That looked like an expression of anger. First a smile at her in tatters, then anger at what she did to her. Also, revenge isnt empty in and of itself. • @hollowbox5723

Honestly I take it as karma, the latter, with a indication of the past
Da-Jeong probably displayed a brief smile for a moment as she was accusing Bok-su, the feeling of getting away with it and pinning on her former friend, ruining her life. She didn't feel anything from it.
In the moment you can imagine the final scene mirroring the past
The horrifyed look of desperation of something you didn't do
And the person who did it to you smiling, knowing they did it
before defaulting to fear to blend back in, just like Da-Jeong did before
Maybe Bok-su feels guilty about it, but the fact that Da-Jeong didn't seem to feel any guilt probably makes Bok-su take it as "the feeling's mutual then"
Idk, that's how I'm seein it, apologies for my ramble.

  • @aperson9223

I really like the parallel between the patient's mom wailing over their son/Bok-su saying "I didn't do it, it's her fault" and Myeong-hoon's mom yelling "GEY AWAY FROM MY SON"/Da-jeong mirroring what Bok-su said before. That detail about the patient is definitely intentional, it's neat. Also, it's confirmed by the creator that Myeong-hoon never cheated and it was just a rumor that Bok-su spread, which makes his death even sadder. Poor guy just wanted to enjoy his wedding :(

Korean here, ‘복수‘, ’Bok-su’, the protagonist’s name, literally means ‘revenge’. Adding her family name, ‘고’, turns it into ‘high/great revenge’
‘다정‘, or Da-jeong, means ‘caring’, while the family name ‘최‘, means ‘ultimate’ or ‘to the highest extent of’.
‘명훈‘, or ‘Myeong-hoon’, means ‘master’s orders’, and adding ‘단’ (which usually means ‘all’) turns it into ‘short-lived order’.
Just found that interesting. If anyone has alternate translations I’m happy to discuss!
I definitely see the resemblance to ‘친절한 금자씨’ (Lady Vengeance), especially with the name ‘복수‘ being used as well as the narrative of being blamed by the perpetrator and taking revenge on them.

While what the lead is doing is not right it makes you ask if we can trust the bride. The bride met the groom as part of an accident where the groom took all the blame. Most people wouldn't help so much if you crashed into their vehicle, helping the victim of your accident means they are less likely to press charges or react negatively. They just coincidentally hit things off.
The point of how many people she killed, all for throwing the lead and maybe others under the bus, is incredibly valid.
Then we get the real question were the lead and bride friends or was the bride using the lead to get through medical school?
Our lead showed regret, while the bride never did.
Don't throw people under the bus, you might create your own monster that returns the favor tenfold.
Don't chase revenge, it won't fix things and only leaves you with regret.

Well said. Though some people who exact revenge don't feel regret. They feel joy for a moment and then emptiness. The only ones who live on happily are those who gained a lot as a result (fame, fortune, etc.), or are insane. In the case of this game, I'm thinking Bok-Su is just insane. The pain she felt drove her to become a monster with only one goal. Maybe she does feel sadness or regret judging by that last shot, but who knows?

    • @z2yn
      @z2yn 2 месяца назад +14

I personally don't think the lead felt regret - at most only for the groom and his family, but she also probably thought he was a fool for falling for Da-Jeong (which could have been interpreted from her expressions when he told her how they met).
I think her expression at the end was trying to hide within the crowd - if she showed no reaction or was seen smiling, she'd be suspected as the only other one at the scene.
She only lets Da-Jeong see her smile, then immediately fakes disgust/horror at what happened.

I liked this more than I expected - at first I thought the alibi setup was pretty weak, since everyone saw them go in together and the protagonist changed her clothes, but the right details came in to make it work. It's almost a Machiavellian justice - they both kill people and suffer consequences for it, just not at the right time; arguably not the right punishments either, since the bride will probably suffer more serious punishment for murder than the protagonist faced for accidental manslaughter, but the protagonist suffered unjustly while the bride forced that suffering onto her for however many years, so you could also argue that it evens out.
Really nice work, it almost reminds me of old Victorian short stories.

I’ve seen quite a bit of theories about why Bok-su frowned at the end and I just wanted to share mine!!
I think it’s anger. She did all of that.
She had that shit planned out. All to make Da-jeong-in her words- ‘atone’ (honestly pretty fair choice of words).
AFTER ALL THAT, nothing. Not an “I’m sorry.”, “I was wrong.”, or an “I apologize.”. NOTHINGGGGG, and I’ve been in situations kinda similar where someone will go through hell and high water FOR AN APOLOGY. THATS LITERALLY IT.
So TLDR: Da-Jeong didn’t apologize or wtv tf Bok-su meant by ‘atone’ and Bok-su was angry

Police just do that if it's too much of a pain in the ass.

I don't think I'd matter bc like the 1st comment said, the coat is burned to ash, and perhaps the cake knife was just stored somewhere else for a bit? idk I don't think it'd matter without the actual coat.
The thing I think would matter is witnesses and Boks story. Did anybody ever see De-jeoung enter the kitchen to grab the knife? How long did she and Bok talk for, what did they talk about, and why was the husband briefly in the closet? Did De-jeoung try hiding the body there and keep Bok-su silent?
Although I think the fact that people's memories notably get VERY blurry during stress/trauma would be pretty easy to explain some things; both for the wedding guests and Bok.

Gosh, the art is so pretty.
I always love watching/playing these kinds of games and wonder to myself "how could I turn this around in a sort of AU where we get a happier ending."
So, at first, I was like "Oh, this is easy. MC chooses NOT to do what she ends up doing." But then I found out she had a reason and it was actually a bit sad to watch...I realized that it wouldn't have been as easy to just...make the MC just not do it. We have a reason for her wanting to cause pain to the bride.
I guess the alternative would be that the bride goes and tries to apologize for the accident and, miraculously, gets the MC to not kill the poor groom.
...Or, hay, turn it to where the groom KNEW the person that the bride killed (maybe a brother or close friend) and the MC tells the groom about what happened (...before the murdering) and THAT'S how she gets her revenge.
    ...
    ...
And, why not. Let the MC end up marrying the groom instead. I don't know.

I like how the main character at the end kind of frowns or smth and realized revenge wasnt worth it and what she did was wrong

I feel like using the same kind of injury that she was accused of before might be evidence in the wrong direction, unless she also wants to reverse that previous incident, too?
