This is a great idea! I’ll try to come up with 10 books. I often read older books, but I read some more recent ones too… I already have four or five titles in mind…
I am terrible at remembering where authors are from so I went through some lists of Canadian literature. Mostly I learned that I need to read more Canadian literature! I guess I'm in the right place 😅
Fun idea! Go CanLit! I am super busy on a wonderful progessive female candidate’s campaign, so I’ll just be here to watch the results. And discover new to me authors and books!
Translator Alison Strayer is Canadian (from Saskatchewan). There is another Canadian book that showed up on the NYT Readers Choice list: Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
Oh my! It was so difficult to pick just 10 books. I had so many on my list. I'm still second-guessing my answers. Thank you for putting a spotlight on Canadian literature. I have read many of your recommendations!
Didn't realise the authors' top tens were published too - must look at those. Great project Jolene! Will have to think about the Can lit I have read. Station Eleven is a wonderful book, so that would be on there for me!
This is going to be so hard to choose just 10. I googled 'Annie Ernaux and Canadian' and I can't even find a connection. She's definitely just French. And Rachel Cusk is Canadian almost by technicality, she was born here to British parents and then moved to LA as a young child before moving permanently back to Britain by age 7. So it's sad to see only Emily St John Mandel and Alice Munroe represented.
How many books does Book Worm Adventure Girl need to add to her library before the Canadian government sends a representative from the department of culture, plants a maple leaf flag and says, “ this library belongs to Canada!” It would be said in French too of course.
FYI Goodreads did a Reader's Choice Best Books of the 21st Century (99 books) I don't know if there are Canadian authors but it does have books different from the two NYT lists
Fun project Jolene! I’ll definitely submit my list. Question, is this just fiction? I think the NYT list was so I want to confirm this list will be too. 🤗
Any book... fiction, nonfiction, memoir, graphic novels, as long as it's Canadian and as long as it was published in the 21st Century. So happy that you are participating. 😊💙
Awesome idea...I submitted my list and can't wait to see the results! To add to your list of Canadian booktubers, I gotta shout out @infinitetext from Toronto who was the first booktuber I discovered and who introduced me to this on-line bookish world!
Thanks for your list and for the BookTuber recommendation. I will check the channel out. The list will be out soon. It’s been fun to watch it change and grow. 😊💙
Such a fantastic idea! Can’t wait to see the final list, as well as everyone’s top 10.
Thanks Tara. I'm excited about it too. 😊💙
How interesting! Reading A Novel Bookstore makes this very relevant, ha!
A Novel Bookstore sounds interesting. 😊💙
This is a great idea and I look forward to the list - I want to read more CanLit.
Wonderful! There will be a lot to choose from. 😊💙

Definitely in the right place and hopefully compiling this list will inspire people to check some Canadian Literature out. 😊💙
Great video! Great idea. Thank you for including me.😅
Thanks. Hope you will share your top books. 😊💙
Jolene, I love this idea! ❤ woot woot.
Thanks Shelly. It's coming together quite nicely. The list keeps growing.

Great to have you here. Discovering new books and authors is all part of the fun!😊💙
Thank you for shouting out CanBooktubers. This is so exciting.
My pleasure. I'm excited too! 😊💙
I love this. I admittedly don't always pay attention to CanLit, and often have no idea where authors I'm reading are from, so this list is exciting!
Wonderful! I think this is true for a lot of readers. 😊💙
Translator Alison Strayer is Canadian (from Saskatchewan). There is another Canadian book that showed up on the NYT Readers Choice list: Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
Ohhh... so it's the translator that's Canadian. That's cool. Always love when Canadian books break into the book lists. 😊💙
@@BookwormAdventureGirl Yann Martel is Canadian, so are his parents, one of which is the translator.
@@Mlle_Bleue Yes, Yann Martel is Canadian. I have enjoyed several of his books.
Oh my! It was so difficult to pick just 10 books. I had so many on my list. I'm still second-guessing my answers. Thank you for putting a spotlight on Canadian literature. I have read many of your recommendations!
Choosing is always hard. The list has so many excellent books. Stay tuned for the reveal and thanks for participating. 😊💙
Thanks for tagging me in this! I am excited to recreate :)
Always happy to promote Canadian Books and BookTubers. 😊💙
Didn't realise the authors' top tens were published too - must look at those. Great project Jolene! Will have to think about the Can lit I have read. Station Eleven is a wonderful book, so that would be on there for me!
Yes. Definitely check out the author lists. Station Eleven is among the favourites. Let us know if there are any others you would like to vote for. 😊💙
This is a neat idea. The only two books I've read that I know were Canadian were both nonfiction. One was good and the other was nothing special.
Thanks. Both fiction and nonfiction work if you want to vote for the good one. 😊💙
This is so fun! I just submitted my list! ✨📚
Thanks Dee. Received your submission. Thanks for you choices! 😊💙
Fun project! 👍
It's been fun seeing the list change and grow. I hope you will contribute, Jen. 😊💙
@@BookwormAdventureGirl Absolutely! :)
What an exciting project! I'll be participating. Noopiming! ;)
Noopiming is such a unique book. 😊💙
This is such a fun project!
It’s been a lot of fun. A lot of books have been submitted. 😊💙
Oh I love this but soooo hard to choose! I submitted my list. 🥰
Yayyy. Thanks for participating. It is hard to come up with the top ten. There’s so many good books. 😊💙
I LOVE this idea, however I am a little afraid I'm going to get myself in to a lot of trouble with all the book votes....
Don’t be afraid…. There are so many books to choose from. 😊💙

Ernaux’s translator, Alison Strayer, is Canadian, but it’s a stretch to count her and Rachel Cusk among the Canadian authors.
Yes, sometimes it is a stretch when "Canadian" writers are included. So excited you are participating in this. 😊💙
I had picking things as "best" but I did add ten Canadian books I would recommend to the form.
Thank you so much for contributing. 😊💙
Filled your form! Wonder how many French-language proposals you'll have overall. I hope I won't be the only one proposing some.
Thanks for participating. We have had several French books put forward. You are not alone.

LOL!! I think there's still a way to go but I might be in the running. 😊💙
