I don't really know. I think doing some more jobs research (programming/web developer) in both countries can make it more clear to me.

Hi Sara. I reached out to some recruiters in Cyber Security in Norway. I was really surprised that wages/contract rates were so much lower than in Ireland. With good health insurance in Ireland, the difference in health provision is removed (one of my biggest concerns). I love Norway, but this is a problem. Ireland is also beautiful (on the west coast particularly, where I am).

I second renumeration being a problem. I'm an IT professional and left Norway for another country in the EU a couple years back. Salary/cost-of-living ratio is better here than in Norway for people in IT just like in multiple other countries. In Germany for example, your salary will be higher and cost of living lower than in Norway.
I thing Norway is experiencing IT worker shortage specifically due to the high cost of living and insufficient salaries compared to other European countries and hence the only Europeans who would choose Norway are those that really enjoy the Norwegian culture, learn the local language and participate in the local life.

IT workers are lacking and in demand everywhere. Norway has very high taxes and not that high IT salaries (say compared to the US), while being very expensive, therefore many other places where IT are paid much better. Bad weather and hard social life don't help either.

It will be even easier next year! NOK will sunk even lower, prices will rise, taxes will rise. The outcome? mass exodus :D I run away from Norway to Switzerland and what I can tell you - Life is again beautiful! If you have socialists views on the world, than stay in Norway or come to Norway, some people do like to struggle. But if you are ambitious, don't believe in this social crap like work/life balance etc and you actually want to have something, make money, improve and be independent than avoid Norway like plague. Norwegian system knows better how you should live, Norwegian system is allknowing and all mighty, you are there to obey and follow - the bullshit that was invented 30 years ago. Public health system that they are so proud of? even their king went for surgery abroad... that is how bad the system is, its "free", but most of things you will hear " you need to do it privately". So my monthy private insurance cost me less abroad than public in Norway that is no good. From my earnings I pay 18,6% of tax here and in Norway - 46% from this year ( I work two jobs)! For highways I pay 40chf per year, how much do you pay in Norway? :D, Norway has finished in winter 2022, and died in March 2023,
So good luck! in No-way! (Norway)
Maybe you heard it too if you know rich Norwegians, " Norway is a rich man paradise, but workers hell" and it was before 2021, When the Left was elected rich people started to run away :D to the point that they made exit tax, and now they are even improving it to keep people in :D
Norway is safe, Norway is beautiful and it is the best place to live, from middle of the may till September, but to live there all year and work, is a nightmare. Ikke stress at work, sounds nice at first but than you will realise this means "idiocracy"
But hey, go end experience it, third world maybe interested and will believe in Norwegian propaganda :D
And to you Norwegians and residents of Norway, when it started to get worse? because if your answer is 2017-2018 than you can thanks one of your politician, who was recruited by Klaus Schwab, :D because " you will have nothing and be happy" is happening now in Norway. long lines to the food banks, but still every where I hear and read about Norway is the same propaganda " We are the best, life here is great and everywhere else is worse and here people are the happiest"
Most of young people I met when I asked them about their dreams- they do not have dreams! But they want something - to leave Norway! because in their own country they cannot enjoy life. They can not go to the clubs and party, and why? beer 14 euro in the club! taxi in the village 28km 100euro and eating out? forget it! sometimes I think that the restaurants are so expensive because they treat it as entertainment :D
Norwegians are great people but why they let themselves be controlled? when they lost the will to progress? Living in the past, thinking about future and forgeting about the present that is Norway,
Few thousands years ago people invented a system and called it a God
In 1970's Norway also invented a system but didn't named it, how often I heard - " system says", " according to the system", " we follow the system"
AVE SYSTEM but I prefer to use a brain :D
And Welcome in the European Union family, because that will unfortunatelly happent to you, that is why your government made you a crisis ( country who has energy, oil, military industry etc should prosper like no other in europe) , but they made a crisis for you so you yourself will want to joint EU, that is how socialists work - you are free but you have to do as we want (lke shadow bans - we cannot forbid you to post something, but we will make it invisible for others :D)
You may not see it but the fact that prices fluctuate (energy, petron etc) is not because of the market prices, it is there to create "proper habits" - it is calles " boiling the frog"
Before November 2022, each month I was left with 15000nok (1600 euro), so 19200euro per year changing nothing in my life in 2023 I was left, year in total, 70000nok so not even 6000 euro
Doing the same things in Switzerland, even having more fun and social life, 4100chf was left after 2 months.
P.S The strangest thing is that the poorest people in Norway are actually Norwegians, imigrants when they don't like it they move, refugees and south "imigrants" gets social benefits, but the common young Norwegians are the poorest, why? beats me

    • @BlueRabbit_
      @BlueRabbit_ 3 дня назад

You were able to save 19200€ in 2022 ? Dude that’s a lot. Heck for some even 6000€ in savings it’s a lot. Where do you come from ?? Where I came from saving 300/500€ per month (after all the expenses and some extras) it’s really good starting point. And of course you have to share the house with a roommate or your girlfriend/boyfriend otherwise you can’t afford even the rent alone or you will be left with almost nothing at the end of the month.
P.S I assume that you were living alone, am I right ?
Because again, if you did, even saving 6000 while living alone is a lot.

Were I a company looking to take some IT talent on, I would probably start fishing in red states in the US. There is good talent in those states that are being severely abused. Offer them healthcare and you will likely get lifetime loyalty. It's just a thought...

Hey Sara, me and my wife started working for Ubisoft 12 years ago and have been working in IT ever since. We have double citizenship UK and Romanian which grants us both great flexibility, we own a house in England and are full time employed here. Our dream is to live in Norway or Finland and it would mean the world to us if you could put us in contact with any IT recruiters that can handle English speaking applicants. We do not speak Norwegian yet, sorry. Do you need my email address or anything I can do to initiate contact?
