20 years ago I took part in a target competition at Connaught ranges outside of Ottawa composing Nato nations. At the time I had a chance to exchange cap badges with the Gurkas. Not only are they tough little buggers but they really know how to drink and boy do they like Canadian beer!
The royal green jackets where great soldiers and friends and so are the ghurkas but I am as well as my friends proud to Say i was a light infantryman from 2 nd battalion
I have nothing but respect for the Ghurkas. And what has happened to their regiment is so wrong. As Skippy Do said, they are gallant warriors. I thank them for protecting me and my family, as I thank everyone in military service for their protection.
I enlisted in The North Staffordshire Regiment ( The Price of Wales') which amalgamated with the South Staffordshire regiment Which Amalgamated with the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters and the heshire Regiment to become 3rd Battalion The Mercian regiment which was then scrapped now that's what's so wrong if you want to talk about wrong.
I love to watch and listening to the light division marching and to hear the buglers playing 👍👍👍👏👏👏. How are the Gurkhas linked with playing the bagpipes and wearing tartan?
This was the very last but ramarkable parade during my 20 year of service in the British Army. Jai Brigade of Gurkhas.
I was 1 RGJ From 1973 to 1977 - transfered to the RAMC, this envokes such wonderful memories, I'm 70 now
Great to See Colin Green

My dad, King's Shropshire Light Infantry said much the same thing.

@brianjones9345 all the County regiments amalgamated out of existence except the Royal Yorkshire Regiment which was an amalgamation itself.
