    I have been researching this amp for weeks now and I am going to buy it. It is truly amazing. I do not know how anyone could put a thumbs down on this demo. It is probably the best demo from a company I have seen on an amp. Thank you Mesa! You are truly make the best amps out there. You want awesome tone? Then ya best go Boogie! Being American Made is a HUGE bonus!

    Thank you Mesa for Designing in my opinion the Beat Amp I have ever owned! I have been playing for around 25 yrs and tried many awesome Amps, but as great as they were they did not have the versatility of this Beast. The Cleans are so warm and responds beautifully with Pedals, as for Overdrive/Distortion it is Pure Mesa Tone from edgy to full on Brutal. I use mine through a 1x 12 Cab but I do have the Mesa 4 x 12 slant Cab, just amazing.
    Thank you so much Mesa.

    I bought one of these new in 2012 and it has been great. I've played it through 1x8", 1x10", 2x10", 1x12", 2x12", 4x10 and 4x12...it never disappoints for everything from spanky vintage country sounds to classic rock, blues, jazz, and heavy metal tones. It's very versatile, and very simple. A great product. As their video says...this is a professional instrument, and not a scaled back version of a real amp. It's the real deal. Very satisfied and I didn't think I'd ever sell it, but I am now listing it because I also have a TC-50, a Mark V, and some other amps.

  • @tatsandteles

    Just got mine. Great fun. To those who think it can't gig, think again. You can mic it or course, or you can slave the loop to another power amp if you need to. I understand that it was designed for portability, but thats an option when you need more power. Seriously though, I don't know many gigs that this wouldn't cover.

    I own a Mesa Boogie Dual Caliber 5. It's the 1980s edition and it is AMAZING. The reverb and EQ are stunning. It function as If it was just released out of the factory. I use a TS9 with it and it makes it sing. A beautiful metal machine :)

    well..took a shot and just ordered one..it sounds so good..its absolutely the sound ive been looking for..and worst case scenario..ill mic it up and boom! done deal. thx 4 responding!

    • @mesaboogie
      @mesaboogie  8 лет назад +1

      Awesome, JefferSun! Your idea to use a mic when you need it is EXACTLY how most people approach it. If you're playing a gig where there's a PA available, slapping a 57 in front of your cab will absolutely make it happen. That said, if you have a 2x12 closed back cab, there's few gigs that the Mini Rec won't cover. Hope you dig it and let us know if you have any further questions! :)

  • @jasonjohnston7546
    @jasonjohnston7546 11 лет назад +2

    Yes, it is more than enough. I think the confusion lies in Solid State amps vs tube amps. A 25 watt Tube amp like the mini would be like a 75-100 watt solid state amp. Tubes are WAY louder and have a warmer feel. Plus almost no hum on distorted settings.

    @ Nico, I've owned the mini for 7 months, don't be fooled by the 25 watts, it's got PLENTY of volume, I mean that seriously. The vintage mode with the gain at 3 o'clock is amazing. As far as the cleans, so good and soulful! The cleans have never sounded sterile in the mix, in over 50 shows with the amp, never sounded sterile once, even at large outdoor gigs where cleans normally just die with any amp, it STILL sounded warm and fat, like I was gonna bust out James Brown stuff at any moment. I LOVE this amp, it is an American classic, no doubt!!!

    After owning this little amp for almost 2 years now, this thing still blows people away. Takes pedals, especially Klon style OD/Boosters like nothing I've ever used. I can go from Adam Jones to David Gilmour by turning my guitars volume knob and too me, that's a sign of an amp in this price range. I got it used for $900 CAD...money well spent. And Mesa's customer service and tech help came instantly when I had a tube issue...just needed to be reseated and I'm still on the original tubes with no signs of degradation after pounding the shit out of this thing day in and day out.

    the powerage doesn't affect volume so much as speaker cabinet does. 25W with a 2x12 cab is perfect to play in small clubs without put a microphone in front of the speaker, and you can really use all it's power. If you play in bigger club or stadium ;) you have to use the microphone anyway

