Late Night with Seth Meyers

Writers are perennially undervalued. I really hope they get what they're worth.
So Scollins just gets paid with stacks of tank tops.
@@abemrofchak dang, you beat me to it. I was gonna say they should give him a cheese wheel. He strikes me as a cheesy guy
Considering Seth Meyers was a head writer at SNL, I’d assume so.
Yes, and for folks who don't know, this isn't really about Seth's writers; it's about the fact that streaming services (like Netflix) have been crying poor for years, and don't pay writers residuals. (On a traditional network, if your show airs again as a rerun, the writers/actors get a little more money. Netflix/Amazon/etc don't do any of that; you get your salary, and that's it.)
Well, worth is innate and infinite, so that'd be impossible. (SIDENOTE CORRECTION) However, yeah, I hope they get what they're requesting.
My bok choy joke made it to Corrections! I've never been so proud in all my life.
Thank you, Seth and the crew, for making such a great show!
Congratulations
Now you can screenshot the original post and the closed cation pic of Seth talking about it and frame them both
Congrats. It needs some work.
I laughed! I thought it was funny. 😂😂❤
I'm genuinely happy for you lol. Seth looked into the camera and said your joke was "structurally sound." That means something coming form a host/former head writer!
Love that the captions distinguish between "laughter" and "light laughter." Who knew transcribers were the harshest critics?
Seth's covered this on Corrections before 😅
@@phelan_pt link pls!
Yes we are harsh critics indeed. It comes in part from getting to pay meticulous attention to every detail. 😅🍍
They are some petty bitches LOL
The most surprisingly emotional Corrections I've ever seen. Still, as a jackal:
CORRECTION: Trauma exists within you however it exists; it is not only valid in comparison to other traumas, and shouldn't be downplayed. Being told you don't belong is not nothing.
Also: pay writers what they deserve, dammit. Creating something better than the sum of its parts is a uniquely human endeavor that deserves respect.
Seth’s support of the Writer’s Guild is really sweet and commendable! We’ll be here whenever you get back and good luck to the writers!
Some of those hosts in '07 just "wrote" their own material and stayed on air.
@@sheltonalexander6785 Scabs
@@sheltonalexander6785 Hopefully we get a sequel to Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog!
@@bibliophilelady6106 Hopefully it gets resolved. Every joke has been told online in some type of form about the news of the day. Between you and an assistant can punch up Twitter jokes and craft a monologue.
I agree it was good of him to bring it up, but also, he is a member.
I watched John Mulaney’s new special. It’s all about his intervention and rehab. John mentions Seth as one of the 12 people at the intervention. I know they’ve talked about it on Seth’s show before. Worth a watch.
I love these honest moments Seth. You turned this show into something truly special together with your team.

Almost giving one hope, no?

salpingo-oophorectomy or an oophorectomy really are not fun. Look it up male jackals. Female jackals will more than likely already know what they are
Seth’s Locker Room trauma story feathers in nicely to the post director Kevin Smith made recently.
There is nothing else like this in all the world. The writing: brilliant. The delivery: flawless. Nobody uses pauses as poignantly as Seth. I watch a different rpisode every night to fall asleep. I hope the writer’s strike is over soon, i’m becoming an imsomniac.
Unions work. Amazon, Starbucks and everyone else need to make sure they don't give up.
If you do wind up going on strike, please know that we support you fully. The demands are extremely reasonable, and the people refusing to meet them are greedy assholes who think there's some kind of high score they can go for by gathering as much money as possible, no matter what the cost. We love and support you.
🫡THANK YOU, WRITERS!
I truly hope you get what you deserve. A creative, humorous mind is hard to come by.
"A creative, humorous mind is hard to come by." So hard to come by, in fact, that Seth has to put up with Scollins!
Writers be like “Get what we deserve? What did we ever do to you?”
Having steady work in this industry is hard to come by. And I don’t know which writers are producing brilliant stuff on the 95% of jobs where we are figuring out how to shoot the Scheit that is given to non-writers guild to solve. Thank you for 8 months of unemployment.

Never been prouder. As a union guy myself, this hit really hard. Wonderful use of the platform and space. Thanks, Seth!
Shoutout to the people who wrote in about Rosalind Franklin. She really had to wait for so long until her contributions were justly recognised. 🙌🙌🙌
Not to mention Ada Lovelace!
It's ridiculous that Ally refused to give her her due.
My absolute FAVORITE science joke is as follows: What did Watson and Crick discover? Rosalind Franklin's notes.
@@you_are_soul I don't know how it is outside of Germany. But when you are taught about nuclear fission here, you always mention Lise Meitner in one breathe with Otto Hahn.

