I know this is old but I agree. My form was terrible when I had low confidence. I would "shuffle" because when I was running I didn't want to make eye contact with people I passed so my head was always down. I also was afraid I looked and sounded weird when I tried to breathe properly so it would hinder my air intake.
Thank you. This was a much needed video. Running is my only fear because I completely suck at it. I leave in almost 3 months and I have a long way to go
Yo your very very helpful I don’t usually comment on peoples pages because I don’t care but I subscribed to you I think u definitely know what your talking about I’m thinking about joining the air force and I wanna get ready and you’re definitely helping with that you don’t stutter u don’t even “Um” in your sentences your not a slow talker your straight to the point your awesome lol thank you man keep these coming I’m sure your helping a lot of people like myself
All RUclipsrs need to take pointers from this video. He's got the perfect sound level to his music and he's using himself to instruct. Not super loud music and subtitles. Good job producing this video.
searched for a video about how to shower quickly, ended up here without even noticing, do not regret it a single bit! very great video! i did not know such a channel exists! wow!
I watched this about a year and a half ago, when it almost killed me to run 14 min 1.5 miles. Left for BMT 358 days ago and, thanks to this and other videos, arrived at Lackland able to run it in under 12. These tips really work.
id also like to add that running with others is great, especially if they are slightly better than you. I joined track this year and it helps with motivation as well as pushing past previous boundaries.
Going for a run right now! Stoked on this journey. I’m currently fat and overweight. I am 190 and gotta get down to to 165 to join the AF. Thanks for the tips and infor and tips on this channel. Thank you sir!
I've read a study that says if you increase the incline of a treadmill 1% it offsets the lack of wind resistance. i find it easier running outside just because when I run on a treadmill I can feel myself holding back, even when I'm borderline sprinting. I'm a lot fast and don't get as tired outside. plus I like to pick a spot at the home stretch and bolt as fast as I can where as on a treadmill you lose explosiveness because you have to manually increase the speed.
Wow. This video is golden. So much helpful information. Really appreciate it. Had to save the video so I can reference it later to review. I especially like the nutrition break down. It seems like it's difficult to get accurate info on what our bodies actually need and why. There are loads of misinformation out there. Makes it confusing.
I cannot wait to enter the Air Force Matt. You inspire me every time I see a video. I will try, TRY to become a SERE but if all else fails I'm looking into security forces! Keep up the videos Matt.
This video was really helpful:) thanks for all the advice I plan on going to the Air Force next year so I have a year to prepare but my run time is 14:30. Trying to make it to 12 mins
Great video, I was actually about to look for something like this. Also, it might look a little silly, but you can put a sock on the mic just until you get a proper windshield/fuzzy thing.
I'm genuinely surprised about the people that leave the 6th! Nice to know we are all in the same boat. I'm going in as tactical aircraft maintenance btw
Dont say anything stupid. When I went, there was a pretty chill dude there with me. He was fit, awesome....very Air Force material. However at the end of MEPS..you see the doc one more time for a final review. He said he had shortness of breath and poof he failed. Day wasted, dreams crushed.
whats your opinion on alcohol? Like not while on runs or working out or anything, but I usually go running five miles every morning, my mile and a half is down to just over 9 minuets, but at night I'll have a beer or two and a shot, but I've heard a few bad things against it, like it can be very detrimental against progress, but other people saying its complete bs
I would only say that you're gonna convert most of the carbs in your beer into fat overnight, so I wouldn't recommend drinking beer every night. As far as hard liquor, one shot shouldn't affect your running that much. Also, alcohol dehydrates you, so make sure when you drink alcohol to also drink plenty of water before running
I have running shoes that are half a size big, great for running for me, but since they aren't tight on my feet, they aren't great for random in place exercises, so I use my regular sized shoes. I assume I'm only allowed one pair of tennis shoes at BMT... Which should I use??
Great video. I have been stressing about running and I leave September 20th. My run time sucks but I have been working at it. Will it be a huge deal if I don't make it close to the 14 minutes the first PT test?
can you do a video on the fine line of video gaming/chatting and getting your business done to be successful? Not staying up too late etc. I know you seem to have this under control. It would help my lad who is just starting follow on school.
This is my struggle right now, especially with this continuous pain in my left calf after runs. My recruiter is like, "HURRY UP". I've been working on bodybuilding already for a year though, so nutrition I've got down pat. Bodybuilding.com has good articles to help understand all that stuff too.
One thing you should make a video on is that depending on the location, the base you get assigned to, that will make the difference between being able to really run or forcibly run indoors on a treadmill or if you're lucky have an indoor track. Aka MINOT. People failed left and right there because you are dealing with blizzards and -57 degree weather. No brainer and should be a disclaimer next time.
So I still have 3 months to prepare before basic and I am currently 155 lbs. do you think I can still cut off some weight? I wanna do good when I get to basic so I will pursue my running.
i like running on a trail because it removes the need to track laps, plus you 'cant' quit early because your forced to run or at least walk all the way back to your starting spot.
Runing in a indoor track now, im a future US Airman class 2021. Cant wait to graduate from high school so I can join the Air Force. Update ship out June 22 2021
I was the first in my area to DEP in with the air force. My life dream has been to serve our military and tbh my only real proble, is running and its because i stress out and think too much about running while i run so i start to lose my breathing pattern and just get messed up. your tips really help me and have been for the past 9 months literally the day before i went to MEPS. anyone needing more tips on cardio here is a link to help you fellas out www.military.com/military-fitness/general-fitness/how-do-you-get-in-better-cardio-shape
After I run for about a mile I get a terrible pain in my shins. Sometimes one or the other sometimes both. Am I doing something wrong with my form or is it some sort of injury?
its called shin splints.. it happens all the time to new runners. progress slowly with your running. it will get easier as you run more often.. just keep in mind too much frequency makes stress fracture a possibility.
technically the best way to drink water is to drink water when you're thirsty, if you drink too much water it could exacerbate problems. Unless you have some kinda medical condition i dont know about, but chances are you dont.
Hmm so I am pretty much doing everything right; except I'm a bit off on the nutrition part. I've been just eating oatmeal alone or bananas. My best time for 1.5 miles is 11:02 though.
The only time I notice myself put a lot of unnecessary wait on my joints is when i come up to a sharp turn and I'm sprinting. I probably accidentally every once in a while but that's about the only point I need to work on. 😁
Hey man so im stationed at good ole JBER and will be till 2020 thanks to my ipcot being accepted. My run is horrible and ive been working on it but it just doesnt seem to be working. Need help! By the way if you can guess what my afsc is "welcome to jber".
Wild Blue Yonder, I wanted to ask you if you think my idea would work. Basically, I wanted Enlist National Guard 4-6 years get my Bachelor Degree than Commission Officer Active Duty in The Air Force
That is totally possible! Something else to consider is USAFA. We have 67 priors in the class of 2020, or re-applicants/directs. You get your degree and commission :)
I've always had a difficult time when i run. I can't seem to breathe properly. About 2-3 minutes is all i can run and it takes me about 20 minutes to be able to breathe properly again.
So I'm in high school and I'm taking an AP class. I was wondering what score you have to have on the AP final exam to pass and not have to take the class again for the Air Force Academy
Im in DEP and my recruiter told me they give out backpacks now with stuff in them when you get there. he said its subject to availability though so if theyre out of some of the stuff youll have to buy it at the bx during the first trip (which isnt a biggie) but yeah. i leave sept 13th and have my BMT packing list if you want to see it. he said even if we do get some of these items when we get there its better to go with some of them already just in case you dont end up getting them
+Tim Munson pretty much! and try to get your reporting statement nailed into your head before you leave. our recruiters make us use it as soon as we step into the office
I'm one of those dudes that run with their head down while breathing straight in and out through my nose. Looks like I got some work to do. Thanks for the tips though.
Ive been running since I was 8 and all my coaches have said "Running is 90% mental and 10% physical" if you have this mindset you'll be great!
kiah43 hell no
kiah43 so your telling me i can run a 4:40 mile tommorow
My coaches say the same thing! haha
I know this is old but I agree. My form was terrible when I had low confidence. I would "shuffle" because when I was running I didn't want to make eye contact with people I passed so my head was always down. I also was afraid I looked and sounded weird when I tried to breathe properly so it would hinder my air intake.
My main struggle with running is learning not to just stop and walk when I get tired.
Nah I get you. Me too
"dropped his twinkie" oh man your humour makes the tips even better haha
Thank you. This was a much needed video. Running is my only fear because I completely suck at it. I leave in almost 3 months and I have a long way to go
FORM OVER SPEED!!! will never forget those words from my coach

