    I am super V.C.G. fan here! Just my input on charging times. If you used a power strip to power those chargers it might have played a role in charging times. Surge protector power strips will slow down the amp draw that power strip can process. The other thing to look at here is which charger was plugged in closest to the power source because it will become primary on amp draw. Maybe try two completely separate circuits with no power strips and same size/brand/length 10 gauge Extension cord. I’m only speculating, but maybe I’m not. Wonderful videos, awesome insight and amazing energy! Stay true!

    I have an old Black and Decker drill/driver. It has a puny 1.3ah battery. The charger is painfully slow, 4-6 hours for a 1.3ah battery slow. Over 6 years later the 1 battery it came with still works great and still has over 1ah of capacity.
    My point, if you don't need "Supercharging" stick to standard. Maybe invest in an additional battery instead. Your battery packs will last longer.

    I respect Milwaukee tools, especially the corded version. As a business owner, too many batteries and tools walk off the job site. For my business (and for homeowners) Ryobi is the way to go for cost effectiveness. I still have a corded 30 year old Sawzall, and a 25 year old 1/2" corded drill, as well as a 25 year old Bosch jig saw. Buy quality tools if you can keep it from walking away, buy cheap for ones that walk away, or just die early (4.5" grinders). There is a place for quality tools, and for Harbor Freight type tools.

    Battery’s have a certain shelf life. I stopped buying cordless tools. With the exception of a drill and I still use corded drill’s. Do you want to charge your batteries as low as possible to preserve the life of the battery. I think the Best strategy for going with battery tools is to have lots of batteries. Charge them at home at a slower rate after work for the next day.

    Well, an hour is good, but with the battery "Completely Drained" with no lights, it is safe to assume an extra 5-15 minutes to FULLY LOAD a drained battery. Usually we put a battery on to charge (Milwaukee's assumption most likely) with one light still showing, or has just gone out. Therefore, not quite as much time required to replace the used charge ! Yeah, got a LITTLE bit of something out the Electronics Engineering school 35 years ago !

    I have had an M18 HO 12.0 battery for a few months, but have only charged it once. I got it free from Northern Tool with my kit which included a sawzall, hammer drill, and a 1/4” hex impact driver. The 12.0 battery is too heavy for my taste on any of my hand held tools. It would be great for the table saws. The fan in the new charger is to cool the rectifier and voltage regulator circuit on the inside of the charger. If it helps keep the battery pack cool at all, that would be nice, but my guess is, as an electrical engineer, that would be an unintended consequence.

    I don't have any of the big batteries, and my M12/18 tools are more intermittent-use type tools (like a 3/8" or 1/2" impact), but my 40v lawn tools definitely have to cool before charging.
    My first cordless lawn tool was a Worx 18v trimmer. It said it'd charge the batteries in like 30 minutes, but... it took an hour for them to cool down. I had 3 batteries just for that trimmer, and by the time I drained battery 3, it would just be finishing the charge on battery 1. I had a little desk fan blowing over the charger to help cool it faster!

    Cordless tools are great for certain jobs but I rely on corded tools most of the time. Either way, you still have to get power to a site, be it generator or temp power pole to run your battery chargers and compressors. So there is little extra effort to run heavy duty cords as a branch line to different floors or rooms where you'll be working. Additionally, cordless tool just don't have the continuous torque of a corded tool. Sure they'll do fine for the first half dozen cuts, but then the power starts to draw off.

I've got several batteries and the charger charges a dead battery long before I can use one up. Cordless has come so far, they can be used in all but the most intense scenarios. Well, the expensive cordless tools can. Lol

    My rapid charger charges both at the same time. Love it!
    Problem is that I'm done with the m12 tools.
    The #$&@(+/ batteries don't stay in the tools that have vibration such as the multi tool and hackzall. I specifically bought the m12 version of the hackzall over the m18 because it has a shorter stroke. Works great for the tight spaces. Was fine for a while, then the battery lost its grip and vibrates out.
    Impact tools are ok, for now.
    Wish they would fix the problem because they worked great before this happened.

