The fact that he does not, or will not recognise just how pitiful his performance was in the debate proves that he is no longer fit to lead.

Biden has acknowledged his performance in debate was not good. But considering the amount of international travel he had done and had a cold.... He knows it wasn't good but has vowed to give his best. There's different thoughts about his health and I personally think he will be OK. Certainly infinitely better than insane Trump. And with the strong support of the Democrat party if he needs to step down at some stage then the Democrats will be perfectly competent to carry through good policies preserving democracy, freedom, justice and improve life for all.

The mental competence of a president is not determined by one debate performance. Democratic Party primary voters overwhelmingly chose Biden as their candidate. We must respect the wish of the voters, not what some journalists or political pundits are saying. No other current US politician has a record as stellar as Joe Biden’s to run on. Biden is not leaving the race.

Valid concerns about Trump's unpredictability should be balanced with verified information regarding Biden's health, rather than speculative claims. Europe can take on Russia, but doubtful they could finish the fight as Europe has hollowed out his military too deeply during the peace dividend. Just look at Ukraine support, it's overwhelmingly from the US as the EU simply does not have deep capacity. Why were the USA so successful in the Cold War?
They implemented the Marshall Plan to economically strengthen their partners in Europe.
The USA was the largest economy and opened its market to the products of its allies.
The USA offered its allies a security umbrella with nuclear deterrence through NATO.
This enabled America to push back the influence of the Soviet Union on Europe and ultimately win the Cold War.
The alliance between Western Europe and the USA is difficult today.
Germany, for example, follows a mercantilist economic model and is therefore dependent on cheap energy and large growth markets.
Russia and China can offer both to Western Europe like no other country.
The USA, on the other hand, is becoming increasingly less important as an economic partner.
And since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Western Europe no longer faces a serious military threat from Russia.
Nevertheless, tens of thousands of American soldiers are still stationed in hundreds of US military bases and US nuclear weapons are on German soil.
If you look at the situation objectively from the US perspective, America is protecting Europe from the countries with which it has close trade relations.
However, Europe's core interest is to further develop its economic relations with the US's biggest competitors.
Do not be blinded by the rhetoric of politicians.
Feelings, shared history, values, culture and traditions play no role at all in whether alliances really work.
What matters is whether interests coincide.
And it turns out that today the interests of Europe and the US are no longer compatible and this partnership will soon end.
