I have to say that I watched this very attentively, but wow, you've made it very well, nothing to say about it! In Thai, the name is Pad Kra Pao (or Pad Krapow). It can be served mixed with rice as you just did, or, more commonly, with plain rice served on the side. Anyway, good job!

Few years back when I was in Thailand, I once tried fried rice in Coral Island made by old grandma, ( i asked not to add sugar coz here we don't add sugar and salt together and we dont even like it ). Nywy the fried rice felt like heaven. I can still feel the taste. Im literally drooling right now while writing this comment.. 🤤🤤

Not everyone has that and I just wanted to point out that he is just as awesome as you are. Best of luck to you both.

No one around my area knows about Thai basil. i learned I had to grow Thai basil if I wanted to have for cooking so I plant seeds every year. This year I just learned about Holy basil so I have purchased seeds. I think I will try to grow some now before winter and see if I can get a small bunch to taste and cook. I will try this dish if I get any to grow quickly. Love your channel!!

I watched this video last night and all I could dream of in my sleep was the basil fried rice... this morning I got the ingredients for the recipe and made it for lunch! I accidentally used 2 small peppers of which I did not know the spice level and after trying a couple bites of the dish almost immediately started crying from the spiciness punching me in the face. I made another batch this time without pepper and had a much better experience! I love how easy and delicious this recipe is :))

Great idea to pound the aromatic vegetables, bringing out the natural oils will probably also prevent burning! I add tons of garlic to my fried rice. I use sweet basil (or Italian basil) in my rice, I know it's not authentic but I like the sweet aroma it gives the jasmine rice.

If you are afraid that your Basil will taste too strong just add a little. You can add more to taste at the end of the cooking time. I raise my own Thai and holy basil in pots. When it gets ready to start making seed the taste gets stronger so recipes have to be adjusted.

I follow you on Facebook and watched the short version on this. Came and watched the whole version. Wonderful editing on both videos. This might not go down well but in my top cooking RUclipsrs you have surpassed Maangchi. She introduced me to korean foods, but you cook such a variety that it inspires me to make differant things.
I made this recipe for breakfast today but put it in am omlette, so Thai omurice? It was amazing. I didn't have prawns/shrimp, I did have CRAB!!! My dad caught some and I used that meat and really caramelized part of the rice. It was like a combo of Thai basil rice omlette and the bottom of crunchy rice like bibimbap.
Thankyou so much keep up the great work.

“Made” this tonight, lol. We were both too tired to go to the store to get shrimp, but flavor was top notch with just veggies and egg. Husband concurred more Thai basil, and to be honest I could have loaded it up from what was in our garden. I may have used less than what was in your recipe ;-). Can’t wait to do this again with shrimp! SOLID! ❤

Revisited this recipe once we picked up some shrimp at the next grocery run. Listen to her when she says shrimp and butter just mix! Yes, this is a fantastic recipe that will become a staple. Due to our seasons here, I’ve got a few more weeks of fresh garden Thai basil, so we’ll be capitalizing on that. Thank you so much for such a great recipe!

I made this recipe and added carrots, green beans, baby carrots, shrimp scallops and chicken. Everyone loved it! I’ve looked at a ton of different recipes but I like this the most because of the fish & oyster sauce. I was nervous about using fish sauce but now I am a fan! I would just add another Thai pepper next time. Do you marinate your chicken in anything when you add chicken to this dish? I saw some other people marinate it in fish sauce 🤔
