I'm pretty doubtful Eiyuden will make it out this year, since their backer updates don't suggest they're almost ready to release, but I'd be happy to be wrong. I really really want to play it. Hopefully at least the Suikoden remasters come out this year, but I've heard nothing new about that in awhile. And it's Konami, so....
Wrestlequest would have been everything to me as a child! It's going to be such a nostalgic trip. And I can't wait to get back into Suikoden I & II, these games are absolute masterpieces.
The good news is almost half of those games I'm excited for. And those games are: Star Ocean second story R. Yakuza Gaiden. Disgaea 7 And Granblue fantasy relink. Half is because been waiting for those games for a pretty long while and the other half is very happy to see this coming back. Again we're eating really really good for the second half of this year. And I'm already having plans to do multiplayer stuff with a friend in relink once any of us is done with the story. So can't wait for these games to drop!
Don’t forget the digital deluxe version of Mariemake is giving us an official translation of the original PS1 version too! It sounds like it’ll be selectable as an option from the main menu if you have the proper DLC installed. Very exciting to finally get it in english officially.
I would be, but, except for “Super Mario RPG”, which is getting a complete overhaul, I’ve already been playing all of those for years through emulation with upscaled graphics and turbo. I’m personally most excited for “Persona 3 Reload”. I just wish it was coming to Switch now instead of way down the road. (The Switch is huge in Japan. So I can’t imagine it never being ported). I guess I’ll just have to get it for the Steam Deck.
I think I played the Cuisineer demo from the Steam Next Fest for over 10 hours, really looking forward to it! The game loop is so well done, the dungeon boss battles are quite engaging with a good difficulty level. There is a good amount of powerups, skills, etc. The only thing I didn't like as much was that the serving at the restaurant gets a bit repetitive after a while, it's not so much decision making and more doing the same sequence of inputs over and over again. Not in the video, but since you mentioned Baten Kaitos - there is a RPG deck building game that recently released called "Take Me To The Dungeon". It's NSFW with an SFW all ages version coming later this year, and the card mechanics are really engaging and well designed, as well as the difficulty level of the game. Really recommend the gameplay of it for fans of Slay the Spire and other (roguelite) deck builders/card games.
I can't wait for Relink, it looks soooo gooooood. Apparently in August they plan to put out more info, hopefully an actual date and not just a release window. As for Baten Kaitos, I'm not buying it without English voices. I still have my copies and a gamecube so I can use that if I really want to play again.
I stopped playing service based games and focusing on the JRPGs I have attained over the past several years. I feel better and I am far happier with the content.
Loving all these list now while I agree with looking forward to this game I really think a maybe should've been added in the title regarding a few of these games 1 granblue fantasy relink is a massive maybe for this year regarding its history 2 suikoden has been dead silent since tgs last year and was never mentioned again 3 eiyuden chronicles now according to there Kickstarter update the point there at in development makes it seem incredibly unlikely its releasing this year. we can always be hopeful though 😌 😉
Eiuden Chronicles and Sea of Stars are the two I am waiting for, then maayyybe try Granblue Fantasy and Star Ocean. BTW the amount of games made for weabos is astonish... 99% of cast being girls with the genshin impact style automatically makes me reject them as Fire Emblem Engage did (gladly), these days most of the indie studios are the ones getting good games done, and after playing Chained Echoes even more reason to put my money (and time) on those devs.
I've been looking forward to Granblue Fantasy for awhile, but is it really coming out this year? Hasn't it been rumored to be coming out for the past several years? I've been looking forward to that as well as eiyuden chronicles for awhile, but I'll believe they're coming out this year when there's an actual release date. The year is already over halfway done. You'd think they'd have official release dates by now.
Seriously. How many collectors editions could even be preordered? 3? I kinda want to play half the list, but I'm to lazy to write them, and it's still way to hot inside.
You neglected to mention that Silent Hope is set in the same universe as Rune Factory. Speaking of, I'm definitely interested in RF3S (and DQM, actually), they release a few days before Starfield. They aren't winning that fight. I'm also interested in Suikoden and Euyuden.
I'm excited for Silent Hope, Rune Factory 3 Special, Persona 5 Tactica, the Atelier Marie remake, and Dragon Quest Monsters! My heart is full, but my wallet is empty lol
Funny enough, most of the games that interest me this year aren't JRPG's. I'll eventually get Like a Dragon Gaiden when I'm all caught up on the games (still got LAD7, Judgement and Lost Judgement to play), and I would be excited for the Baten Kaitos remasters and Mario RPG remake if I didn't already own the originals. Currently, the game I'm most looking forward to on this list is Eternights, having really enjoyed the demo. I'm hoping the combat system won't be too simplistic in the long-run, as it'd run the risk of devolving into a mindless button-masher that becomes reliant on context-sensitivity over manual skill-based play (e.g. QTE's). But the game starts off strong, with a mix of mystery, comedy, and thrilling suspense right from the get-go. Definitely keeping an eye on it.
I wonder if FAITH SAMURAI Remnant is a JRPG or is it a hybrid visual novel? I was planning to get this three games on September 28, games are Faith:Samurai/Remnant, Eternights and Dragon Quests Adventures of Dai. September is really stacked for me. I hope I can get them all on that same month lol.
I don't understand why so many of these remasters and remakes smooth out the environments, but leave the characters looking pixelated as hell. It's bizarre (and this is coming from someone who started gaming on a Commodore 64, and then an NES). It always makes me hope that someone will mod them, so the characters are also remastered.
@@martinde-serres8724 I'm not concerned about a 3.5 year dev cycle on an indy JRPG. Nor is this a Sports Story situation where there was no demo and a complete lack of transparency from the dev and the game turned into a disaster.
I don’t have Time to play these games though 😅 maybe next year I guess
Or in your next life.
Love your video's Alex! It's nice to see your face since we mostly just hear your voice. Thanks for keeping me up to date with all the jrpg news.

