This is just all around well executed. Combined with how the video is shot, color graded, with solid audio, and it is a really good summary for the Evo 6. I know track time videos don't get many views for you, but when you do take it to the track, it would be great to see track impressions as well!
it looks incredible, it drives incredible. Pete's enthusiasm when driving it speaks volumes! easily my favorite era for Evos (IV-VI). I know it wasn't the goal for this car, but I'd love to see it on track too.
Did Pete just describe the Evo as “undercover”? 😄 I guess if you ignore the giant wing, fender flares, vents, rally lights, and steering wheel on the wrong side? Good thing Dave was in the RHD Safety Coordinator seat for that highway entry. Beautiful car, when is it going on sale to a nice CDN owner like myself?
I think it is pretty undercover. Most people where I'm from would not really know what they are looking at. Plus, clear headlight, clear foglight, no flashy badging, silver color.
This build somehow seems more special than the abandoned sti or the rx7s, its like a redemption for the evo fans as well as the driving experience. im ia subaru laddy but ill admit. GD GR GV VA they all sorta "do" the subaru thing, so driving an awd like an evo is just so different and special. im glad its taken on ill cry alot when/if it comes time to sell this one too like the badass2000 its sort a legend in the Speed academy fan groups.
Put the rake back in! It looked so aggressive without looking goofy because the wheel gap was perfect! Beautiful build and very happy to see this project end the right way!
I think you need those amber corners back. I went through this debacle with my E36 M3, and the clears just clashed with the coloring of the headlights (too chrome/perfectly white) so I reverted to the ambers and haven't looked back. Too washed out in my opinion, though everything else is absolutely top notch 👌👏 hats off to you!!
I love how drivable the car is. You guys did a great job of not making the car annoying to enjoy. The engine and exhaust note is relatively subdued and the horsepower curve is linear and useable.
Both of my EVO IX’s were bolt on with stock turbo and I absolutely LOVED driving them. A lot of guys just want to throw a huge turbo on to make big power but it takes away from the fun spirited every day driving aspect. Great numbers for pump gas!
Out of all the cars you have done this is my favorite, this is the one I would want. What an awesome car from the 90s golden era. Manufacturers have lost their way.
I had a chance to drive a TME that has been converted to RS drivetrain (no ayc) with almost full spherical bearing. Man does it drives really good. I love the characteristic of the CP much more than the CT
Highly anticipated build, so glad you were able to wrap it up and give us some more content! There is nothing out there that drives like early Evo's! Hope we get some track day content in this thing in the future!
Am stoked to see this series on an Evo 6 which the exact same version as mine in the same colour! Imho, the 6 is the best Evo, I've owned mine from new, bought in 1999. So, that intake, what a piece of work! I'm in the process of speccing parts for a 500 whp build on mine, and that intake is the best I've seen by far, very spendy though! Same for the exhaust manifold, it complies with my philosophy for a turbo manifold, short runners and cast steel. Good production and I'm so pleased to have found some great parts for my build.
OE+ Pro series oil filter and Simoniz products - Great to see Canadian products on one of the greatest Canadian car channels! OE+ Pro Series are really high quality aftermarket stuff 👍👍
Highly recommend you send your manifold off to someone like Headershield. That header configuration on Evos just murders other components in the engine bay with heat. You don't have to worry about ceramic coatings flaking off etc.
Wow what a masterpiece you guys have created! As always you knocked it out the park. You can really tell how Pete is happy with this one, keep up the amazing videos guys!!!
You guys did an incredible job bringing that evo back to life. It's a super clean build, I love the oem plus look, and the wheels you all went with are perfect. I agree, they look better on it than the dark silver ones. All in all, amazing build! can't wait to see you guys track the car and get your thoughts on how it handles. evos are awesome track cars I hear.
Great series man! I know you guys where on a tight schedule, but the last minute homemade IC pipe was a let down. Funny how the engine is so small, even for a 4 cylinder, and crazy how much you payed for the car
Fantastic video again, lads! This is such a great car. I know we joke about it being a protege, but all the reasons you love this car (minus power and turbo LOL) is why I love mine. I am getting envious and would love to take a rip in this car!
