One of my favorite sitcoms of all time. Jack Klugman and Tony Randall were both hilarious. I don't understand why it didn't get better ratings. I've watched repeats of the show since the late 70's. One of my favorite episodes is when Oscar sleepwalks night after night and hits Felix over the head with a twisted magazine.
What more can I say than what has already been said, other than--This show came on the air when I was 13 years old and a carefree Long Island resident. It was so much fun to watch! The intro to the show got better over the years. Al Molinaro made a very believable NYC cop, and Penny Marshall was a great cast addition. And finally, I'm glad that the other actors weren't able to be cast as Oscar and Felix. Nobody did it better than Jack and Tony! I wish those guys had been my uncles. I felt like they were...
I loved everything about this show -- even the theme song. I wish they would put it back on television. The show was ahead of my time, but I was blessed enough to view reruns and loved the show.
I faithfully watch The Odd Couple 2 times a day on the channel named Decades. On a separate note, I watch Quincy back to back episodes on Cozi Tv. I love the shows that remind me when I was younger💟
When I was at nyu I bumped into Tony Randall on Broadway and being a huge fan of the odd couple I instinctively called him Felix. Well he flipped! He chewed me out for at least five minutes. "My name is Mr. Randall, blah,blah,blah..." The whole time I couldn't stop thinking I'm being yelled at by Felix Unger.
Oy. You might want to get the actors' names right. First, the name of the actor who played Oscar was Jack Klugman (the surname's first syllable has the vowel in "hug" or "jug"), not John Kloogman. Egad. Secondly, Felix's daughter Edna was played by Pamelyn Ferdin, not Fredin. Finally, in The New Odd Couple, Oscar was played by Demond (not Desmond) Wilson.
I liked when Oscar inadvertently got Felix hooked on gambling, and made Felix hold some of the winnings back before betting it all again. Felix said, "O.k., $5.00 for socks!"
Truly I loved them both. Jack Klugman and Tony Randall were just wonderful. I thank God we had them. Felix was called fussy, I call him delightful. Oscar, I am glad he had that name and that manly way of doing things. Jack Klugman truly listened to Tony Randall. They both had many other great acting roles and thank goodness. Right now I am sad there are gone but they made life better. I loved them so much!
Now this is weird. Both Howard Cosell and Bobby Riggs appeared on The Odd Couple. I guess Gary Marshall eventually changed his mind about the situation...
Nothing can compare to the original Odd Couple. It can be watched over & over & always is hilarious. Walter Matthau & Jack Lemon were utterly perfect & utterly hilarious. They don’t make them like that anymore. RIP both. Love you!
I binge on this show now that I'm older. Perfect coupling of two amazing actors. Great watch!! Thanks for your always interesting content. You don't disappoint!! 😊👍
I can definitely be Felix with how I can obsess over everything, but my bedroom floor has Oscar written all over it. I am my own self-contained odd couple. Even the people who know me best can't figure me out. Always keep 'em guessing!
Richard Stahl was the go-to actor when it came to playing the reverends in fouled-up weddings and other ones, which he did about four times. So it's too bad he isn't in that final one where Felix and Gloria remarry.
In the beginning you made a mistake and said John Klugman instead of Jack . No biggie , just letting you know . Also , I believe Klugman is pronounced with a uh or ugg sound rather than the ooh sound for the u . Other than those 2 minor details though , you did a great job !! Really enjoyed the show and your vid - Thanks !!
I hate to admit it, but I relate to Felix. Not because I'm obsessed with neatness, but because I identify with his being offended by poor manners and behavior. But, like Felix, if I try to say something about it, even though I'm right, it comes across wrong. I just can't express it in a way that doesn't sound judgmental and petty.
Neat-freak Felix was actually found in Oscar's ratty bed one episode. When Oscar asked him why, a nasally stuffed-up Felix was all "I needed a place where I could let my sinuses drain."
How can you even pick a favorite? Password episode was hilarious, the life-saving episode, the airplane episode, the courtroom "assume" episode, 12 Angry Men episode. The wilderness episode with the kids. This was fun, clean humor.
One of my favorite sitcoms I own the complete series on DVD , I also work a block in a half from the opening credits resident building. Keep up the good work.
Always loved the Odd Couple, brings back sweet memories of my teen years. Jack Klugman is a cool guy my favorite love him in everything! God bless them both, I still laugh watching them.
