Susanna Hoffs is one of the most underrated artists from the '80s, especially her band "The Bangles", which deserves to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Always have loved her and now I love her even more for her film picks. All great films that I personally love and have in my collection! Also, Criterion never disappoints us with Closet Picks. Keep it up!
Love this woman. Her and the rest of the ladies from The Bangles, Joan Jett, Belinda Carlisle, Pat Benetar where powerful women in the early to mid 80’s. They made a lasting impression on me and made me realize early in my single digits that being straight is the right path for me.

My local public library has a Criterion selection, so this video immediately sent me looking for Seconds. Lucked out. What a ride. Klute is also one of my all-time favorites. Film Noir set in gritty 1970s NYC.
Susanna was the soaring female voice for the soundtrack of my college years. Thirty five years have passed and I still can't look away when she's on screen. Sixty four is the new thirty two :-)

Susanna and The Bangles are so embedded in my childhood. My older Sister loved them and got style tips from their videos lol. Great closet pics and that story of Ben Gazzara's daughter being her childhood friend, hanging around their house while Peter Falk, Ben Gazzara and John Cassavetes played pool was great.
Late to the Criterion Closet party (comment #565) and I'm sure its been said 500 times already. But how is she still that beautiful? My high school MTV crush, and she still looks like that almost 40 years later. Some people have all the DNA!
Susanna Hoff is a perfect example of a person who gets even more beautiful with age. That combined with her talent & energy, this woman can probably move mountains. Ugh, i'm simping.
OMG, this brings back some freaky memories - I fell in love with Beyond the Valley of the Dolls thru a college film club in about 1989. It was kind of a paisley underground thing, but the musicians I hung with all recognized the songs as high quality compositions, and fkn great pop. "Look on Up At the Bottom" is like a fantastic but lost Jefferson Airplane track, delivered with real power by Lynn Carey. Thank you, Ms Hoffs, that was cool.
I remember standing next to Susanna Hoffs in a book store back in 1986. I was only 11. Glad to see her doing a Criterion Closet Picks video. I always enjoy these videos.

Susanna Hoffs and the Bangles were great and I was lucky enough to see her in a restaurant with Mike Myers and friends around the Austin Powers era. I liked when she sang she'd always look side-to-side with her big eyes. The original side eye. 😂😍
Great collection of films. Incredibly impressed she chose Seconds, which isn't everybody's cup of tea (probably the slowest paced first half hour in cinema history), but a film that in my opinion is the single most depressing film about human nature that I've ever seen (which is quite the compliment), and I've seen thousands. Hoffs still has those beautiful big "cute eyes" of a teenager, now with the blend of mature and dignified features of an attractive 64 year old, and she still looks great.
