Since Shannen had worked on many shows with Aaron Spelling before 90210 I highly doubt it was Tori Spelling who got her the job. She was already very well known.

He didn’t say Tori got Shannen the job, just that Tori recommended her after seeing Heathers. She still had to audition and compete with many other young actresses to win the role. Heathers was not a big hit upon initial release and was starting to develop a cult following by the time they were casting for 90210, so it might not have been on the radar of someone like Aaron Spelling as much as someone Tori’s age. It’s a believable claim. Also, I am not sure which Spelling productions you are referring to prior to 90210 but I don’t see Spelling in her pre-90210 credits. Perhaps I’m overlooking something. Even of she had appeared on a Spelling production it wasn’t really until Heathers when she was playing teen roles that made her stand out.
Im French and the show first aired in February '93 on Saturdays at 7pm .I prefered when Brenda was in because it was less interresting later but the screenplay was made so as Shannen had a bad behaviour with the rest of the Cast.
But it was also cool with Valerie's presence till the end. If Shannen stayed,another wedding maybe would have been made: Dylan and Brenda.
But Im glad the Cast reunited for the reboot even if it was cancelled for a Second season and as it was especially made for Luke Perry Memorial.And Im also glad that Shannen and Jennie reconciled.That God makes a miracle and that prayings have full energy in order Shannen be victorious again of this 4 and dangerous Level of her cancer.
R.I.P to Dustin 'Screetch'Diamond who passed away on Monday of the 4 Level Cancer.

For years everyone on the cast was frustrated with Shannen. She had the best parking spot, she made more money than any of the other actors, she was always late and kept the cast waiting, etc. It was a group decision for Shannen to leave the show. Because Tori‘s dad was the producer, Tori was the one that had to go to her dad and explain the situation which ultimately ended with Shannen being written off.

I used to watch it when it was on, I tried to never miss an episode. I did miss Shannen when she left. I stopped watching the show a while after the stories became too fantastic. Also the group was kind of "incestuous" (one of Steve's girlfriends said it and I agree), Kelly stole Brenda's boyfriend Luke and then later dumped him to be with Brenda's brother Brandon.

the characters got on my nerves in the original 90210. but i was kind of excited to see the group together again in the reboot. it had an ambitious storyline that i thought was refreshing and had given a chance. not many others did though. shame.
