    For $99 it gives a taste of mini pc fun but I think people would be better served sourcing a $149 N100

    For that price, it's worth getting JUST to have something better than those Pandora's boxes and super console x android consoles. Don't know why PS1 was scratchy sounding but hey, it's worth the $100

    I don't think mini PCs like that are really designed for games...for starters, it's fanless and games will generate heat and heat will degrade the machine's life span in time (with no fan).
    I bought one because I want to use it as a testing virtual host server only.
    I'm hoping as a server, it will perform well given how it can handle some light weight games.

    Unfortunately, there is no cooling on this mini PC. I bought it solely for playing old games from the 2000s. After 5 minutes of playing Unreal Tournament 2004, it starts throttling, and the game becomes choppy. When I shut down the game and check the CPU temperature, it is almost 80 degrees Celsius. So yes, it's not a good PC for playing even 20 year old games. Too bad, because otherwise it would fit my needs just fine.

    Can I get a mini PC that can function as a PC but also be a retro gaming emulator?.. like I flip a switch and I can use it as a computer. Flip it again and I can use it as the gaming console? Is that possible?

  • @TalGivoly

    Thanks. I got this mini PC and it certainly performs very nicely compared to its very modest price. However, I wanted to upgrade it and I purchased an M.2 MVNE 512GB storage, and it isn't recognized by it at all. Any idea why? how to fix it? how to find some resources on troubleshooting this? Tx!

    • @VintageSG
      @VintageSG Месяц назад +1

      It requires an NGFF SATA not NVME.
      All is not lost though. An external NVME -> USB3.0 case is only a few coins and is faster than the onboard eMMC and M.2 SATA. You can boot from USB too, so install Batocera perhaps?

    • @TalGivoly
      @TalGivoly Месяц назад

      @@VintageSG Thanks. I purchased both, the MVNE didn't work (and is now an external USB3 SSD in a case) - and the M2 SATA works very nice as an internal extension. Moved all major storage off the eMMC to the SSD and it performs even better.

    I just bought a Beelink Series 5 Max (Ryzen 7 5800H, Radeon RX 8 GPU). Hope its not overkill. Was looking at cheaper but didnt feel cheaper models would have adequate performance. I want to go up to PS1 and DOS (Blood, DN3D, Shadow Warrior)

    • @joeking-fw2wb
      @joeking-fw2wb 4 месяца назад +1

      I was tempted to get the same beelink model as you but opted to go for a dell micro pc. 9th gen i5 for less than 1/2 the price. Performance is pretty good with batocera. What you have is overkill for just Ps1 and dos.
