Hey, great video, about to do the same to my trek fx 2, hoping you can help me out, what specialized tools did you use?

You will need a crank puller your bike store can take the correct one for you, but I recommend having a quality set of Allen keys also that have some length to them, some grease and then the rest is up to you

Nice work Matt. What Shimano bottom bracket and crankset model did you use? I have an FX2. My local bike shop cant seem to recommend a replacement bottom bracket and crankset. I would greatly appreciate any expert guidance.

Measurements on the bottom bracket are 1.37x24T and 68x124.5 not sure exact one to get but anything with those measurements will probably work, The crank set is the Shimono “dual sis index” it cost under 50 bucks. The only reason I needed to replace that is because I messed up the bottom bracket stripping it and I had to cut it out physically with a hacksaw 😞😅 but the weather is getting nice and I’ll be out riding this to work daily soon. It’s a great bike but I ride it pretty hard. I’ll be upgrading with better components as the old ones wear out next maybe get new handlebars also?

@@mtbridersanonymous9152 thanks so much for the information. I bought:
      1.SHIMANO SORA R3000 CRANKSET (2 X 9 SPEED) (HOLLOWTECH II) (165MM) (50/34T).
      And ...
      2. SHIMANO BB-RS500 HOLLOWTECH II THREADED BOTTOM BRACKET (SILVER) (BSA) (68MM) (24MM SPINDLE).
This was recommended to me by a popular online retailer. I have not put it on yet. Do you think this BB and Chainwheel are compatible with my FX2. (Year 2022)??
The crankset that came with the FX2 is just called "Forged Alloy" -- and I feel it's pretty cheap. Maybe I'm not really gaining anything?

@@electricalmarketingllc4853 TBH i’ve never done a hollow Teck BB so I couldn’t tell you for sure but it sounds like you’ve done your research and I think everything will go smoothly, just don’t strip out the old BB during removal like I did lol. Also your upgrades are better than mine it’ll be worth your investment. Keep me updated and let me know how it goes 🤙🤙
