His parents gave him a violin instead of a guitar when he wanted to become a rockstar, i guess he didn`t let that get him down

Mark should does this live more often. One of the best songs ever! His energy when he plays this song is amazing & it'll sure drive the kids nuts if he does it at a school. Rock on! \m/

is it just me or thinner strings allow a better mass/length relation to get a more definite sound with a purer tone than a guitar trying to get the same note with thicker strings?

Yes in reply to Charlie Tian (great name by the way) there are a few metal violinists about .There's an amazing guy on youtube called Michael Shulman. He is a true shred violinist. Most of his best material on youtube has gone private now and only a select few can view it, but there is still some great stuff still there to watch.Have a look at Michael Shulman's "live mirage solo" or Michael Shulman's "Mirage sound check" also Billie Jean and Enjoy the Silence.I must point out that mark wood is not actually playing a violin here.It is quite different from a violin. It is basically a four stringed guitar that is shaped like a violin.A violin does not have frets.

+1574391 Mark Wood is absolutely playing a violin. It is a 7-string fretted Viper electric violin. Most definitely NOT a guitar!

I thought this was pretty awesome, But I have to admit, fretted violin? Kinda makes this a guitar on his should with a bow right?

I actually like his version ..
.Check out " CHRIS ROSS THE ELECTRIC CELLIST " playing KASHMIR with ESCALA ,SECRETS by One republicand The Star Spangled Banner I would rather have seen the whole band because " it is more fun to play in a band than with yourself

I find most great musicians make weird facially expressions (Chris Thile is the best example). I tend to think of it as the eccentricity that usually accompanies genius.

those are basically just guitars, though. they're fretted and they have six strings.
