Mopar Connection's oldest project car "Brazen" - our 1969 Dodge Charger R/T is starting to show its age - even after 20 years when much of the rotted metalwork was first done. The rear window gutter has a nasty habit of collecting a lot of water with nowhere to drain. Even parked in our home garage, it's started to rot out. Thankfully, we caught it early and will show you a quick repair. This e...

Those "430" hp L-88 427 Chevys actually made 570-580hp with headers. LS-7 454 made 600hp in stock trim with headers. Nothing could run with them back in the late 60s early 70s.
Clearly you haven’t been in a Hellcat or Redeye!
A good stock Hemi with a sharp tune is in the 480-490hp range. Around 500tq.
A lot of these came out of the factory undertuned!
Fantastic video. Love it, well done
Glad you liked it!
We bought a 67 Coronet for a case of beer and a bottle of rum I bought a tubular cross member with all the parts and an engine plate one day we will get to it our 71 Cuda drag car is getting the 440 in my Sons 71 Satellite till the body work on it the Cuda will get a 392 Hemi when the Satellite is done decided to put a smallblock in our Duster have all the parts and the Hooker stainless fenderwall Headers will look so good on the Cuda with a tunnel ram minus hood and fiberglass front clip and doors if I had room for the 70 Bee I'd love to take it if we didn't have 2 mud racers also
That sounds like a fun bunch of projects!
The worst color is Sassy Grass or Limelight. Along with all non Top Banana yellows.
Oh c’mon! Limelight is cool! 🤢
@@moparconnection To you, but not to me.
I have the same tow rig. I’m on my second one. Short box Reg Cab 5.7
That’s a great truck!
727 is probably one of the easiest transmission is rebuild
Yessir it is!
You didn't order that burger wrong the juice is in the burger patty and if it's not then your at McDonald's
Yeah it was pretty dry
Thanks for the video I love 70 super bees I'm a geezer now so I can't build cars anymore back in 1974 my best friend bought a 70 Dodge Super Bee it was triple black it was a 4:40 it was a pistol grip for Speed it has your grip had front disc brakes manual carpet delete radio delete heater delete who ordered this car it was $1,600 on a used car lot it had a cracked windshield that's all that was wrong with it in the trunk was a center section with 355 the center section that was in the car had 391s the factory wheels and tires were also came with the car we had a blast this was a cool ride headers cam better intake better carb we got this car to running a high 11s at the quarter mile with slicks what a fun car it still exists in New Berlin Wisconsin the guy who owns it now restarted about 20 years ago it's all back to stock what oddball have a great day I'll keep watching
Oh man, what a sweet car! Thanks for watching!
The front end of the 70 Bee is very polarizing. I know they were looking to mimic a bee...but it was a bridge too far. Problem is the high cost of doing this magnitude of work far exceeds the value of a done to stock Bee. A restomod is probably the only hope. Good luck. Regarding the hood....a friend had a perfect bulge hood for sale 30 years ago for $ 50....no takers so it was scrapped since it took up space.
Yikes! I hate to hear that about the hood!
@@moparconnection Shame...but literally no one would pay $ 50 ! I think it was because none of the parts resellers thought they could resell it and didn't want to lug it around.
Looks mint compared to the one I'm saving! 😂
Oh man, best of luck!
There may only be a handful of people who LOVE the 1970 Super Bee more than I do! However, on this particular ‘project’ it wouldn’t make ‘dollar-sense’ to continue. I’m subscribed and Love Mopar Connection! Carry On, Kevin!
Thanks for following us!
@ Of course!
70 cornet and super bee share the same sheet metal.
Yes they do.
Price and location ? I have a lot of brand new parts just waiting for one of these . Email address ?
That’s why I said three times to email me if you’re interested and posted it in the video.

I don’t want it. It needs a new home
The question should be, who doesn't want to save a 70 super bee ? I built a model of that car back in the 1990s. Never was and never will be able to afford one.
