    I've owned both. The Evo CP9A chassis is the superior car in 95% of situations. It's also made better than the BNR34. It was designed to not fail in the toughest of environments (such as the Finland Rally). It deserves to be top of the 90s JDM pyramid - but the BNR34 takes that spot on it's mythology. I will say the RB26 is a very good straight six engine for the time though. Both are great cars.

      @@성이름-g9k7p the reason is Tsuchiya Keiichi drove the EVO 6 GSR version which it was a little heavier than the RS version of the EVO 6, but still the V-Spec R34 is still a fast 2 door coupe..

      I still own both, a Palma Red Evolution V and a 99 BNR34 GT-R V Spec in Midnight Purple (only 50k kilometres on the clock), and honestly I have to agree I always pick the Evo V, even my little daughters always choose to go out with the Evo V... Very underrated in my opinion, if you compare the prices of both... I'd rather have five Evolution V's for the price of one R34... Waiting for the 25 year rule, the Evo end of this month but she's a keeper, the GT-R in next year's summer... Maybe knowing the value of the GT-R makes me worried too much something might happen, I've got cars only worth €2~3000 that I enjoy more trashing around... (100HP, two 218 vi's, 114 GTi, GTti,...) Because I'm not that worried.

      Probably not as mythical because the evo kept going with the same philosophy till the evo 9 or evo x depending on who you ask, but the gtr changed a lot with the 35. So the 34 is the ‘last and best of something’, also as a general rule classic car prices are not ever really fully logical

    Tsukuba is a very GT oriented circuit, wide corners and long straights. GTR would have an advantage here with its taller gearing and true 320hp. Evo would carve corners much better than the gtr on the mountains and on a much tighter track (stock for stock of course). Both are class A cars. Evo also has a much stiffer chassis with much more weld points, much easier car to throw around.

      Taller gearing is an advantage on Tsukuba?? Long straights? What are you talking about?? The main two straights from low speed recovery corners are only 437m and ~221m which is extremely low. The average max speed on main straight among this class is only 160-170km/h. Short straights recuire shorter final gear ratio. As an example, all TA cars are using shorter gear ratios on Tsukuba.
      Besides, Evo wasn’t only worse on acceleration from low speed corners but also slightly slower in infield section and last high speed corner. I believe it was just simply the difference in volume size of the engines( P.W.R is almost the same) , probably suspension set up and its stiffness combined with insignificant but still present tire width difference. Tsuchia was also speaking about volume differences at the end of the video

    何故かこの回のVHS持ってる。今となったらお宝級の2台。エボと言えばⅣ、Ⅴ、Ⅵがやっぱイメージ強いですね。特にⅤは格好いいなぁ!

    元エボ6GSRオーナーです 同じ280PSだと思いますが 実馬力はR34GTRはたしか330から340馬力 エボ6GSRは280馬力そのままでしたから加速力はかないません (某店シャーシ台の実測 多分エボ8以降(320馬力 でないと勝てないかも 加速力ならインプレッサのSTiバージョン4以降ならR34といい勝負です コーナリングならエボ6も速いですけどね

    Man! where is Nakaya the Evo specialist. They've got the Nismo specialist....I've seen the Evo destroy the GTR in almost every battle before this. Something doesn't seem right.

      Not sure if I understand the video correctly as I dont know japanese, but it sounded like they brought over a Nissan/Nismo test/racing driver for this?
      If thats the case, chances are Nissan set up a juiced up press car for this one, because there is no way an R34 in stock form leaves an Evo in the dust on the straight like that.

    Please have English subtitles. I love Best Motoring and Hot Version, but I don't really understand Japanese.

      Most of what they are saying (I can only understand a little) is stuff that can kind of be understood through context alone honestly. Two words you'll hear a lot in these episodes is "ii" (pronounced how we would say "E" and means "good") and "hayai" which means fast. Also for a lot of car specific words they borrow words from English but use Japanese phonetics so it sounds just a bit different and this could also help you build some context. An example of these combined is at 1:54 where he essentially just says the braking is good followed by other similar instances. I know it's not the perfect substitute for captions but I hope this helps for future episodes without them! 👍

    ランエボはAYCが付いててハンドルが曲がって行く感じが楽しいけど壊れるのが嫌だからLSDに載せ変えて運転する方がお金がかからなかったんだよね

      ランエボは昔から車を買い換える時期になると毎回購入候補に入ってたんですが、AYCのトラブルって少なくないというのを聞くと躊躇してしまって結局買わないままでした

      ランエボは7以降は、ACDやAYCのメカトラブルは10万キロまでなら、無くなっていっています。
      自分も今はRS用機械式デフですが、素人走行なら電子制御がある方がタイムが出るので、お金に余裕がある人はAYCなど修理した方良いと思います。RS用の機械式デフは運転難しいです。楽しいですけどね。

      evo has AYC
      it makes cornerling greater than other 4wd cars.
      gtr has ATTEESA ETS
      it active when rear tires spinning
      and becomes to 4wd when this system active

    That skyline would be worth about 200k if it had under 1000 miles on it now. Roughly. The evo with under 1000 miles would be worth 60/70k to someone in the uk market. Both look amazing stock and its a shame people never really left them stock looks wise

      I’m just glad I got to enjoy them back when they were relatively affordable. It’s a shame they’re seen solely as an investment now by some.
      Evo 6 is perfect on a set of Tarmac Evos and left alone.

      GT-RはVスペックでもフル装備なのでむしろいいのでは?
      台数が少なくて無理だったのかもですがガチンコにはVスペックN1を出すべきだったとおもう。
      ただエボのほうも土屋さんはAYCを使いこなせていないので中谷さんやキンちゃんならいい勝負になるとおもう。

    ⅣのGSRを新車で買って、AYCがダメダメだったから、
    今度はⅥのRSに機械式+LOWクロスで買ったら、
    AYCは勝負できる領域にまで進化してたという思い出・・・
    この頃はGT-Rに負けるな!!!と常に思いながら観てたなぁ~
    このBNR34は違うけど、
    ベスモ号ってオイルクーラーとかついてたから、
    当時はアホで何も思わなかったけど、
    今思うと反則だな!

      In addition to the 34 being 40hp up from its claimed figure, its also the gearing. I raced my mates evo 6 who had a very responsive 300kwatw, i was around 320kwatw in my 34 gtr (also a response build). I walked him with ease. We were even until he had to shift, i slinged past him. He shifted to 4th while i was still revving out 3rd.

      R34 has more power. They have the same official rating but dynos say the R34 was way over that.

      I will add that R34 doesn't have just more power, but also more torque, bigger tyres, AWD with FR preference (compared to Evo's FF preference). So in short it's not only faster on the straight, but also in corners (yes, even with the weight difference).

      The Skyline has a bi-turbo inline 6 with more torque at low RPM! The tires are wider, and the HICAS rear wheel steering handles the power better!

      Close to, but still less power overall. Theres also considerations for drive train loss (The GTRs have some pretty slick bearing set ups in their drivetrain that help reduce standard drivetrain loss from a 4wd system), less torque and other displacement considerations in regards to power band, single vs twin turbo, tire width comparisons, and a big one not often touched on- gearing.
      Both are amazing cars, of course.