Missing a week or more of Seth and Co is always hard but if it happens due to a writers’ strike it will be in the best cause. You are the wind beneath Seth’s wings and also set him up for us jackals. Love you all. Even Sal. Solidarity ✊🏼🪧❤️🕊⚖️
The 2007-2008 WGA strike lasted 14 weeks...he might be gone for a lot longer than a week or so...but yes I too support this and am glad that Seth continues to be on the right side of history and uses his platform to amplify it.
I hope the writers get what they are asking for because you guys work so hard to make us laugh. I remember the writers’ strike in 2007-8. It was so sad how long it lasted.
Thank you for another fantastic week of shows!
The 07-08 strike was sad, but the Colbert, Stewart, Conan "feud" was such a wonderful thing that wouldn't have happened otherwise.
I realized during this week's Surprise Inspection that all the faces are the same. I don't know what the normal turnover of writers is on a comedy show, but that segment's been running for a year and a half - and so many of them have stuck around.
I like to think that's a reflection of how Seth must respect and value his writers.
You can watch some of his SAG-AFTRA interviews on RUclips. He answers some questions about creating his show & how writers were initially selected, but only 1-2 spots available for new writers each year b/c high retention rate.
Union strong! We support you and the writers; we'll be here when you guys get back.
I also support unions, but it saddens me that so many people who would benefit from them consider trade unions to be "Communist." How soon we forget that Lech Wolesa and the Solidarity union FOUGHT Communism! I blame the poor USA public education system, especially in areas that are fighting "wokism" (such as here in Florida).
Aly, Sal, Jenny, Ian, Amber, Brian, Shoemaker and the whole team: regardless of how ya get burnt on surprise inspections, Seth loves y'all, and the jackals do too. Here's hoping that the negotiations work out, and we get to hear your laughs in the studio next week.
Can't forget Scollins!
Scollins should be omitted as you were listing writers Seth likes...MIKE Ya Burnt!
@@christophertownsend3820 He shouldn't have shoved that kid.
Forgot Dina Gusovsky! ❤
Couldn't have said it better myself. I'll still be here waiting for the show, regardless of how long it takes to get writers the pay they so very much deserve.
A lava lamp does instantly give light, just doesn't instantly give "lava". The "lava" is a wax that takes a while to heat up and become less dense than water but the light comes on the moment you flip the switch.
Ya Burnt!
Mine is a dial not a switch. But yes you turn on the light and then eventually that little itty bitty night light bulb heats up that big blob of wax. And you would definitely see someone creepily sitting in the room before the blob of lava began to break apart and float around.
Does the light permeate the lava, or penetrate it?

Wally’s not laying low, he’s the one holding all the cards.
Silliness aside that was a truly heartfelt sign-off. Thank you for sharing.
I'm in a union. This kind of negotiation is so important. Solidarity with you and all your writers, Seth!
I have always been so impressed with how much Seth supports his writers, making sure that they're known on air, giving them spots to shine and lifting them up. And so I'm not surprised to see him show support for the writers potentially striking. Here's hoping it doesn't happen and the writers get what they're asking for, but if we don't see you, Seth, we'll understand. We'll hate it--especially since you were just gone for two weeks--but we'll understand.
@Lara S , I was literally thinking the EXACT same thing!🤞🏼💙✌🏼
I'm watching 30 Rock from the start. "It's all about the writers Liz Lemon!" - the fantastic Tracy Jordan !
Very good point. The other guys rarely mention their writers at all. It still takes a good comedian to make the jokes work, but there's no way they could keep up doing topical humor, especially now a days with soo much going on. I feel like there may be some unappreciated interns who watch hours of news to keep the writers fed too, IDK. Peace
Seth calling the football uniform an outfit says enough on why he was cut from the team lol
wow i am so inspired! i love the use of the platform to support the writers guild and will be joining the support in all the ways possible! there are no audiences and therefore no profits without the writers. we need you and we love you. thanks for keeping us afloat through literally everything that happens in our stupid lives ♥️

To all of the talented writers and all other staff, we stand with you. Do what you must do. There is a seismic shift occurring across our society and economy, and the actions we take now will affect all of our lives for years to come. Stand up for what is right and fair, and do not let the very few take advantage of the many.
Absolutely agree!!!
👍🏼✍🏼🤞🏼
Seth, you would have made an EXCELLENT fencer. You need a good dose of snarky intelligence and not too many muscles to have success. Plus the sport is conducted in French so you could use all that talent as well. Signed, a former Olympian.
Hilary's going to love this!
I fully support the writers and other unions who are trying to negotiate in order to get compensation and employment benefits for their hard work. I honestly thought writers (and everyone involved in making the shows) were getting residuals every time I streamed an episode on Netflix or wherever. I was horrified to learn that writers make LESS now then they did when I was a kid, due to streaming companies not paying fairly. Please support the writers, animators, actors, and other creatives who make the art that we love. What they are asking for is fair and I want to keep having more creative and new tv & movies to watch!
Maybe you could incorporate your Rupert Murdoch Eat Bugs catch phrase into your Broadway musical, Cicada, cicada.
It could be the catch phrase of a mouthy pigeon that frequents the windowsill of Nathan Lane’s apartment building.
If the writers strike, there'll be NO excuse for "Cicada Cicada " not to get finished! Nathan Lane sounded genuinely excited to star in it!
Stand by your people who make you laugh every day or night.
Omg the “Cooorections” at the beginning! Pure genius! I love this show sooo much!
Thank you to the writers, also thank you Seth for recognizing the writers and standing up for them and with them. I also love that we didn't only get a surprise inspection in the show this week, but also a surprise jackal inspection in Corrections. If anything, that really underscored the point of standing with the writers :) Hopefully we get to see you next week - not just for the selfish reason that I need my shot of Seth Meyers every day, but mostly because that will mean that these hard-working people have received the recognition they deserve.
Nice sentiments, Ben. Stay classy.
If there is any show that has credited the writers as much as the deserve, it is Late Night with Seth. I love that he pulls back the curtain a bit in almost every show just to give us a peak at what it takes to put a show like this together. Truly commendable as well as very funny.