Yeah they’re sky high nowadays
Really sir, let me do it.

Jeffrey, it’s a LOT of work. I don’t think you’d be very happy to see me show up at your door with it.
@ some Reason I can’t send email
I love it 😍
It needs some love!
Contact Chris Birdsong!!!!!
Ha! Great suggestion but Junkerup is very, very busy with his own project cars (as well as paying customers).
No billet drum and no bolt in sprag upgrade? You do realize its not a matter of if but only when you are going to have a transmission explosion. When that sprag lets go usually from a burnout in first gear or any shock load in first gear that drum is going to run away and explode. The bits of the drum will exit the case, come through the floor pan, Sever your foot, and continue out the door! A billet drum is not optional on a 727!
That’s all heavy duty stuff. This is going in our ‘70 Fury convertible
I’ve seen cars in worse shape than zombie, that have been rebuilt. Definitely worth saving 👍🏻
Same here!
If you don't find a buyer, do you think a local type technical school could do something with it? It seems like they could get all kinds of body and drivetrain experience.
It’s a nice idea.
I would love to have it 😢😢😢
Got anything to horse trade?
@moparconnection nothing I'm working on a 1967 plymouth barracuda
Everyone complains about the small intake ports of the mopar big block. While they are small compared to the Hemi,BBChevy, and the phord 460, they were actually excellent on the streets back in the day. Thats because their small size[on a 440] made for high mixture velocity and great torque down low with the rear gearing of most street cars then. They didnt have overdrive transmissions with high numerical rear gears or 8 speeds like todays musclecars; they mostly had like 3.23 or 3.55 [medium gear ratios] which created a pig with giant sized intake ports, eapecially moving 3600-4000 ibs from a standing start. They worked great for the intended purpose.
Great points! You’re 100% right.
I would have bought it, but Lyin' Biden drained my bank account with his anti-American policies!
Then we’re in the same boat
Cool Car, B-Body's just look so awesome with the Big Tire mod...Let's hope it finds a good home !
They do, don't they? I wanted to run the Demon 17” 5-spoke wheels but the pattern is slightly off.
What about the Sprag did you replace it??
Yes, but with a stock replacement. Again, we weren't looking to put more than 450HP to this transmission.
@moparconnection I have a 68 AMC AMX 343 engine it's modified around 500hp and 4.10 gears. Building a AMC 727 torque command automatic transmission. I tried to use the stock Borgwarner M11 automatic transmission. I punched off the line and destroyed the transmission. I can't even get the torque converter to come out of the transmission. Lol
So much great information in just general AT to MT trans swap. Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
I have a set of Edelbrock Performer heads , they have been on 4 different engines worked by Dan Smith in St.Louis I have a Racer Brown flat tappet cam - STX22 , I'm making about 750 HP There is no way I would run a chi-com stealth head
The comment section is always split. Edelbrocks are poured, cast and machined in the US (still in California, believe it or not!). The 440 Source heads are cast in China but machined in the US. And that's why they're so much cheaper. People are free to vote with their wallets.
I owned a 440 6 pack cuda with only headers and a 4:10 Dana - 4 speed . Car was consistently 11.8 to 12.0 in the 1/4. Not too many Hemis were tuned properly to beat it "
That's a heck of a combo. Must've been a helluva ride!
WHP?????

Hit "pause" on the video. The entire chart is visible.
I have used POR15 extensively on rusty projects. I always wear gloves and use small foam brushes. It only seems to like to stick to rust, your skin, and garage floors. It doesn't stick well to clean steel. Yes, several days for it to fully cure. But the rust won't come back.
That stuff can be a nightmare! And great suggestion about the foam brushes! I'll have to use that.
🌟 A thought … If the Mancini MRE220 main seal retainer is cut deeper to accommodate the size of the larger FelPro 2947 Viton seal (the standard Chrysler black seal leaks as per your video) - why was it necessary to cut it deeper if the larger Viton seal still fits (and doesn’t leak) between the crank and the block? Perhaps there is an argument for using 1/2 a standard seal and 1/2 a Viton seal when using the Mancini MRE220?
