    If you first come across this guy through short and wonder whether he's legit, he is the best pound for pound bench presser in Spain. He's 44years old, maybe older. Lifetime natty, just recently benched his max (240kg/540lbs). You better listen to what he has to say.

    Justo he empezado con el metodo Bilbo. Los ultimos años los empujes (banca y militar) solo me dan molestias/lesiones trabajarlos pesado. Gracias Jesus por compartir tu metodo!

      @@dn3772 For real. Pecs were always my worst muscle, im pull dominant since i started lift... Now i grow a lot my pecs and im push dominant and people tell me if im not natty for thequick progress lol

    Looking forward to trying this. This is very different from any programming I have done so far, but I usually would throw in a number of high repetition sets even when I did strength training in the 4-12 rep range. I felt it really affected my training positively.

    How many sets should you perform for bench press using this method?

      First set, the bilbo series , with high repetitions and progression of weights in each workout.
      Followed by two or three series between 8 and 12 repetitions with the weight you need to stay in that rep range.
      The number of total chest training sets would be between 7 and 9.

    Hi there!
    I have been trying out your method and have been liking it alot.
    My idea this cycle (the second one) is to move on to the strenght adaptation. This is the only part i quite dont understand. Lets say i do my first set for 13 reps on 115kg. How do i continue after that first set for the rest of the workout?

      In forced adaptation, after that 115x13 series, we continue doing sets of 8-10 reps, leaving 1-2 reps in the tank, and we lower the total training volume by removing sets from all exercises. For example, if we were doing 4 sets of bench press, 2 sets of dips, 2 sets of incline press, and 2 sets of cable crossovers, we could switch to 3 sets of bench press, 1 set of dips, 1 set of incline press, and 1 set of crossovers.     Obviously you know what you’re doing so quick q- do you think this program could be made slightly better if you got rid of the really high (20+) rep ranges? Like I keep hearing 5-30 is the rep range we want for hypertrophy but it would probably be best for most work to be in 5-12 reps (at least from most reputable sources online). Thanks

      This is what a I call “Bilbo set” , it is my effective set. And it is one of the clues of my Bilbo method .
      The Bilbo set: between 15 and 50 repetitions at maximum speed, leaving between one and three repetitions in reserve and starting with a load close to 50% of the weight of the maximum repetition.
      After the Bilbo series I continue with a workout of 5 to 10 total sets per muscle, in a range of 8 to 12 repetitions.

    Correct me if I'm wrong. You start with 50% of your one rep max right? How many reps and sets do you do per workout for your method?

      Aprox 50% Max speed

    Dors the rest of the set of bench press 3x8-12 increases its weight the following days of training? Or only the bilbo set increases?

      In those sets, we're aiming for muscle work. Going to failure can mess up your form and strain your muscles. It's better to stop one rep before failure. Slow down on the last few reps to feel the burn from muscle congestion rather than pushing for maximum weight.
