Alpha Wolf have an incredibly enthusiastic live following. I've seen them support two technically larger acts in the UK (and seen them headline) and each time the energy of the crowd has been higher during their set than the headliners.
Mitch, don’t ever say there is so many bands that sound like us. That’s not true. Anyone who is a vet in the Metalcore world can see that. Alpha Wolf has its own beauty. I see it. It’s amazing.
Literally yesterday I was watching some crystal lake live drum vids and thought "what would Craig think about this". There you are, 'mental drummer'. Sick! That would be a guest I would love to see at the downbeat.
So proud of the boys! They have taken off like crazy and to see them at knotfest and crowd surf to them was the best moment of my life. Alpha wolf and Polaris are like no other! Proud to be an Aussie and from Melbourne and the boys are absolute delights to chat to
I literally saw Alpha Wolf at the House of Blues in Anaheim this year lmao... It was before this podcast as well, so It's hilarious to see that they don't remember playing there considering how INSANE that show was. Honestly, the best live performance I've ever seen lmao.
New podcast episode! yay! I should save this to enjoy after work but ....no lol your hair absolutely does not look rubbish and you talk just the fair amount :)
I saw alpha wolf live before i ever heard them amd what won me wasnt actuslly the music itself, but that intoxicating live energy and full commitment. They opened fpr some pretty big bands amd i walked away thinking they had the best live energy amd should have been last
I saw them for the first time at Knotfest in Sydney and they were Awesome... Such a killer band and massive props for getting on that run.. I hope it was a huge boost for them as they deserve it. 👍👍👍 I'll not only be a drum tech but also build Mitch a custom Snare to sweeten the deal 😀
14:30 that “not yet” after being asked about orchestra is getting my brain whirring…. We gonna have a genre blend album? Some beautiful string, orchestral work into the alpha wolf sound we know and love? Shit take my money and punch my face. That would be great!
Striking a drum kit is when you have to do a kit change during a change over. Take the kit off the stage. Idk what the context is but I’m sure that’s what they mean
to strike a drum kit is to remove it from the stage when other bands are playing. you know when you see a support band playing with 6ft of space because the stage is full of the headline bands drums etc covered by a black sheet? that’s NOT striking a drum kit
Headline band sets up their kit on stage and leave it there for the whole show. So support acts/drummers have to set up another kit in front of that kit.
@@reynlord666 all for supporting you homie! Love every podcast and every song you touch! Is there anything in the works of guitar tabs being released for Euthanasia? Would be cool seeing you guys on Sheet Happens to support the band that way too.
I think Sabian is correct about ambient intros. I personally don’t like them and even when I’m listening to a new album for the first time I skip tracks with long ambience. I just want to hear the song. Most of the time an ambient intro adds nothing to the song. It’s just annoying.
7:00 the way the phrase 'Tasmanian band' itself sounds exotic...how can you expect anything but devils. 9:24 EPs makes more sense now with streaming, allows you to test and gauge, galvanize and 'prove' whatever you need to with labels these days
50:00 makes sense...raging is the only thing you have time for at 212, you don't have time to 'dance' quickly even if you wanted to, it's just wild raging, no other way to respond to that tempo
11:33 also TikTok but even before Spotify, it's the first 15 seconds...if it sounds promising stick around/skip to middle if curious to see if it really goes anywhere/gains momentum. With so much music coming out, increased productivity on all levels but limited leisure, as well as streaming availability where skipping is easier (no more committing to physical discs where you like 3 out of 10 songs on an album) people skip songs like HR skims CVs...first 15 seconds
55:40 this is why I don't have fb but also why is this a thing at gyms, laughing because this really does happen & it's awkward because they're already watching you at the gym and they wanna stalk you online too??...some make it easier and publicly geotag a gym selfie or whatever
1:25:00 AW would like a band with a song about parasite eve. Most alpha wolves in nature are infected by a parasite, t.gondii, which makes them less risk averse. Wolves of a pack are more likely to follow a leader that behaves as though risks don't exist; the parasite allows for the alpha to uniquely deviate from typical pack instinct without even really realizing which is apparently irresistible to followers.
Alpha Wolf have an incredibly enthusiastic live following. I've seen them support two technically larger acts in the UK (and seen them headline) and each time the energy of the crowd has been higher during their set than the headliners.
Yeah I don’t find their music that interesting but their live shows pop off like crazy. Definitely a band people should check out at a show
True I went to the miw show and alpha opened and everyone went hard for them more then the other bands there, except maybe knocked loose
@@nicholasblessing1907I was at the Portland show, and Alpha Wolf ALWAYS brings it. Their music is amazing and just hits so much fuckin harder live.
In the USA Atlanta, I had this same experience. It's crazy live.
Watching this after Sucks 2 Suck dropped…nice lol
An Alpha Wolf x Downbeat vinyl would be so sick
2014 ahh beartooth logo
sabian and mitch are such nice guys. absolute gems.

