I am french, i worked 3,5 years in Cayó Santa Maria at the construction of the hotels as project manager. We had access at few hot et ls for finner, drink and shows. The playa had the bedt nightshows on fridays. The lobby was great . For snorkeling, you have to go near the bridges of the causeway,it is fantastique to watch sealife there
Excellent video as always! Food looks more than adequate there and the villa is just beautiful, the outside area is just stunning. My guess would be that it's hard to book and probably exceeds my travel budget, oh well, one can dream, lol.
Another great video Mike, we love staying at Playa, this resort has a great layout that is easy to navigate and has a couple different pool options with party pool or a couple big lazy pools, and the beach is amazing !

Thx Mike for memory lane. I rented the villa back in '14 for a few nights....back then, it was $300cuc for half or $600cuc for the whole villa a night. Also, it came with a butler which was at your beckon call for you & even stayed with you at other parts of the resort getting your drink without needing to wait at the bar. There was a kitchen & one night, my friend caught a gorgeous ocean fish from deep sea fishing & they sent a cook to cook it!!!! Great memories!!! I still dream about taking an outdoor shower & massive jacuzzi tub. The private pool & private dining & private sea facing lounges was unforgettable. Definitely worth the upgrade & I'm so grateful to have stayed at the private villa back then. Nice to see it still available. Perfect for anyone who wants a more private experience with access to the rest of the resort. Nice to see the beer garden still exists!!!! That was a big selling feature that the resort has & many returning guests return just because of the beer garden 🍻
Absolutely love your outlook on the Cuban resorts. We've been to the iberostar ensenachos resort twice (once coral side) and never went hungry, despite what alot of people say. We had low expectations going and were pleasantly surprised. Like you, we go for the BEACH. It blew us away. Looking at trying a new resort and this place looks great. @@rednosepitter not really. I put in dates on the hotel’s own website, and it was a ridiculous price. Over $5k USD for room only, at one week. A 10 yr old Reddit post showed a front desk upgrade sign at about $500 USD per day. Looks to me like you’d have to take the chance of trying to upgrade once on site. A big risk, as there’s only the one villa.
Love your video's and we love Cuba too. Been there 20 times. Like you we go there for the beach and always go to a different Resort each time we go. You're always asking for suggestions and we haven't seen you at the Sol Cayo Coco yet? It's just a small resort but a lot repeat guests there. Like to see your opinion of that Resort. Now a days we look for the less travel time to get on the beach. What a great job you do for all us people looking for that Resort to go to next.!

We googled the resort’s website and saw $5,100US per week for April. I believe that’s for the villa for 2 people and not sure what other charges are on top of that - like airfare. Unfortunately it wasn’t clear but it’s clearly beyond what we’d consider spending.
Beautiful villa is size of a house 🏠 😂👌 1.5 hours drive with two kids little hard for us! But kids would have loved to be in that villa specially having their own room and pool ❤ Mike how was evening mosquitoes flies situation?
The driver on the bus to the resorts stated that this resort was the only resort fully owned by Cubans.. Only saw a brief glimpse of the resort via the the open air panoramic bus tour to Cayo Santa Maria, but first impressions looks great. Thank you sharing your adventures with us

How does one book the Garden Villa ? It doesn’t show as options when I looked at Sunwing or Transat. I’ll check other air canada but do we ave to book directly with hotel ?

Hate to say I told you but if you don't get the villa you get your preferred room and you are booked into as many ala cartes if you wish plus invites to any special events. I really like this resort, glad you enjoyed and saw what I get when I come here, plus its so easy to navigate, not too large, I stay in 775 and that works for me, the CSM is amazing and she remembers you. Stayed at Starfish for 2 nights then transferred to the Playa and they were ready for me. Did NOT like the Starfish, although their beach and pools are the best. everything was not great.

Hi Love your work. Got a question, wife and I are heading to Cuba for Christmas and I believe you can get a better currency exchange from guys on the street, like triple what you would normally get. Basically black market. How and where do you find these people?. Also I have some of the old Cuban tourist money, can you bring it back and get it exchanged or is it just Monopoly money now. okay i will be completely honest And Forward ...Ive been to cuba 5 times ....I was amazed to see the horse and buggy way of trave l,humble life ...Loved every minute of our country drive to praradise resorts .... when i got home to canada i felt like i was rich....But hated the way of our living ..... i prefer the organic life of cubans .....
This is what you do to save cab money. Bring some used shoes and clothing. The cab drive would take that over cash. Don't being junk bring nice used stuff. If you don't have any, got to a 2nd hand shop. Trust me on this. Forgot to ask how the egg working out boss?
Hey Mike, Cuba restricted power usage.Multiple, island-wide blackouts in October and November left millions of people in the dark for days. Rolling blackouts continue nationwide as Cuba struggles to source the fuel and spare parts it needs to generate enough electricity to meet demand. INCLUDES, Resorts, accorning to Cuba news. NOT Good for tourists. I wa just about to book and prices for mid December, way too high. Happy travels..
Looked it up and the Beach Suite is $5,100US for a week in April - and don't think it includes air. A bit out of reach for most. Love your vids but relate better to the one's geared for us regular folks!
This hotel is really mid… beach amazing off course but hotel is nothing special. The villa though is crazy… since when you can have a villa on resort lol? Never knew they had villas to offer , I don’t even think they offer it when booking…

We stayed here in January it was on the more affordable side - might have been because they do a cheaper price for kids

Love your work. Got a question, wife and I are heading to Cuba for Christmas and I believe you can get a better currency exchange from guys on the street, like triple what you would normally get. Basically black market. How and where do you find these people?. Also I have some of the old Cuban tourist money, can you bring it back and get it exchanged or is it just Monopoly money now.

Was just looking for an idea of what it may cost, with the understanding that it may differ during the time I travel. The info is not easy to find for some reason. okay i will be completely honest And Forward ...Ive been to cuba 5 times ....I was amazed to see the horse and buggy way of trave l,humble life ...Loved every minute of our country drive to praradise resorts .... when i got home to canada i felt like i was rich....But hated the way of our living ..... i prefer the organic life of cubans .....
When traveling to Cuba I also think it’s special, the way life moves on and the way they keep going regardless of the pressure from the modern world

This is what you do to save cab money. Bring some used shoes and clothing. The cab drive would take that over cash. Don't being junk bring nice used stuff. If you don't have any, got to a 2nd hand shop. Trust me on this. Forgot to ask how the egg working out boss?
Hey Mike, Cuba restricted power usage.Multiple, island-wide blackouts in October and November left millions of people in the dark for days. Rolling blackouts continue nationwide as Cuba struggles to source the fuel and spare parts it needs to generate enough electricity to meet demand. INCLUDES, Resorts, accorning to Cuba news. NOT Good for tourists. I wa just about to book and prices for mid December, way too high. Happy travels..

Looked it up and the Beach Suite is $5,100US for a week in April - and don't think it includes air. A bit out of reach for most. Love your vids but relate better to the one's geared for us regular folks!

This hotel is really mid… beach amazing off course but hotel is nothing special. The villa though is crazy… since when you can have a villa on resort lol? Never knew they had villas to offer , I don’t even think they offer it when booking…