    I've had one for a week. Wasn't gonna carry a dual rec around. The tone IMO is nearly identical to the dual rec. But you do lose the big boomy bottom end provided by the 6L6 tubes. Playing in a band though, those frequencies just get swallowed up by the bass. Plus if you're recording, you cut those frequencies anyway. So perfect for me as a band member and recording guy. I like the tightness of the mini rec. It cuts through at practice and it is WAY LOUD. I mean, super loud. I may have to get a brake. I have it set on 10-15% master with 90% gain (metal). The 10W / 25W switch doesn't cut much volume, it's more of a tone altering switch (as I believe it alters the configuration of the power tubes). I play through an Engl E212V (which is too heavy haha). Only downside is the price, mine was £900 from Thomann. But then, I'm a gear slut :) recently upgraded from the H&K tubemeister 36 (not enough gain but LOADS of cool features). Anyway, if you've got the cash and you are a serious musician who plays and records the mini rec is the choice :) if you like to sit in front of you amp at home drooling over huge low end get the dual rec. \m/

    • @thedavegoodman
      @thedavegoodman 5 лет назад

      Dark Sun Bright One 10 watt Vintage on ch 2 might be ok but the jump from zero to one is substantial in most high gain settings. The volume they had ch2 in this video would be out of the question. It’s so loud. I use a cabclone to play quieter, but it doesn’t sound super great unless you post eq in some highs.

    You can drive a full size cab with 1 watt if you want. It's not as it just farts out or something. In fact a lot of cabs will sound larger and project the sound more, and have premium speakers that are more efficient/sensitive.

    Hi Mesa,
    I have one of these amps at my apt, sounds awesome and does bedroom levels. Sounds great with plenty of low end that you just don't find in amps this size. My only concern is that I have been going through a lot of el84 power tubes lately. I use the amp in the 25 watt mode but turned down so I don't piss off my neighbors. Would that effect the power tubes or am I just getting a bad batch? Would using a Rivera Rockcrusher be ok with a 25 watt amp? Last time I tried I noticed my volume dropped while I was playing, but I think that was the power tubes because they burnt out the next time I plugged into play.

    Hi,
    My band is planning on getting this amplifier given it is very easy to carry on tours.
    The only query is that, we use 4 wire based connection with Boss GT-10, but without a midi in/out in the amplifier, how will it work out?
    We will be glad if you can explain or give another way so that we can use different amplifier channel settings, and just not one channel going in the Send/Return.
    Thanks !

    • @mesaboogie
      @mesaboogie  9 лет назад +1

      HiDevashish Dutt - From what I can tell reading about the GT-10 online, you'll connect the 1/4" Amp Control jack on the GT-10 to the Channel Switch jack on the Mini Rectifier and you'll program which channel you want via the Amp Control selection function in the GT-10. This will allow you to switch back and forth between channel 1 & 2 depending on what patch you are using in the GT-10. Let us know how it goes and hope this helps!

  • @lorimeyers3839

    Man, I bought this Mesa mini two years ago and I adore it. But the other day, while playing on channel 2 with no foot switch, I kept hearing this popping sound while I was playing. I stopped playing and looked at the head, and the amp was switching itself between both channels 1 and 2. Channel 1 lights would switch on really fast, then back to channel 2 several times over the course of one second. It scared me, so I shut the head down. Decided to turn it back on and take a look to see if the tubes were ok and there was no smoke or anything. All looked ok. But the amp kept switching back and forth and every time it switched I could hear this popping. I dunno, what should I do?

    Are the channels foot switchable?
    Will it do the bedroom/apartment volume thing without sacrificing tone?
    Could you play it with a 1x15 and a 2x12?

    • @mesaboogie
      @mesaboogie  6 лет назад +2

      Hi JP - Yes - the channels are footswitchable. Yes - it sounds great at lower volumes too and you can set it to 10 watts to get more power tube saturation at lower volumes! Yes - you could run it with a 2x12 and a 1x15 if both cabs are 8 ohms each! Hope this helps and thanks for your interest!

