Tried vinegar in my '01 4Runner, it did okay but CLR worked way better. Also I think flushing it out both directions helped also. But yeah this weekend was a bad weekend to figure out my heat sucks lol.

This video gives me some ideas how to fix my low heat problem on my ‘12 Chrysler 200 Touring convertible. Those model years 2011-2014 have the problem of no heat on the passenger side of the interior. I recently did a tune up on my Pentastar engine and was able to identify my heater hoses and was able to tell normal direction of engine coolant flow. I’m going to try the vinegar idea with a couple of buckets and a circulating pump with lower pressure and reverse flowing through the core to see if that is the fix for my car.

It helped a little but took 2-3 more tries not shown on camera

Exactly! We had to go down the checklist of what it wasn’t before deciding on flushing it.

Heat only comes out of passenger side on 2012 Jeep Liberty. Already watched one that used CLR. I think using vinegar is a beetter solution which I will try as soon as it warms up outside.

Vinegar isn’t as caustic, which may make it less effective depending on the amount of calcification in the core.

Exact same temp here today...and same dilemma with my 07 Tacoma...
Same issue with low flow at low RPM.

Yup. But I’m surprised that the Toyota wasn’t doing well. Normally, they’re the best when it comes to heating/cooling.

14 degrees Celsius is a breeze!
I mean, who knew we ordered a snow party at this cozy temperature? Snowflakes just can't resist a good time! 😄❄

The engine makes a lot more heat on the freeway.

Coolant temp stays very consistent whether on the freeway or around town. The difference is the speed of flow that the water pump makes at higher rpm.

Last weekend we dipped down to -40C/-40F for a few days in Alberta. The battery in the '18 Powerwagon got so weak it froze. And I knew better to keep the charge up. But when it's that cold, a middle aged guy tries to limit his time outside. -20c/-4F at 5:30 AM. Time to take my pup to the dog park to play with her little group of friends ang burn off energy. I'll have to do some research. Back in the 90's we used to mix baking soda with something else to flush out the cooling systems on the Detroit Diesel engines for service rig equipment.

My experience with Mopars is that they always had terrible heaters in cold weather new or old it didn't matter. I'm not sure what year they fixed that problem.

Many did during this period as they used all similar sized cores.

I’ve never really had that issue before. Both my 04 2.4L wrangler and my 01 4.0L wrangler made awesome heat. And that was only cruising around town and even at idle. Both jeeps were soft tops too. My current 02 wrangler 4.0 is barely making warm air and I do see the coolant temp drop when I turn the blower on full blast.

Works great in my Bunn Coffee maker.
