That's a good explanation as well as fast. I'm currently having this problem. I hope i would recover from it within a month.
You’re welcome! Hope you recover quickly 🙌
I doesn’t help 😭
Hi ! Man i don't know why you are getting so low views ,your content is just amazin
Hey. I’m not worried about views. Just looking to help people that find my content. 👍
I only have pain when I rotate the elbows in. When the elbows are flared out more 90 degrees, no pain.
🤔
My shoulder pain sets in when i focus on retracting and depressing my scapula, in both pushup, benchpress and dips. Shoulder pressing is totally fine though
Some of the technique cues have changed in regards to retracting and depressing the shoulder blades. They are suppose to move to help stabilize the shoulder. Retracting and depressing aren’t always appropriate
I didn't feel pain during push-ups but a few seconds there was intense pain in both shoulders, the pain stopped when I started typing this, lasted a few minutes. This has never happened before 😭
Is this bad?
It happens generally when you put extreme stress on your muscles therefore I encourage you to be careful
What you can do is do some warmup Or stretches of your arms and shoulder and also give little rest to your arms after some time instead of doing it continuously
It’s tough to say without doing an evaluation. Pain can be tricky.
Kinda off topic but, about four and a half weeks ago, my clavicle started to hurt while I was benching. The doctor said it was a sprain. Haven't done any chest related workouts since and the pain vanished.
Tried doing push ups not too long ago, and the pain, though faint, returned.
Should I also stop doing pushups altogether?
Hard to say. Pain isn't always an indication to stop but it's not always great to just push through either.
How is it now?
@@based666 After taking a whole two and a half months off of chest exercises, my clavicle healed and I'm back to the gym now. No pain at all, though from time to time, there's a slight ache I get when I hold my grip a bit too wide while benching, so I use a more narrow grip instead. Other than that, I'm pretty good. I think the sprain was caused from using a grip that was too wide for my anatomy
@@aquaticinsanity6127 My left shoulder is also aching when i am rotating and working on shoulders as well as chest. I wass thinking about injury, but after your response i am not that worried. Btw i am 15 and new to gym
@@based666 It's great to hear that you've recently joined the gym. Keep up the grind! As for your shoulder, I'd still advise to get it checked by a medical professional if you can, just to be sure. In the meantime, you can do exercise variants that don't trigger your shoulder pain
Quick question
I have shoulder pain during pushups and dips , should i take time off the gym and rest or can i train(even if its with lighter weights ) . I want to know if the pain goes away after time or if ill have to face this my whole life 😶
It depends on how irritated the shoulder is. Sometimes people can still do a modified training session, others need a little load management.
@@MichaelBraccio thanks
I see that you reply to most comments
Definitely sub 🙂
@@akylios5003 I try to reply to as many as I can! Thanks for the sub!
My right shoulder got dislocated 15 years ago when I was a little kid, and now when I do push-ups I feel pain in the right shoulder but I never feel pain in the left one, what should I do? It’s killing because I love push-ups but this pain makes me hate it
It’s tough to say without an examination. I’d find a healthcare provider that works with shoulders so they can do an assessment and figure out what they best approach is to get back to push ups.
Hurts when I raise it up too. But only in certain positions. Push up wise the pain is so bad I struggle with one.
My shoulders don't hurt but they pop when I do pushups is this bad?
Sometimes. Most of the time it’s normal though.
Where should I feel soreness after pushups? In my biceps or near the chest above the biceps, near the shoulder, but not really in that area if you get what I mean, like right near the armpit but above that
Form error
The push up is going to work a lot of the upper body. Depending on the form, usually the pecs and triceps are the primary muscle groups worked.
chest, triceps, shoulders, and maybe the settatus anterior. If you hold your core than it will be sore core as well.
@@MichaelBraccioI feel pain while doing push-ups in the area this person mentioned (above the armpits in the outer chest). Any way to get rid of that?
I have a pain from push ups and pull ups right there. But i have no idea what you just said. What do i need to do again? Obviously I don’t turn my hands inward
Basically trying to reduce the load on the shoulders by doing an incline push up and gradually build up from there
@@MichaelBraccio i see. Thanks. I just don't understand how this could help me. Doing an incline pushup is still a push up, doing the same motion. I feel like i should be doing something else, like a counter move or a streach. Because when that happened to me for the first time a little more then a year ago, i had to take a break from chin-ups, pull-ups and push ups for like 3-4 months. So it's very frustrating
@@BAD_B0O0Y Correct. The incline push-up is to see if it is a load-dependent issue. So if the pain is relieved with an incline push-up, then start with that and then progress back to a regular push-up. But sometimes, strengthening of the shoulder is needed. It all depends on what is leading to the pain.
Left shoulder hurts when i get up on the push up for some reason
May I ask for help. I'm not necessarily weaker than other people my age, in fact I can lift relatively heavy objects, but I've always struggled with push-ups.
I tried adjusting my elbows and hand placement, and I even began with wall push-ups but the pain affects my shoulders before anything else, instead of my chest.
Could this be adjustment to an unfamiliar movement, or can this be mitigated through adjustments in form?
It's difficult to say. It might not be a load issue on the shoulder that is the reason you can't tolerate push ups. So you'd probably want a healthcare provider to do a thorough exam to figure out what's going on.
Is it normal to feel pain
If the "pain" feels like a burn in the muscles you are working(Chest, shoulder and triceps) then yes. But, if the pain is on the shoulder joint, then it is not normal, and is and indicator of another thing, like doing the push up with an incorrect form, flaring the elbows to much, not doing a scapular retracction, shoulder impingment or something like that.
pretty much tbh
Hey, when i do push ups i feel only one side of my pecs hurting, been doing push ups for three months now and never had this issue
Hmmmm.... hard to say exactly when you are feeling the pain now. Might be worth it to have someone check it out for you
@@MichaelBraccio nvm! I fixed it the same day it was just my form my friend noticed it and toll me, thanks anyways!
Good, thanks.
hey man, really thanks for the tips, like after i did 50 push up, i couldnt even wake up the next day, my shoulders wasnt even moving , it was alot of pain, thanks man
Glad that the shoulder is feeling better. Cheers to 2023
Just curious, my shoulders hurt now after doing inclined pushups, made sure shoulders are as close to my body as possible, hand just below chest when going down. Is my hand position wrong?
Hard to say. Sometimes it’s because you loaded the shoulder in a way that it isn’t used to. Sometimes it’s still an irritating load for the shoulder.