great build, I really like the type of cars you guys build. All my favorite cars growing up. I liked the rake of the car before. Lower in the front ftw
Maybe a carbon fiber cam angle sensor would be best? or just wrap that little heat shield with a CF wrap. Yes the Enkei Triumph looks good. I was thinking of getting some for my TME
Pro tip: Dampen the cheap microfiber towel with water before cleaning/detail spray and it will not scratch the paint. The follow behind with a quality microfiber towel to slightly buff. 👌🏼
9:46 are those cheap yellow towels the Kirkland signature ones? I thought they were good gsm for the price. GSM and softness are two different things? Sorry I don’t know much
Good thing PT didn't sell the turbo that wasn't being used... That would have resulted in another turbo purchase. 😐 The silicone BOV re-circulating tube can be shortened up at the straight section to reduce contract on the coolant hose. The Evo looks good and sounds good! 💪🏆
Love it. Loved it more with more rake. Proper underbody and a diffuser and you want at least 5 degrees for circuit tracks and then adjust suspension bound and rebound from there for ride / track use
Well done guy keep it up very happy for you and for the EVO 😁 next time don't leave me waiting for so long to see the EVO again 😂😂 .. ps never give up on your goals who does Notting does no mistakes . Keep going 💪
Nice to see a tuner actually tuning for knock. Would never let someone tune my car without finding knock threshold first.
It’s almost midnight here in Australia, but it’s never too late for a new Speed Academy video!
G'day from Melbourne
Danm, hello from the other side of the world in the Caribbean
I'm sure PT loves all his project cars, but you can tell he really loves this one especially.
Good to see this completed. The wheels were a good choice. Peak JDM goodness right there.
This Evo is the car where dreams are made off. Just so fresh and clean looking. You guys really hit the homerun here.
As per usual you guys knock it out of the park, your taste in parts and cars is so on point.
This is just all around well executed. Combined with how the video is shot, color graded, with solid audio, and it is a really good summary for the Evo 6. I know track time videos don't get many views for you, but when you do take it to the track, it would be great to see track impressions as well!

Those sunny, mid to late day drives after finally getting your car running are some of the most glorious feelings in the world.
This is my favotire car on all of RUclips. I found this channel just two weeks ago and I've binge watched this entire series. What commitment.
This build somehow seems more special than the abandoned sti or the rx7s, its like a redemption for the evo fans as well as the driving experience. im ia subaru laddy but ill admit. Put the rake back in! It looked so aggressive without looking goofy because the wheel gap was perfect! Beautiful build and very happy to see this project end the right way!
I appreciate you guys making a mistake with the turbo, showing it and owning it. Many channels would have cut vid short or just fixed and moved on.
I think you need those amber corners back. +1 with the amber. also for their 911.
@@hungryalien 🔸️🔸️🔶️🔶️🟠 agreed! 🟠🔶️🔶️🔸️🔸️
Been saying that since the first version the amber indicators look much better especially with black housing headlamps
I love how drivable the car is. You guys did a great job of not making the car annoying to enjoy. The engine and exhaust note is relatively subdued and the horsepower curve is linear and useable.
The look on pete's face says it all. Thank you for completing this gem
Both of my EVO IX’s were bolt on with stock turbo and I absolutely LOVED driving them. A lot of guys just want to throw a huge turbo on to make big power but it takes away from the fun spirited every day driving aspect. Great numbers for pump gas!
Super glad the best car on the channel is FINALLY sorted! Props to you guys you’ve absolutely nailed it - what a car 🤌🏻🤌🏻
Out of all the cars you have done this is my favorite, this is the one I would want. What an awesome car from the 90s golden era. Manufacturers have lost their way.
not the r34 gtr?
@@hungryalien Personally I would much rather have this Mitsubishi evo myself.
Now I want an evo6😂
The speed academy guys knows how to build a car, super mature and tasteful.
EVO 6 GSRs ROCK 😎👌👌👌👌
I had a chance to drive a TME that has been converted to RS drivetrain (no ayc) with almost full spherical bearing. Man does it drives really good. I love the characteristic of the CP much more than the CT
From a flooded evo (GG) to a other one! NICE!
Gorgeous car. Well done guys. I think this ones a keeper
My god that this thing is gorgeous. As a Mitsubishi-phile this thing is absolutely amazing.
man, this is a great build and I respect the idea to give a little homage to the TME EVO VI but....I liked the 5 spokes better on this car!
It ended up great, now we need to see it on TMP! Or all those shiny speed parts would be there for nothing ;)
God it's so satisfying to see this car finally on the road, really glad to see this car revived. Absolutely love your wheel choice for this one, too.
Highly anticipated build, so glad you were able to wrap it up and give us some more content! There is nothing out there that drives like early Evo's! Hope we get some track day content in this thing in the future!
I'm not generally a fan of Mitsubishi, but this one turned out so rad! Fantastic work. It would be a great daily.
you guys did a sick job restoring this absolute classic!
Tuning has improved since the early days and now it's possible to have reliable power. Hopefully no more kabooms!
the more i see of this Evo, the more i miss mine i had 18 years ago.
