You are a legend I've been playing the concert flute since I was 8 and always adored eastern music and for the life of me couldn't find anything on playing bansuri esque music on concert flute apart from improvising and this video helped me a tonne so thank you so much

Wonderful. A rAga like s'ivaranjani does not have much gamakas or meend so is playable with a western Boehm flute. Are you able to play harder rAgas which require a lot of these on a Boehm flute? If so, a demo would be really great.

you are right, ragas like Darbari and other are much harder to render on the western flute. It makes me think of the limitations on Santoor (like Shivkumar Sharma) has with his instrument, although obviously he makes beautiful music.

as an indian i like western music and there flutes are also good, but compare to indian classical flute it doesnt sound very sweet and soothing, i think its because indian flutes are made out of natural bamboos, but then again chinese flutes are also natural but only indian flutes has the ability to pour honey in the ears
