They didn't actually own the 80s, they weren't around long enough. They had, what, two albums while they were at their commercial peak? It's too bad they couldn't get along because they probably would have been a first tier act for another 5+ years. But when they broke up it automatically relegated them to the nostalgia circuit.

The Bangles are so good. Having Annette Zilinskas as your back up bass player to a retired Micki Steele is impressive. Annette and Debbi (The Drummer) are still rocking it out. This song is so great. Timeless band.

I was also a rocker who warmed to the bangles when they released Hazy Shade of Winter. Years later I learned it was a Simon and Garfunkel tune but they played it like an iron maiden song.
They can still hit the harmonies & play their parts. They're better than most bands I've heard from this era in terms of sounding close to what they were.
What's astonishing is hard the riff rocks on acoustic in the original recording. I enjoy the Bangles version more, and Vicki Peterson is an excellent guitarist; but Paul Simon banging that riff on 12-string accoustic is extremely impressive,

I agree this is a great cover of a S&G song. However, you must have missed the Yes cover of "America". IMHO that is the definitive version of that song!
It’s hard to believe that some-if not all-of these ladies’ ages begin with a 6. They play and sing like they did when their ages began with a 2, and the harmonies are spot on.
