    I am terrible at remembering where authors are from so I went through some lists of Canadian literature. Mostly I learned that I need to read more Canadian literature! I guess I'm in the right place 😅

    Translator Alison Strayer is Canadian (from Saskatchewan). There is another Canadian book that showed up on the NYT Readers Choice list: Life of Pi by Yann Martel.

    • @BookwormAdventureGirl

      Ohhh... so it's the translator that's Canadian. That's cool. Always love when Canadian books break into the book lists. 😊💙

    This is going to be so hard to choose just 10. I googled 'Annie Ernaux and Canadian' and I can't even find a connection. She's definitely just French. And Rachel Cusk is Canadian almost by technicality, she was born here to British parents and then moved to LA as a young child before moving permanently back to Britain by age 7. So it's sad to see only Emily St John Mandel and Alice Munroe represented.

    • @lindysmagpiereads
      @lindysmagpiereads 4 месяца назад +2

      Ernaux’s translator, Alison Strayer, is Canadian, but it’s a stretch to count her and Rachel Cusk among the Canadian authors.

    How many books does Book Worm Adventure Girl need to add to her library before the Canadian government sends a representative from the department of culture, plants a maple leaf flag and says,
    “ this library belongs to Canada!”
    It would be said in French too of course.
