    • @ColleenMarble
      @ColleenMarble 2 месяца назад

      @@alicec552 Yes, we paid 15 years, it's paid off, we're insured for life, and we can use our policy benefits for long-term care. We can also use the earnings for income during retirement. It was worth it to us, but I know Dave Ramsey says never get whole life. I say it depends on the circumstances. It's not for everyone, but term life is definitely affordable AND essential.

      Top quality fish can arrive at your door for less than store prices from Wild Alaskan Seafood Company; we also have used Hello Fresh and saved because the food is excellent and you get just what you need and no waste. Also, increasing veggies and whole grains and legumes can keep protein and other nutrients high with smaller portions of meat. Check out what other cultures do and often you can get great inspiration from them (tortillas and beans, rice and veggies with a little meat, etc.). Good luck! I know it’s hard but you sound intelligent, you can do it!

      Give up steak and coffee. That should save you plenty. Eat smaller portions of meat and larger portions of vegetables, particularly high-fiber, cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, kale, Brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, cauliflower, cabbage, etc. Try intermittent fasting (give up breakfast) and drink only water. Eliminate refined or processed carbohydrates: leave the skin on potatoes, and switch from white rice to brown rice. Since you belong to a warehouse club, buy the rotisserie chickens regularly. They are the best deal. Each chicken should provide enough meat for four meals (or two meals for two people). You can boil the carcass when you’re done and make your own stock. Other inexpensive meats are pork chops, pork shoulder, and ham. If you must eat beef, buy London broil instead of steak, or buy chuck roast and make a pot roast. Don’t grocery shop when you are upset, sad, angry, excited, nervous, anxious, or hungry. Host or attend potlucks frequently, and always make the cheapest dish you can get away with (“vegetarian” food is great-no money spent on meat!).

    Life insurance on it's own is the worst advice to give people, best to put that money into your superannuation that has life insurance built into it and up the amount, that way if you live you get that money you have put into it and not just waste it.

    Watching during/after COVID, I totally cringed when the little one put community toys in his mouth. I would never be okay with that but it was especially hard to watch. But I know it's inevitable - that's what babies do.

    I love this show but this time the numbers don't add up. If he owes 60k and she owes 3k how can they have everything paid off in a month at 3k per month?! It would take at least 21 months not counting interest - still not bad. Did I miss something? Somebody help.

      You are correct. Gail often just says this wrong. What they do over the few weeks is to come up with a repayment plan, not actually pay the debt. That would be impossible.