I was suspicious of Hundred Heroes’ 2023 release myself, but I think it’s fair to still mention it until they announce anything

Nothing better than new JRGPs.
Grandblue Fantasy Relink, Werstlequest, Crymachina, The Legend of Nayuta, and Infinity Strash are on my list.
Man, this year has just been packed! We're gonna need to add an extra month to it just to get caught up xD
Have to focus on the backlog with Trails, Ys and about 40 other games still to play. Sea of Stars and Boundless Trails are pre orders however.
Don’t forget the digital deluxe version of Mariemake is giving us an official translation of the original PS1 version too!
It sounds like it’ll be selectable as an option from the main menu if you have the proper DLC installed. Very exciting to finally get it in english officially.
Excited for suikoden remaster, sea of stars, star ocean 2, super mario rpg, eiyuden chronicle and new yakuza

Thanks, Alex & Co. Is WrestleQuest getting a physical?
I'm so hyped for granblue fantasy relink
23 Jrpgs you WILL BE PLAYING in 2023 uploaded by the channel BACKLOG gaming? Sounds like a threat :D
Just spending all my money and playing This yrs game for the next three yrs. Greatest RPG yr ever
TotK is going to take up the rest of my time this year
My backlog just keeps expanding 😅
"Grantblu Fantasy is real!" That made me bust out laughing. That game has been more delayed than a Final Fantasy game.
There's a chance it might slip still! Eiyuden Chronicle did!
A couple more ARPG's coming out this year are: Fate/Samurai Remnant and Sword Art Online: Last Recollection.
What game is shown in the thumbnail??

Sadly "Like A Dragon: Gaiden The Man Who Erased His Name" is digital-only and I shall never purchase digital games.
Man my backlog is enormous already, thanks for the video all the same. You are living up to uour channels name 😂.
surely play atelier , super mario , SUIkoden and star ocean R for sure
You neglected to mention that Silent Hope is set in the same universe as Rune Factory.

I'm also interested in Suikoden and Euyuden.
I'm reading the press releases right now for it and there is absolutely zero mention of the game being set in the same universe as Rune Factory.
My wallet doesn't like me right now..😂😂
I'm excited for Silent Hope, Rune Factory 3 Special, Persona 5 Tactica, the Atelier Marie remake, and Dragon Quest Monsters! My heart is full, but my wallet is empty lol
I'll take one of everything. Thank you.
Your hair is looking great Alex! Finally got around to playing atelier sophie and now I cant wait for the Marie remake. So many RPGs 😅

So granblue fantasy is only fights hein
Most likely get like a gaiden ,disgea 7 , nayuta , eiyuden , dq spin-offs and persona enternights
Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia is releasing sometime this year and it looks so darn good for any classic smt fans
The star ocean game looks really good. But do need to have played any others as I have no experience in any of the star ocean games
You don’t need to play the other games. Also star ocean 2 is the only really good game in the series.
@@dustingonzalez8080 Don't let the Star Ocean fans find you.

I was thinking the same thing, the enviroments in Second Story R look amazing and heavily contrast with the pixelated sprites.
Trails Into Reverie, WrestleQuest, and Sea of Stars back to back.
My favourite series, my favourite concept, and a soon-to-be Québécois classic.
@@martinde-serres8724 I'm not concerned about a 3.5 year dev cycle on an indy JRPG.

what’s up bud
just started the video….let’s go 👍
This year was absolutely crazy, so many good games
you broke your ff16 statue........
Correction: Destroyed
I expect 100 Heros sometime in 2024
So many rreleases. Won't buy those game until i'll be able to play them one by one.
Trails reverie will take me 2 months to beat 😅
was the thumbnail namami of suikoden II?
It is not
Can't wait for Sea of Stars!
My wallet >_
These lists help me keep on top of the plethora of JRPG’s that we are going to be blessed with. Keep up the good work my dude. 🫡