Tips for a treadmill, always use an incline. Its more natural as well as using more of your muscles.
wow perfect timing im studying for the asvab and i hate the thought of runing
Can you make a video more about nutrition and have some examples of healthy meals to make throughout the day :)
I second that
right i need to eat better
Seriously? He's not a nutritionist... Lol
Here's some advice for those who don't know how to eat.. don't eat shit
Great video, advice and editing skills!
I actually just bumped into your channel. these are really helpful advices I did not knew about the stomping I tend to do that so many thanks
searched for a video about how to shower quickly, ended up here without even noticing, do not regret it a single bit!
very great video! i did not know such a channel exists! wow!
For the longest time I thought he was saying, "Wobbly Blue Yonder". Haha.
Very Informative, Great Video! keep it up!
The description of the video killed me lmao "don't sue me"
When I run, I inhale twice, whenever one of my feet touches the ground, and then do the same for exhaling... is that good for running or no?
Yes that's good. It's what an MTI told me to do as I was gasping my way through my 3rd lap on the first PT day. Helped me so much
I watched this about a year and a half ago, when it almost killed me to run 14 min 1.5 miles. Left for BMT 358 days ago and, thanks to this and other videos, arrived at Lackland able to run it in under 12. These tips really work.
Whenever I get dressed to run I always feel like a giant fucking tool.
id also like to add that running with others is great, especially if they are slightly better than you.
Did you do it?
I've read a study that says if you increase the incline of a treadmill 1% it offsets the lack of wind resistance. i find it easier running outside just because when I run on a treadmill I can feel myself holding back, even when I'm borderline sprinting. Haha I see the same runners all the time. Great tips, man. I'm actually joining USAF around January. I'm 30 and so excited!
Subscribed.

