I forgot to add a subtitle to mention that “Sexy No No No” incorporates a sample of Nazareth's 1975 song "Hair of the Dog", for which they received a writing credit. In case you wondered who that was before the “Sexy No No No” video clip 😂
I still remember when Sexy! No No No first got played at T4 On The Beach, you could just tell this era was going to be epic. Such fond memories of the Tangled Up era, the album felt like such a love-letter to the hardcore Girls Aloud fans giving us exactly what we wanted from them!
The golden era. What a time to be a fan. And the best tour. Filmed just before every recorded live show for any artist became competitions for the quickest most frantic editing!! Best song: Call The Shots Girl Overboard Control The Knife Fling ❤❤❤
The dance break from Cheryl during tour on Control of the knife 🔥 I got to know about Girls aloud after they had been some years already a group and not from UK so never saw them live and didn't really travel on my own abroad/no money etc. Seen all the tours here on youtube several times this one 🤩
This is my fave GA album and their first era that I got to experience as a fan. Thanks for doing justice to how iconic and amazing this album is. I really hope the band gets rediscovered by Gen Z and has a revival, It's so sad to see how their label does the bare minimun to keep their legacy alive
Who’s everyone favourite from the band, Kimberly is mine she seems so nice and down to earth 😊 another great video was excited too see it pop up this morning
They all belonged in the group ❤ Cheryls stage aura is just there. She knows she is not the strongest singer but makes up for it with choreo and an attitude. I loved Sarahs naughty side and she was always underappreciated. Crazy how many fab bsides they had. Dog without a bone is just 🎉❤ Thank you once again for all the work u put into making these ❤❤❤ 😊
very surprised there was no footage of them singing call the shots on the x factor as i always thought this was a further turning point for the band to be taken more seriously especially with such an amazing performance
Yasssssssssssss!!! "Sexy! No, No, No..." was the first song I ever heard by GA on a channel called International Music Feed (I'm American), and my obsession grew from there. I've always said "Chemistry" was my favorite album of theirs. But I think I'm changing my answer to "Tangled Up" after this retrospective and some deeper consideration.
I loved this era for Girls Aloud, I had this album on repeat when I was getting ready to head out. You can tell that their sound was still true to the Girls Aloud sound but moved on and evolved which is what you’d want any artist to do. I’m seeing a lot of Kimberly hate on here which I don’t understand, her low voice is crucial to the harmonies for the group and literally the base of the tracks. I think a lot may be down to the writers not knowing what to do with her voice tbh which is what happens to many members in girl groups. They all are a building block in the band which is what’s needed in order for it work, and it actually did even if their personal relationships had broken down I guess it does show that they were professional and kept it separate from their work lives.
This album is so amazing, tho Chemistry is still my favorite. Their entire discography is just top notch. Also, after watching your Sugababes series, it's kinda weird seeing a girl group journey with so little drama and zero lineup changes 😆
Like others here… this was my first era with GA. I found them with Something Kinda and never looked back! I love these videos as it’s puts me into the group more than what I saw during their run!
Despite being a fan of the girls since the beginning, I’ve learned a lot of new facts from your videos! Didn’t know that Nadine sang all the lyrics and then the team would place the other girls around her vocals. This also contributed to her ego and feeling like she had potential beyond the group. Tangled Up was prime Girls Aloud. Also, I feel like “Girl Overboard” or “Close to Love” could have easily been singles, but after the close call of “Can’t Speak French” debuting at #9 and ruining their top 10 streak, I think the label decided to just conclude the Tangled Up era.
Welk, she always sang most of their stuff. Why keep the others on the payroll full time? Be efficient and have them come in for backround vocals. Let them go home after.
My favorite album from the girls. Every song could have been a single. The visuals for the singles was incredible and the tour while simple was incredibly effective. The opening alone was easily the best ive seen! Never understood why Out Of Control became their best selling one..i actually think it's the weakest since their debut
God this was a good album, I remember first buying it back in the day and just playing it to death. GA for me are hands down the UK'S best girl group imo, far superior to the Spice Girls. I'll still be bopping away to them when I'm old and wrinkly 😍😍😍
I still wish I knew why it had such dull cover art. I was a teenager when it came out and honestly looking back, I think the bad cover was why I never bought it. Obvs I bought the singles :)
@@popunderrated oh really? Interesting idea. But it still looks like something shoved together in Microsoft paint 😂 Btw I am obsessed with your channel, been watching all week !
I thought her comments about Britney came from a good place. Seeing Cheryl fangirling over Britney and wanting to save her from she was going throught at the time it's so cute
This is hands down their best album. Bops, bangers, and vibes galore. The only track I don’t like is “Damn” cos I don’t think it really fits into the album. Not sure why exactly, but I always skip it.
Nadine really started to show her true intentions of distancing herself from the band on this era, Idk why the "CHIMOLA" trinity always gets the blame of the frictions within the band when in fact Nadine thought she was the Beyonce of the group (when in reality she was the Nicole Scherzinger lol) and tried to slowly part ways since the Tangled Up era. Funny how things turned out 🤭

No hard feelings tho , Nadine is the main vocalist of GA 💜
Girls aloud would be nothing without Nadine. You can see so clearly Kimberly is the main cause of it. Her and Nicola in cheryls ear. I genuinely don’t think there was ever an issue between Nadine and Cheryl. More Kimberly and Nicola.
Kimberly's voice is definitely the weakest for this pop group sound. I feel she managed to slip through any negatives toward her vocal because everyone was so focused on Cheryl. Kimberly was very lucky in that respect, no one ever mentioned her. You can really see Kimberly struggle with singing and performance. Nice person though I'm sure. I think Nadine simply because of the voice and accent lol. I liked Kimberly aswell the most maybe.
Fantastic videos. All of your channel 👏🏽 And my oh my, Nadine’s star was/is so bright!
It always felt a shame that they didn’t go with Girl Overboard as the 4th single as I believe that’s what the plan might have been.
