There was a guy who played fallout 76 for 8-10hs a day during the first weeks, leaving ammo and supplies for new players in some key locations... Well the Dark Souls II one is actually an issue with security.
In order to combat the rampant hackers of DS1, they decided to add a check to their NetCode that made sure your Game files were legit.
Obviously with the Fix Mod, they were not. Thus the System banned you.

One stupid story:
I installed and played my first rounds on titanfall 2's northstar Client. I played vanilla attrition aka normal pvp. After some time and destroying the enemy team so hard with dying only 3 times in a 24 killstreak i was banned without reason or explanation. The server rules said for New players, returning players(me) and veterans wanting to have fun. I still dont get why i was banned.

I had a similar thing happen to me in overwatch 1 about 2 years ago as well. Suddenly i got permanently banned for "Hacking" as well. It took me about half a year to clear it up and talking to like 20 support workers while half of them were bots that kept denying my request to look into it. In the forums i was flamed and hated because "The system" never is wrong and i absolutly would have hacked. After half a year i got finally unbanned after another ticket where they actually looked into it. They said they would come back to me after they looked into it, instead they unbanned me, closed the ticket without saying anything, not even a "sorry" and left me alone with one lootbox as an excuse apparently.

lost count of Battlefield 4 matches i was kicked from by the admin for "cheating" just because i did great in the match XD
My only "ban" for a game, wasn't banned from the game but from the steam forum. I've played a LOT of Rimworld and got pretty good in the modding scene. Mainly fixing other peoples SHIT. Someone asked for help with their game, it wasn't loading. I asked about mods, he said he didn't have any. I asked about any errors after the game loaded, he pasted some into the posts, I told him the error he was getting was due to mods. He swears he doesn't have mods. Still nice and polite, I tell him there's no possible way he's getting the error he's listed without having mods.
20 posts go by and I'm offering different solutions(completely uninstalling/deleting everything etc) and he either isn't doing them, is utterly stupid, or is trolling. I finally lose it and tell him, exact words "It's no wonder nobody else has offered you any help. You're either willfully ignorant, lying, or trolling. I'm done." And yeah only one other person had offered any advice, same shit I had been saying.
Was permanently banned from the steam rimworld forums for hate speech and trolling.......... Yeah go figure. The post only got a few more replies and they all said the same thing and he kept saying it wasn't working. I don't know WTF was wrong with the dude.

This reminds me of a time I got banned from an online amiibo tournament. Basically the group had 2 different rule sets for different types of tournaments and I saw only one. I never knew about the other one since it was my first tournament with that group. I unknowingly had the wrong 1 and they banned me so I explained the issue. They still didn’t let me back in

I find it exceptionally weird that Epic Games has access of a list of known or suspected terrorists. I guess with various in-game currencies you could argue that funds could be funneled for...nefarious purposes but it's still very odd.

Warframe devs are snowflakes. They have a massive list of bannable words that ban you withlout warning if you type them in chat, a lot of which are just no0rmal every day words.

when the tree of saviour mmo came out i was so dedicated to it that i didn't log out my account for 3 days strait
one day i logged in just to find out that i was banned for botting
on a different region server and at the time they were kinda shaming botters and putting the banned accounts on at their site + the server it was in
my account was there on a completely different server i took it as an accomplishment
no lifed it so hard that i transcended my server and got banned in another

I'm surprised this wasn't entirely bans from Rockstar games. Me and several friends got put in cheater lobbies in GTAV over and over, because cheaters kept giving us money out of nowhere. Like, you couldn't even refuse. It would just pop up saying "so and so gave you $X", and a little while later Rockstar would accuse you of cheating.
I got suspended and reset over buying a shark card. I sold some items on the steam market and bought a shark card and was promptly reset and suspended for 30 days for cheating. I paid $100 to rockstar to get reset and accused of cheating.

Y'know how many times that happened to me? One time I got TP'd to an island, and these people were shooting bags of money at me. I just didn't move, never got banned. Happened a few times. Had multiple millions at that point.
I have gotten so much money this way, however never got accuse for anything, jsut cheaters who gave it to me in first place.