I watched the show from the day it premiered and throughout its run and syndication, never knew it struggled in the ratings. The movie is a classic favorite of mine and I've seen it multiple times as well. Coincidentally I was wonderfully why I didn't hear "childhood friends" in the intro when I listened to the intro recently. I distinctly remembered it as a kid.
I loved watching The Odd Couple with my dad... It was so funny, & I looked forward to watching it every week. At that time, I'd say I was more Oscar, cuz my dad was a neat freak, & my messy room, & sloppy ways, would rattle his cage, lol....now, I'm a bit more Felix...
The Randall/Klugman chemistry is one of the best in all of TV history! Also, a female stage version of "The Odd Couple" ran in the mid-80's on Broadway for ~ 300 performances with Rita Moreno and Sally Struthers in the lead roles.
OMG! If you are going to make an informative video, at least get the names right! The man's name is JACK Klugman (pronounced KLUHG-man) If you want a VO that will pronounce stuff correctly, give me a call. Great info, despite the bad VO.
Howard Cosell was in an episode. That's when he called Felix an "inane drone". When Oscar asked Felix what that meant, Felix replied "Why, it's a dull bee. Then Oscar said "He's right, you are an inane drone!"

Klugman and Randall were the best tv comedy team of all time and TOC is the greatest sitcom. It balanced set up gags w character arcs better than any other show.
I grew up watching the reruns of the Odd Couple in the summer I was hooked and I watched the Honeymooners as well I was born in 71 and growing up in the 70s and 80s these were great shows for summer nights
My half-brother, after he married Michael "Momma Walton" Learned in 1979, bought half of Tony Randall's twelve-bedroom apartment at 145 Central Park West, so I've actually been in Felix's apartment! Klugman lived at 1049 Park Avenue, and I saw him once at the OTB at 69th and Second (near Sloan Kettering where he was getting his cancer treatments and where my ex-girlfriend worked in fact I saw him after our last lunch date).
I like the episode "Good, Bad Boy." Felix has been doing a photo shoot about a reform school for boys; he brings one of them home. He gets Oscar to take the kid to the Knicks/Bucks game; later, the boy meets Felix's daughter, Edna and invites her to a dance at his "school." Felix objects until Oscar suggests they chaperone the dance.
There are two other versions of how Felix and Oscar met that aren't mentioned in this video: one version is that they met in a bar when Felix first moved to the city following his divorce from Gloria and Oscar took pity on him. The other version is their fathers knew each other: Oscar's dad was a near-sighted mobster whose eye doctor was Felix's dad; Oscar's dad had to kill Felix's dad, but couldn't bring himself to do it, so they had to flee town and moved into a rundown apartment where Felix and Oscar met.
You do see King and Riggs together, briefly. They play ping-pong. One kid actor, whom I can name, and who had a lot of work from the mid-1960’s into the mid-1970’s, was first named Jean-Michel Michenaud, then Gerald Michenaud. Very dark hair, with a pleasant face - but there is a touch of a hint of mischief there, around the eyes. He appeared in an episode of “The Odd Couple:” “Good, Bad Boy.” Felix has been doing a photo shoot at a boys’ reform school. A boy (portrayed by James Van Patten, Dick Patten’s son) is allowed a day out with Felix. Felix brings him home. He gets Oscar to take the kid to a basketball game. The boy later meets Felix’s daughter, Edna. He invites Edna to a dance at his school. Felix objects, but Oscar gets him to agree by offering to chaperone the dance with Felix. Of course, Van Patten is not the kid who really caught my attention. Now, at the dance, Gerald Michenaud plays the warden’s son. He is offering refreshments and he jokes with Oscar and, you guessed it, he teases Felix by saying, clearly in jest, the kids have an escape planned. While this episode is my favorite of that series, one thing about it I don’t like: At the dance, Oscar is yukking it up with these little ruffians, while Felix is cast out as, like, “Little Lord Fauntleroy,” or the kid these kids would terrorize if Felix were still a kid. I would love for any of you people who do these videos about the old shows and their actors/actresses to bring us up-to-date on Jean-Michel Michenaud/ Gerald Michenaud (he changed his name somewhere along that time). There is little online about him except that I read he became a producer. It is possible he just does not want to be disturbed. I noticed during the COVID 19 virus that two former kid stars whose shows ("Leave it to Beaver" and "The Rifleman) - Ken Osmond (Wally's pal, Eddie Haskell) and Johnny Crawford (Lucas's kid, Mark) died, and not a single word was said on MeTV about them. Perhaps the station reached out to all the actors who were older but living, asking for permission to honor them - when their "time came." Maybe some actors and actresses don't want to be mentioned.