    I would like information about how it sounds at low volume at 10 W on modern gain setting.
    I tried the Rectifier combo 50 W and the amp starts almost at 2 on the volume and it is still too loud to practice in my house.

    • @mesaboogie
      @mesaboogie  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Frederic - there are a few examples of the 10W mode throughout the video, but the short answer is, the MIni Rectifier and Recto-Verb amps sound great in their 10 watt modes. However, the thing you need to know most is that the 10w mode, while quieter, is a method to get to power section distortion more easily without as much volume, but it is still capable of being loud. The main point I would like to make is the amp is only as loud as you turn it up with it's Master control, so loudness is literally controlled by where you set the controls. The Mini Rectifier sounds great on 10 watts, but if you are playing quietly for home practice, the Master will be set low and you just need to find the place on the Master where it works for your playing environment. This is true with any amp we make. While the 10 watt mode is certainly better for quieter playing than an amp that can only provide as low as 50 watts, it really is just a matter of finding the sweet spot non the Master for the volume you need. Hope this helps and thank you for your interest! Let us know if you have any further questions. :)

    Great sounding amp, which cabinet sounds great with it?

    • @mesaboogie

      Hi +ESPLover - Any Mesa cab will sound great with this amp, although, because it is a
      Rectifier, closed back cabs are often preferred for the heavy sounds
      that people seem to like the Rectifiers for... if you like a 1x12 or small compact cabs, the 1x12 Mini Rectifier cab or the Thiele 1x12s are awesome. You can never go wrong with a 2x12 Rectifier! :D And, amazingly, the Mini Rectifier can drive a 4x12 just as well as anything we make. So - if you want compact, you can't go wrong with a 1x12 or 2x12 but the Mini Rec will driva 4x12 too! Hope this helps.

    So I got a 16u rack and the heart of the rig is a Mesa Quad Preamp. Would this mini recto be good to put into a rack and use the power amp section only when in the rack? I'm trying to find a guitar head I can fit into a rack to use the power amp section but also have a head when I can't bring my whole rack.

      Hi Jackson - That could certainly work to plug your Quad into the FX Return and use just the power section whenever you just wanted power. Should sound good!

    I love that guitar amp companies finally realized that the majority of guitarists play and record at home, in their bedrooms/ mini studios and that 100 watt amps with 4x12 cabs are too much. Finally! Mini heads and mini cabs with much lower power that's much more appropriate for the musician who's not performing for a stadium.

    Can this amp do blues well too? The transatlantic can but it would be good to get this one for the effects loop.

    im in a 3 piece band. guitar..bass ..drums..we practice in a house..hardrock/metal...is this thing loud enough to play with the band..without mic in it up?

      Hi JefferSun - This is one of the more difficult questions to answer. It's like asking "how loud is loud". :) If you have a 2x12 or a 4x12 cabinet, most of the time this amp is plenty loud for home rehearsal anbd small-ish gigs. However, if your drummer and bassist play REALLY loud, you might have trouble keeping up volume-wise, especially with clean sounds since truly clean sounds require more power to be loud & clean than distortion sounds do. You really need to try it out to see if it has enough power, BUT - we will say that LOTS opf people successfully use this amp for gigs - it's really just a matter of how loud you play. Hope this helps and thanks for your interest!

      JefferSun A. Use more mids and you will cut right through the low end being produced by your bass and drums in your band and you will stand out like a yellow camero

    just bought a used mini rectifier. Found there is a major volume between clean channel and vintage mode. Of course I know modern mode is pretty not usable at bedroom level, but I am surprised that I have to run my clean channel at gain 3 and master noon for bedroom level. Have I got an amp issue? or a bad tube? thanks

    Can anyone tell me how durable these amps are? I am considering getting one but if I am going to have to service it a lot like a lot of the more complex Mesa equipment with more knobs and components, I don't want it.

    • @mesaboogie
      @mesaboogie  5 лет назад +1

      A little bit.... It mostly sounds like a Rectifier that isn;t quite as beefy as a 100 watt amp, but mostly as beefy, if that makes any sense. Mini rec with a 2x12 Recto cab is a crusher! :)