      @@gmburzynski68yes and it’s the best method to charge off of 12 volts because dc to dc appliances do not waste energy. Unless it’s an inverter charger or something. I doubt that because why invert an already 12 v battery. I’m gonna look the charger up now! Thanks

    Milwaukee Fuel is the best you can get for power, charge time and holding, and overall average length of service for your dollar. You'll generally burn out an Dewalt XR especially with the 60V flex Fuel battery long before the Milwaukee. Even if you don't invest in the FUEL grade Milwaukee stuff all their others are great too. As a person who has worked in industrial maintenance as a Millwright and now on tractor trailers you can't beat them. Their new 1" Impact with the 9 amp battery that hits at an incredible 1850 lbs of nut smashing torque only weighs 10 lbs! Compare that to lugging an air powered Ingersoll Rand 1" impact around and you know what I'm talking about. Busting off 40 nuts on a Kenworth and replacing them in a tire change out on a the rig will wear even the best inshape man down whose pushing over the hill age after 4 out of service jobs plus other work in a regular shift. That's taking off and putting on a total of 320 individual movements with the heavy IR impact. The new Milwaukee will bust nuts off a 40 year old front end loader rusted tight like it isn't shit. There is a video that proves it.

    So my only question in regards to the super charger is why did they bother with an m12 port on it and not just two m18 ports? Looking at the comparison between the rapid and super charger the charge time for m12 batteries doesn’t change.

    If you're saying that the max amperage of the supercharger is 13.5 and the rapid charger is 6 then having them both charging at the same time plugged into a 15 amp outlet is probably the reason for the supercharger taking longer. I bet if it were on its own dedicated outlet it would have no problem charging under 1 hour

      VCG Construction ... I like the charger regardless, but if you have an a M12 in it and you are charging a M18 it’s temporarily useless. I thought that they should have made proprietary for the M18 platform but that is only my opinion! Personally I like having a separate gang M12 Charger like the 48-59-1204....I hope that they make at least a dual Super Charger for the M18 platform or even an even larger one that can both charge and or be a 2000 watt power supply. Definitely not the last charger that Milwaukee will bring to market!

I bought the 12amp and 9amp batteries because at our cabin we only power up the generator when needed and it’s nice to just bring batteries from home and not have to charge them there. However I didn’t even know they made a rapid charger. Can I hurt my larger amp m18s by not using the super or rapid chargers?

    I just got two HO CP 3.0's. They are just as powerful as the standard 5.0 XC but lighter and shorter in height. A little longer and wider, but that is no big deal. I wanted a more compact battery but with the HO CP 3.0, I don't have to sacrifice anything but maybe a little run time vs the XC 5.0.

    • @VCGConstruction

      @@VCGConstruction Impact driver and drill driver mainly. My only other Milwaukee tool is the brushed Hackzall. I know from your video the 3.0 isn't a huge weight savings, but I like how it gives a lot of power for the size. For my needs, two XC 5.0's and the two HO CP 3.0's are enough. Once I grab a QuikLok trimmer, I'm sure the 9.0 HD will be enough for that. I'm just a DIY'er.

    I can’t be the only one wondering if the run time is lowered by using the super charger over the rapid or basic charger. That would be a test I would love to see.

    • @ryleynoyes
      @ryleynoyes 5 лет назад

      Run time should be the same, it just charges at a higher amperage or voltage. Battery longevity (how well the battery life is over multiple charge/discharge cycles) may be affected

    • @ericarmstrong2412
      @ericarmstrong2412 5 лет назад

      Well for example charging a car battery for say a trolling motor on a boat... if you do a fast charge it usually dies quicker than if you put it on a trickle charger. I’m not sure if the PCB or the type of 18650/21700 battery in the pack counters this or not. I believe it’s worth a test. I do agree on the longevity statement.

    • @getbetterben4312
      @getbetterben4312 4 года назад

      @@ericarmstrong2412 Car batteries are lead acid. When Milwaukee used to use NiMH batteries, they were affected by the charge rate and also if you let the battery go to zero percent - they used to cell battery conditioners to fix this. Lithium Ions aren't affected by charge rate or depletion like the other two.

  • @caps741
    @caps741 5 лет назад

    Charge times can change if you use a power strip as well. Not all power strips put out the same power to all ports. If the super charger isn't getting the full power it needs, charge times will increase.