Thanks for tips and advice. I joined my highschool's MCJROTC program and this will defiantly help whenever we have PT.
Great video ❤️❤️❤️❤️I got off the treadmill months ago when I saw your video ❤️❤️👏👏
You knkw what else is great motivation? Watching videos of other people working out on RUclips. Seriously helps me a lot.
This video was really helpful:) thanks for all the advice I plan on going to the Air Force next year so I have a year to prepare but my run time is 14:30. Trying to make it to 12 mins
lots of good info packed in this. thanks!
I am joining the army and I have been running like crazy I Tried ur tips and they have been a big help thanks
Great video, I was actually about to look for something like this. Also, it might look a little silly, but you can put a sock on the mic just until you get a proper windshield/fuzzy thing.
Very informative video. Thank you!
I'm genuinely surprised about the people that leave the 6th! Nice to know we are all in the same boat. I'm going in as tactical aircraft maintenance btw

Thank you! Ima go run outside now (properly) 😄
Mad lad talking nutrition with the cocoa crispies in the background
hey bro great video! ive watched a lot of your content and its been very useful, im actually heading down to meps on monday!
Dont say anything stupid. When I went, there was a pretty chill dude there with me. He was fit, awesome....very Air Force material. However at the end of MEPS..you see the doc one more time for a final review. He said he had shortness of breath and poof he failed. Day wasted, dreams crushed.
Going to re enlist hopefully this year. Thanks for the info.
How do I stop stomping? I have really flat feet and I've just recently noticed I stomp when I run, and even walk!
Tip:don't over hydrate.
What happens if you do
@@wizardt115 you just upchuck water

Great video. I have been stressing about running and I leave September 20th. My run time sucks but I have been working at it. Will it be a huge deal if I don't make it close to the 14 minutes the first PT test?
why do you have "I love you" in the description box? 😂😂
can you do a video on the fine line of video gaming/chatting and getting your business done to be successful? Not staying up too late etc. I know you seem to have this under control. It would help my lad who is just starting follow on school.
So I'm currently in tech school and I'm going to be stationed at Elmendorf AFB, I was wondering how you like the base? what are its pros and cons?
Great video! No matter what I do I keep getting side stitches while running..any recommendations?

i like running on a trail because it removes the need to track laps,

You threw alot of shots in this vid😂
I’ve been running for 30 mins every other day .. my breathing is getting better
Is there an app that's keeps track of the miles you've ran that you can recommend? Or a technique , thanks
Lxrd Inkuh strava
Swear getting dressed is the biggest one of them all 😂😂
Very helpful and informative. Thank you! I'm trying to lose weight to join the Air Force.
i love your videos
in the near future i want to go to the military
When I join I hope I come across a great person like you.
Love you too
Runing in a indoor track now, im a future US Airman class 2021. Cant wait to graduate from high school so I can join the Air Force. Update ship out June 22 2021
Hey wild blue yonder Im shipping out soon and I SUUUUCK at running was bmt really hard for you or do u think they'll help me get in shape
In the same boat, worried about running at BMT and leave nov 7, when do you leave?
I needed this so much.