Glad i got to see this car return. Hope to see it hit the track one day
I waited 2 years for this build to run again awesome work 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🏁🏁🏁🔰🔰🔰
This car got serious for me after seeing the exhaust. It looks awesome:)
Am stoked to see this series on an Evo 6 which the exact same version as mine in the same colour! Imho, the 6 is the best Evo, I've owned mine from new, bought in 1999. Undercover ripper? Hood vents, double decker wing, lowered, rims, and exhaust. Canada must be wild compared to USA, lets goooooooo!
Will we see you guys at the LZMFG world tour Canada stop? All the homies will be there 😮
OE+ Pro series oil filter and Simoniz products - Great to see Canadian products on one of the greatest Canadian car channels! OE+ Pro Series are really high quality aftermarket stuff 👍👍
Simply beautiful! It's really refreshing to see this built, it's like a child dream come true!
I don't care if the intake imroves performance or not. It's absolutely gorgeous
Was great to see the first rip grins after tuning you were cruelly cheated out of last time.
Great work by all involved in the build
Excellent music choice and shots when showing the evo.
I love following new people that have the same car as me thanks learner a lot from you guys
Amazing Evo! As an Evo X owner always give me the feels when it's as if they never made the 10 when talking Evo
haha the 4g63 crew is not very inclusive hehe
A proper dream car there and I'm glad to see you guys finally got it sorted. Congrats!
I saw the steam coming out of PT’s ears in person when the car wasn’t making boost, haha!
For over 2 years I have been sad. Now, I am happy again.
Glad to see this done, I’ve also waited for this car to be done.
Way to bring this one back. Looks and sounds great!
So glad you guys finally get to enjoy it! Great build. Makes me wanna go jump in mine 😎
So glad you fixed the rear rake, needs a bit more low in the rear but overall looks awesome! Good job SA 👍👍👍
That intake is wild! Another great build
The only thing I would change about the Evo would be the owner! I would kill to daily drive that little beast!
Please, please, please put a filtered catch can between the cam cover and that gorgeous carbon intake
You guys did an incredible job bringing that evo back to life. It's a super clean build, I love the oem plus look, and the wheels you all went with are perfect. great build, I really like the type of cars you guys build. All my favorite cars growing up. I liked the rake of the car before. Lower in the front ftw
That intake is stunning! What a really cool, and unique piece!🥰
That must be the most beautiful air intake I’ve ever seen ❤
Congratulations on a awesome build. Just love to see you being so passionate! Keep it up
Its true, automotive design peaked in the 90s. 😊
I really hope one day, I get to experience an Evo 6!
Excellent episode and car build! Brilliant street car spec.
TMP battle against the GR Corolla please!
Such an underrated channel..
That's one beautiful Evo 6❤ Speed Academy has great taste in cars.
This one needed to be finished, and finished properly 👌🏻
Congratulations guys! Enjoy it.
Maybe a carbon fiber cam angle sensor would be best? or just wrap that little heat shield with a CF wrap. Yes the Enkei Triumph looks good. I was thinking of getting some for my TME
Loving this build, but it definitely needs a bigger exhaust tip. Love the music choice, that retro progressive track was dope AF.
Sorry I don’t know much
So glad to see this project completed, you guys deserve it!
What a car, bring back the 90s
Please do a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution vs Toyota GR Corolla video 😂
Great! Now show what it can do on TMP!
Another great build series fellas!
That there, is perfection! Great channel guys 👏 👍
A good tuner is the key to any build 👍
Evo 3 and Evo 6 are my favourite evos heck I still love the Evo gizza
Now you have the real JDM cred 😅 on a side note I didn't notice until now how hairy DP is
Good thing PT didn't sell the turbo that wasn't being used... That would have resulted in another turbo purchase. 😐 The silicone BOV re-circulating tube can be shortened up at the straight section to reduce contract on the coolant hose. The Evo looks good and sounds good! 💪🏆
That GR Corolla! 🤌🏻
yeah, Also noticed that.👍
Watch G&G vid first then this one to cheer you up. Nice work boys, time to rip a few STIs now 😆
Luv this build all the Artec goodies look so good!!!!
Love it. Loved it more with more rake. Proper underbody and a diffuser and you want at least 5 degrees for circuit tracks and then adjust suspension bound and rebound from there for ride / track use
Want to see the evo on track 😍😍😍
Hopefully next episode will be the evo on the racetrack
Such a beautiful machine. Respect ✊🏼
The og Honda/Acura nsx actually has that style brake ducts, used them on my frs.
Nice work lads , it looks and sounds great 👌🏻
Well done guy keep it up very happy for you and for the EVO 😁 next time don't leave me waiting for so long to see the EVO again 😂😂 .. ps never give up on your goals who does Notting does no mistakes . Keep going 💪
A great car, a beast of an EVO6.
Great work guys, ignore the haters
You had me at EVO being considered a Turbo AWD Type-R.
the evo 9 63 with mivec is more like turbo awd type-r with vtec hehe