Much support for the writers .. they made us laugh through the pandemic .. when it was so very dark .. they deserve all the best !🙏💜💜💜
Glad Seth and team are supporting the strike!!
DeSantis using 2 fingers for yoghurt is exceptionally smart, as it saves his pinky for chocolate pudding on the side, a shocker I know.

Sending so much love and gratitude to the writers and Seth who have kept us laughing even though some of the darkest days. ❤
*fingers crossed*
I hope the writers get what they want. (Though frankly: you guys deserve more.)
Seth, FYI - depending on when you saw your former coach, he was likely the “school counselor,” not a “guidance counselor.” The profession moved away from the latter title progressively over the last few decades to better reflect the active, rather than just responsive, part we take in our students’ education. Also another profession that has unions fighting to try to get us the respect we deserve, but so rarely receive. Fingers crossed for the Writers’ Guild!
The CC still says you get [laughter] even if it's just one dude in the audience, so according to CC you're killin it!
When I heard Will Ferrell picked Seth as his favorite night show host I felt so happy as if he picked me 😂😂😂
Chickens totally eat other chickens, so they could definitely say, "tastes like chicken." However, I think a talking chicken would be the real story there.

Not to mention the philosophical breakthrough involving understanding that she tastes like the other chickens. I think Descartes might have mentioned this as a corollary to his "cogito ergo sum" treatise.

I've been on a Seth binge all evening (October 2nd, 2023) in anticipation for their return tonight. It's been 5 months and the "See me when you see me" just kinda punched me in the gut emotionally. Like, omg, yes! We get to see you now, Seth! And we're so so so happy that the strike was successful. Knowing that Seth and the writers and corrections and Wally are finally back and with a good deal just makes me really happy.
So glad Seth & Co are back this week! Was about to go to sleep but staying up to watch this!
Corrections has cemented Seth as the best late night comedy host, or just host, in general. Before this, he was just one of the shows I watched. My thanks to Seth and his entire team. Thanks for all of your hard work!
My God, he did a Surprise Inspection of the Jackals.
Best luck with negotiations.
This WGA strike is definitely going to be different than the last one. If it happens, we will be here when you get back or whatever your staff decides to do next. We support the WGA and other entertainment unions!!!
Seth, I'd like to thank any deity in existence that you didn't play football. Your brain is precious, I am so glad your coach could see it.

You could always invite some jackals to the negotiations. After like 10 minutes they will just give the writers whatever they want.
Goddammit, Corrections isn't supposed to make me verklempt! Thank you for the heartfelt moment and being a champion for all of your staff!
I'm so impressed with the writers for sticking together and Seth for publicly supporting them, which can likely have negative repercussions for his career. I hope the writers demands are met, and the show continues as usual. That being said, if the show is put on hiatus, I genuinely think Seth should post a 20 minute, low budget, Tucker Carlson -style video making corrections for all of the mistakes he made in his off week.
While, I love this Idea. It would make Seth a Scab, and not help the writers union. But thanks for thinking out of the Box. I feel your Pain!

I saw there was a new episode and verbally said YAY! Then I realized I'd never be a Jackal. I must work on my cold dark heart.
Allow me to disagree. You've already left a comment; thus, your descent into jackaldom has already begun! It's OK, not all comments need to be negative towards Seth to be a jackal. Just being here at all is enough. (And you get to attack other jackals, if so inclined).

Best part of the week.
The strike scares me a lot. I live and work in a small market, all of our jobs are basically commercial with the rare film and television. My fear is our work will dry up too since production will have surplus crew every where. That being said the writers guild is in the right and aren't asking for anything unreasonable.
The writers strike, which I support, destroyed TV by creating the reality show phenomenon.
I wish the writers the best, I can't go back to only reality shows...
"Reality TV" is not life. It's a torturous mirage to make all the viewers hate their own lives! We need less of it, not more!