2:53 something similar happened to me So I had a name with a old phone number in it and I played with that name since 2018 and just recently they had changed my name due to it being “inappropriate” and they made me pay 10$ to change it to something I liked because they changed it to temp- a bunch of numbers.
Not the same case, but baaaack in years, I believe around 2005/2006, I was pretty good at Gunbound. Then this aim hack came out and lots of ppl started to using it.
I was ALWAYS blamed for hacking every time i hit someone from range, and frequently people ragequit the matches.
This got me so pissed off for couple of weeks that i stopped play that game forever.
I never liked hacks but since then, now I HATE hacks.
I know of a Mortal Kombat player that was banned for cheesing almost an entire tournament using an overpowered special move. The OFFICIAL reason was a "disrespectful variation name". Problem with that is, if it was his variation name, why did they let him make it ALL THE WAY to Top 8 before they DQ'd him? It's widely believed that he was banned for making the game (or arguably the players) look bad.
The OW one was just weird, why even join a team and go to a tournament with them if all you're going to do is troll. That to me deserves a IP and hardware ban from the game, given you know for a fact that he's going to do it again down the road to some other team that he plays with.
Interesting thing, The Division 2's anti-cheat system would block The Division 2 from even launching if you had any Ivona2 TTS voices installed on your computer. It detected them as hacks. When I contacted Ubisoft about it, they said that I needed to contact EasyAntiCheat because it was their software that was causing the problem. When I contacted EasyAntiCheat, they informed me they had resolved that issue months before the launch of The Division 2, and that Ubisoft was using an older version.
Not really a ban, but a case of mistaken software identity preventing access. The EasyAntiCheat software would even throw up an error message naming the specific DLL file as the reason for not allowing the launch to continue, and identifying it as a "known hack". Though I also believe that part of this was due to the fact that The Division 2 has an accessibility option to use TTS to aid those with less than perfect eyesight.
Correction: You were NOT banned for having the Deathbed Smalls in your Inventory.
You were flagged and got a pop-up saying that you have a certain period of time to get rid of the item before you'll be banned.
So they did give you a grace period.
Altho if you've played DS3 you'll know better than picking up Items from random Invaders, altho that doesn't help because DS3 will Auto-Shadow Ban you for a Cheater invading you.

I remember the whole deal with jarvis which honestly is the only one deserving on this list. Lots of the other bans that made this list are either the devs anti-cheat system being broken, the devs not caring enough to fix their mistakes, or the devs putting in things only to cause issues for others and instead of fixing the issue and saying sorry they just don't care.
Gee, it almost sounds like lots of these other bans are at the fault of the creators of the game and not the players, with the exception of Jarvis that is who deserved it. I mean being too good at a game and that results in a ban? Or reporting a rather well known issue only to get banned? Heck even the teabagging one which sure some may find rude it's also incredibly harmless and anyone getting that upset over it has some serious issues and is incredibly thin skinned.

If you came here because of the thumbnail, let me explain something. Bullet hole messages in gta don’t exist. This is because the bullet holes will disappear after 30 seconds. Meaning that message is less permanent then what the thumbnail suggests.
Had something like this happen to a buddy of mine back in the early days of BF1 just before the Eastern front DLC was released. We were playing on ST. Quentin Scar as the Germans and this one guy was killing it as a sniper on the other team. My buddy and I decided to get this guy and I played decoy and he went for the kill. My buddy killed the guy when he took the bait and my friend knew he would try getting revenge, so he relocated to a better vantage point and got him again, rinse and repeat (Guy kept on being a sniper and was making it easy which guy he was from the way he acted). We started to win and the guy went from having an insane K/D to having a crappy one. Near the end my friend got him one last time with the bayonet and made him the final death of the match. Within half an hour he gets banned for "Hacking" and he called them to explain everything. He was back in the game within an hour. Best way to know you made someone cry.

I remember one day my dad just playing AC Origins and stumbling upon the wall painting of a nude woman which he screenshoted and posted on a community. He got banned by the PS moderators, but demanded to be unbanned as the contents were found exclusivelly INSIDE the game and posted on a community FOR the game, threatening to sue Ubisoft for their game content resulting in his ban.
In a matter of hours, the account was unbanned and he was free to game on.

He had it as his first and last name and then I just so happened to *change my name* to that as my first and MIDDLE name... Brilliant system...

Got banned from overwatch for reporting a matchmaking exploit, though the appropriate channel, which was a forum.. which lead to people abusing the exploit, which resulted in me getting banned for "encouraging exploiting the game".. probably still has not been fixed in ow2

My stance on cheating: in MP NO WAY, in SP Sure why not? (play way to many games to remember al button combos and to really get good at them)
Banning Is a good tool, but it's hard to get the system right, it's way to often either to sensitive or not sensitive enough, flagging innocents or not flagging those who cheat and ruin it for others (like dropping "forbidden loot" or Killing as soon as you spawn
