You really needed to be in Los Angeles and Ventura counties in the late 60s and early 70s to fully understand the lyrics to Ventura Highway. There are so many things that happened in the area that are tied into this song. The line about Venice is just one of them. There was a great painting was done on the wall of a building that showed Venice in the snow. Then someone built a building and blocked the view of the painting.

You really needed to be in Los Angeles and Ventura counties in the late 60s and early 70s to fully understand the lyrics to Ventura Highway. There are so many things that happened in the area that are tied into this song. The line about Venice is just one of them.
