Tomllling I'm a professional violinist, Ive been playing for over two decades and something I've noticed is that usually the better someone is the more eccentric they are. This is some of the best playing I've seen, so who cares if he's completely nuts! He's amazing at what he does!

People who can't relate to pure genius often cop out by calling it 'insane'...no, it isn't insane, it is just being able to express intense feelings on a very high level. On Independence Day, this is a great performance, you can hear all the problems & frustrations this nation has had to deal with from the very start! Bravo!

At 0:12 & 0:16+0:17, you can see his distorter in the far right, amp+distort, where you can adjust how the pitch 'flow's from the violin, giving the auditory 'illusion' of an electric guitar.

@justbolla It sounds like he is running it through a guitar pedal board. I hear echo, reverb, distortion, flanger at 1:54, phaser after that... They don't show his feet so I can't tell if he is hitting buttons, maybe his sound man does it for him.

@2007wesman He's obviously fairly proficient on his instrument, I was just pointing out that shredding it out and making cool noises with distortion isn't as difficult as it appears. Especially in comparison to true classical tecnique, which I'm sure you can understand.

Very very cool. I kinda wish he had a black carbon fiber bow to go with his look. And it's unfortunate that his amp or the camera can't pick up all of his notes starting at 0:40. He's hitting 'em, just the sounds not working with the instrument. Really cool looking electric violin, too.