I think you misunderstood. We didn't cut anything deeper to accommodate anything. The standard black seal sucks, and sits too deep in the billet rear main block. The thicker Fel-Pro fills up the channel in the billet rear main block, and is typically sold together from Mancini. I had an extra that I had picked up somewhere and foolishly used the black Viton seal with it. That's why it leaked. I ordered the thicker Fel-Pro and solved the issue.
@ Perhaps I have misunderstood what you were saying in your video. I thought the gist of your message was that Mancini makes two seal retainers: MRE220 that uses the FelPro 2947 style Vitoria Seal and the MOP-P4529732 “stock replacement” retainer which is designed to use the standard Chrysler black seal. The MRE220 uses two “O Ring style” side seals and the MOP-P4529732 uses a single larger silicone side seal. It is the side seal change that upgrades the MOP-P4529732 over the OEM item. I understood that in your engine a standard black Chrysler seal had been used with an MRE220 and it leaked. Upon investigation you found that whilst there is insufficient crush of the Chrysler Black seal in the MRE220, the FelPro 2947 Vitoria Seal works. Are you saying that there is also insufficient crush of the Chrysler Black seal in the MOP-P4529732? If not, then the retainers are different in the main seal area. I note that Jeff Guenther at Fast Fish Auto Parts makes his own retainer that has no side seals and relies solely on closer tolerances and RTV. His seal 10806G evidently works in either in his retainer or the OEM item. My guess is that it would also work in the Mancini MOP-P4529732 retainer, but probably not in the MRE220? Somebody needs to get the OEM, 2 x Mancini & Fast Fish Retainers + seals and do some accurate measuring.
Thank you for the great videos you do. We are only human and you did a great job in the recovery. Kudos to you.
Thanks! Time to step up our audio equipment for sure!
It's a driver great job
Appreciated!
Hey Kevin, would you know a reputable engine builder that can build me a 750 hp stroker motor, maybe like your project engine that has indy heads solid roller cam and idles like a hemi super stock motor? Thanks. I agree rust really likes mopars but i havent found a good rust proof converter chemical
Well, heck. Why not go straight to INDY if you want to use their parts? They'll dyno it and everything.
I can see extreme skill in this old fella im impressed id love to have seen more he is a true og
Jim really knows his way around a TorqueFlite.
As being a real dodge fan I definitely have dick landy on one of my top shelves there he was icon of his era not taking anything away from soxs and Martin, herb McCandless but I had dodges and that was my favorite the others were great too
Dick really was the inspiration that got me into Mopar. I owe a lot to the Landy's.
Thank you for posting this. I recently bought a block and are assembling a hemi. it's a lifelong dream.I'm impressed by the quality. My only issue so far is the original exhaust manifolds does not fit. Som material must be removed from what is left from the motor mounts and the second thing is that I have to remove some material around the oil pickup tube otherwise it will not fit. No big deal.
Huh. That's the first I've heard. Were those the 440 mounting ears that needed to be shaved to fit the Hemi mounts or vice versa?
@@moparconnection yes, those are already removed but I need to shave off additional material 1/8” or 3-4 mm on the upper edge of the block to get the manifold flush to the head.
I thought your team did a great representation of a stock 426. QUESTION: Im curious of what the gap was from the top on the piston and the block deck ?
The factory pistons were .022 "in the hole."
Don't use factory rear main seal with aftermarket rear main seal kit...it will leak, you need a fellpro seal it's larger and will give proper crush to seal correct especially on the Mancini aftermarket kit.....watch what plug wires and distributor you utilize as well.... You might have a misfire issue...😮
That's exactly the advice we give in a video dedicated to the billet main seals.
Man I'm so glad you did this and thanks for sharing you knowledge Ken!
Glad you liked it!
We all make mistakes, no one got hurt, all is good.
It's a teachable moment.
