.
Another Great Video…..another GREAT JACKET. THAT GREEEEN on you ❤❤
I like it, but the prices for stuff seem a bit high. Like the only thing that seems about the same as the old pricing are the shoes.
When people are saying MOMCOCO’s bag is a better option,I very much agree!
Comment for your engagement 😊😊 you deserve 200,000 followers!
Love that you're wearing the Adidas collab jacket to discuss Gucci🤩
Blink twice if Gucci is behind the camera with a weapon and your cat hostage 😂
😅
Not like today where a patent leather jackie costs like $6000
I don't know what Gucci's identity is anymore. I can think of one adjective to describe each brand (fun game), but not for Gucci at this point.🤔
This is definitely part of the problem!!
Bring👏🏻back👏🏻Frida👏🏻 -- been screaming this for years
Gucci was fun & interesting during michele's time, but the new designer's designs are more wearable for work. Michele=casual/party, new designer=Workwear/party
Love Gucci and its range of offerings at different price levels.
Cassie you are so so so beautiful kind hearted and sweet and you always ready to make my day special with your new videos😭💖💖💖
You always are far too kind to me! 💖💖💖
Actually long time ago Gucci used to do sale on their website! Atleast once a year! I know this because I used to purchased from their website during the sale!
I remember shopping the Gucci online sales too. You had to be invited to shop the sale it wasn’t for the general public.