Here's a bit of trivia... Michenaud was in a Christmas episode of "That Girl," which also featured Christopher Shea, who played Phillip Wexler in S1 of "The Odd Couple."
The odd couple is my favorite TV show of all time I still watch at least three or four episodes a week . And my wife can tell you I’m a slob and I guess that makes me an Oscar
Klugman and Randall were two of my most favorite actors. I thought they were better in their roles than Jack Lemon and Walter Matthau, both of whom I respect greatly. I would watch reruns of The Odd Couple if it were on cable. The same is true of the movie. I love both of them Lastly I loved the supporting characters immensely. They fit into their supporting roles perfectly. I was truly saddened by the deaths of all four of these men. They were simply wonderful people.
Tony Randall made the weekly show funny. I watched it when new, as a child and in my early teens. Klugman was good as Oscar Madison. Penny Marshall was his secretary. This show was funny, I don't know why it was so low in ratings. I think it was on new from 1971-1975. I was age 14 or 15 when it was canceled. I watched every ep, and liked it.
Tony Randall and Jack Klugman were friends both on and off the TV screen, so their on the show bickering was seldom taken personally. I would normally watch "The Odd Couple" before going to bed when it was on ABC TV network on Friday nights.
@@FactsVerse geez so many great ones but I really like the one where Felix is afraid to get into airplanes and fly... And also the pilot episode where they have a party in the laundry room... The one where Oscar is punched by the hockey player is great too... I've seen them all bought the whole series in dvd no bad episodes
2:14 mentions the 1980s, but the original run of this show was in the 1970s, 5:08 mentions 1957 movie "12 Angry Men." Jack Klugman played one of the jurors, and I cannot find Tony Randall in that movie.
Watch the reruns regularly. It is always funny no matter how many times I watch it. My understanding is the released DVDs from CBS are cut so not contain the original content.

"The Odd Couple" is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time-Tony Randall & Jack Klugman were outstanding!
Jack lemmon and Walter Matthau starred in the movie version of the odd couple in 1968. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Art Carney and Walter Matthau starred in the original Broadway production.
Wonderful show and great actors. I loved that scene where Felix explains the word, "assume".
Wasn't that originally done by Abbott and Costello?

This show was funny, I don't know why it was so low in ratings. I think it was on new from 1971-1975. I was age 14 or 15 when it was canceled. I watched every ep, and liked it.
Thanks for watching!
One of my faves as a kid…
Happy Friday Facts Verse
Thanks for watching!
I love this show and the characters and consider myself to be a little of both!
We're happy to know that you're a fan of the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
I relate to John Kloogman the most. You spend too much time on your swing set
He should resign! He probably pronounces Donald Trump as Donald Troomp too.
Jack
Both 💗💗💗
Thanks for watching!
Tony Randall and Jack Klugman were friends both on and off the TV screen, so their on the show bickering was seldom taken personally. I would normally watch "The Odd Couple" before going to bed when it was on ABC TV network on Friday nights.
I will admit that I'm the female version of Oscar.
You're not admitting anything. You're proud of it, quite obviously.
Thanks for watching!
Two women will probably be the next reboot.
@@meadster308 A reboot with two disabled black trans folks is probably at least going to be considered.

It was attempted on B'way back in '80's with Rita Moreno and Sally Struthers.
It's in the top five of greatest shows ever in my opinion
Indeed! We're happy to know that you love the show. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. If we may ask, which episode did you like the best?
@@FactsVerse geez so many great ones but I really like the one where Felix is afraid to get into airplanes and fly... And also the pilot episode where they have a party in the laundry room... The one where Oscar is punched by the hockey player is great too... I've seen them all bought the whole series in dvd no bad episodes
2:14 mentions the 1980s, but the original run of this show was in the 1970s,
5:08 mentions 1957 movie "12 Angry Men." Jack Klugman played one of the jurors, and I cannot find Tony Randall in that movie.
Thanks for watching!
Watch the reruns regularly. It is always funny no matter how many times I watch it. My understanding is the released DVDs from CBS are cut so not contain the original content.
I shut if off when the guy said "John Kloogman."
JOHN KLUGE-MAN? Really, dude? How about trying a little bit! DAMN!!!