+Joe Hall do shin splints go away after you stop? If I stop and take a short break I'm able to run for a bit without pain.
Yes....... As your body adjusts to running itll go away
Do you live in your own place while still in the airforce? What your living situation?
"Breathing....woosah" XD
very informative
I love the desription of this video
leaving september 6th! AFBMT
technically the best way to drink water is to drink water when you're thirsty, if you drink too much water it could exacerbate problems. Unless you have some kinda medical condition i dont know about, but chances are you dont.
I appreciate you sir.. I, waiting to ship out waiting on my date
Hmm so I am pretty much doing everything right; except I'm a bit off on the nutrition part. I've been just eating oatmeal alone or bananas. My best time for 1.5 miles is 11:02 though.
Personally the treadmill got me so fit. I can max my pt test every time. I can go a whole minute under the max. I'm in the army
Whitechvpel Gaming yeah the treadmill has really helped me but I’ll definitely start running outside on top of it so I can test myself.
The only time I notice myself put a lot of unnecessary wait on my joints is when i come up to a sharp turn and I'm sprinting. I probably accidentally every once in a while but that's about the only point I need to work on. 😁

CubingBattles Thank you So much. Cause Air force is my dream.
WildBlueYonder If you had some free time do you think you could make a video about it, you make really informal videos.
Great video 💪🏽🇺🇸😁
I run wall to wall in my basement probably not a good read but IDK I always get stop by cops when I go outside and there aren't any tracks near me:/
I always run at around 2am and that is pretty much my worst fear when I'm out there.
Go outside, running in the basement is not good for you. Put on some motivational videos on RUclips & you’ll get it done trust me I do that
i carry around one of those gatorade reusable water bottles all day and i drink maybe about a gallon a day.
the air force has a program in basic training to help you with pt if you're (not up to par)
Go for a run first thing in the morning and find your target heart rate zone. That and dieting does wonders
lol I laughed at this !! Was funny
Some courses require you to get a minimum of 3 to pass the AP exam
So how long should I do this before I consider myself going to a recruit office.
You can go see a recruiter whenever you feel comfortable! They'll tell you when to call back if they're not ready to speak with you yet.
Is it true that at BMT you workout on the morning on an empty stomach? For how long?
Idali Beltre Acevedo Yes but you go eat directly after .approx. 45 mins in the morning 2-3 times a week
UnclassifiedDopeness Thank you
whats your 1.5 mile run time?
How would my work route for preparing for basic? It's about a mile
supposedly there is a new bmt packing list. if so can you make a video on that
Im in DEP and my recruiter told me they give out backpacks now with stuff in them when you get there. he said its subject to availability though so if theyre out of some of the stuff youll have to buy it at the bx during the first trip (which isnt a biggie) but yeah. i leave sept 13th and have my BMT packing list if you want to see it. he said even if we do get some of these items when we get there its better to go with some of them already just in case you dont end up getting them
+Keith so pretty much pack a normal bag with stuff on the packing list just to be safe?
+Tim Munson yea the basics like shower shoes, deodorant, soap.. you dont want to over pack since youll get a trip to the bx when you get there
+Keith ah so pretty much toiletries, civilians clothes and your folder that has your paperwork and that's it?
+Tim Munson pretty much! and try to get your reporting statement nailed into your head before you leave. our recruiters make us use it as soon as we step into the office
Bro.. try Simply Orange ornage juice. Delicious.. I used to be a Tropicana guy myself
I'm sure you know by now, but "the little fuzzy thing" is called a dead cat :D
How much time do girls get for running a mile and a half?
I'm one of those dudes that run with their head down while breathing straight in and out through my nose. Looks like I got some work to do. Thanks for the tips though.