you’re intros are under appreciated but so insanely funny
34:00 on you can tell Mitch is just BEGGING for a DT the entire time sabian is talking LMFAO. hes staring DAGGERS into the camera
That fanfic had me cackling😂
20:15 Mitch is relatable...staring off into the distance then occasionally staring straight into your soul
I tried so hardddd 🎤👀
Seen them for the first time at Download Festival on Saturday. Holy WOW! What a show. Absolutely incredible
You need to interview Australian metalcore band thornhill they are coming to the UK in July for radar festival.
So proud of the boys! They have taken off like crazy and to see them at knotfest and crowd surf to them was the best moment of my life. Alpha wolf and Polaris are like no other! Proud to be an Aussie and from Melbourne and the boys are absolute delights to chat to
Literally finished watching the last episode 20 mins ago! Staying up watching at 4am now lol. Much love from Australia!
"That's a fucking big hand! Jesus Christ, no wonder you're good at drums!"
Love it
That fan fiction segment is HILARIOUS 🎉🎉🎉
Fuck yes. Aussie metal as a whole is going next level

Definitely the best downbeat pod by farrrr
Stray killed it last year at blue ridge! I cant wait to see you guys again. Hopefully soon
That AI fan fiction had me howling 😂
also the drumming in I shall devour is ridiculous
He literally called the Live Nation Willie Nelson stuff 😂
Seen them at the dogtooth stage at download 2024. Very good live 👏
Tassie represent! Crazy to see this!
You’re definitely one of the most legit human beings on the internet. Keep rambling my guy 🤘🏻
thank you. genuinely appreciate that
Craaaig, absolutely love the podcast! And also; your hair looks great ❤
Not sure when this was recorded, but I can confirm they did play Anaheim HOB, I was there lol.
Sabian “D’Addario” Lynch would’ve been an extremely ironic name
An epic tour:
SFTP
Knocked Loose
Lorna Shore
Bad Omens
Alpha Wolf
Take my money!
Always wished i couldv'e gone and got stuff from that pop-up shop. America needs one fs

Awesome interview boys!! Love it! 🔥🔥🔥
I went to their Headline show in Cincinnati and they kicked so much ass! Was the greatest small venue show I've been to and I've been to dozens.
I saw alpha wolf live before i ever heard them amd what won me wasnt actuslly the music itself, but that intoxicating live energy and full commitment. They opened fpr some pretty big bands amd i walked away thinking they had the best live energy amd should have been last
Yeah they go HAM Lochie definitely brings it too.
I saw them opening for Fit for a king and holy shit they kicked ass. And when I saw fit for a king they didn't compare.(fan bias obv)

met all the boys in birmingham when they opened for ERRA, super stoked to see them on downbeat! such kind boys, love em!

Saw them in Salt Lake last year. They go hard as fuck 🤙🔥
nice with the XILE shirt
Yes - Cunning Stunts is what made me a Metallica fan! I love that DVD, the set, the feel and the looks. Love it! Also, love Alpha Wolf lol xD
you have to bring jon theodore to the pod!
lol Mitch declined Sabian at first??? more on that and more Alpfa Wold plzzzz
You don't ramble enough, you very smart man. Your hair looks incredible. :)
I'm grateful ... Everytime i hear u playing drums , i realise how good Chris kontos is. Ty
English is not my native language and ive never toured. What does it mean to "strike" a druk kit?
i didn't get that either
Striking a drum kit is when you have to do a kit change during a change over.
Take the kit off the stage.
Idk what the context is but I’m sure that’s what they mean
to strike a drum kit is to remove it from the stage when other bands are playing. you know when you see a support band playing with 6ft of space because the stage is full of the headline bands drums etc covered by a black sheet? that’s NOT striking a drum kit
Loving the podcast, Try and get Chris Fehn (Slipknot) for an interview
Excuse my ignorance but where do Aussies get Downbeat merch? From the UK or US site? Or do we have one?
I am afraid you have to pick out of those two, sorry!
was gonna buy the shirt you are wearing but $59 for shipping just for a tee is hefty hahah, love the pod tho
He does USA runs here and there!
Is there bad blood with Meinl since you switched to Zildjian?
nah not really but it’s funny isn’t it
hey man, sweet hair, can you talk more at the start?
If you were still with Meinl would they have let you have Sabian on the pod?
Think this is legitimately the first time I've ever seen Sabian without a mask on
craig's talked about this a few times but i don't understand. when they talk about striking drums/drum risers, what does that mean?
Headline band sets up their kit on stage and leave it there for the whole show. So support acts/drummers have to set up another kit in front of that kit.
Nandos need to sponsor you for real 😂
I ordered my downbeat gear on 4\20 and still haven’t received it 😢 emailed with no resolve
hey who did you email can you hit the link in the db instagram bio please!

1:11:22 their merch drop was cute, the plush pillow and journal+pen combo goes hard together (even if I prefer refillable pens)
