now THESE are the pro tips for producers! (As producing is often NOT the problem)

I like giving posture and chair advice first instead of the “treat your room.” This makes me smile. I tried to standing desk for while, and honestly if I had more space, I think that’s the answer.

This is true I’ve been recording and producing music for a decade now it’s only been the past year or so I’ve been confident in what I’m doing. In my experience the best thing to do is to work really hard mastering your skills for 2-3 year and then put it all to practice as much as you can. Work with musicians and get feedback from others. The BIG game changer too is to use reference tracks listen to the volume, width, tone everything and if the song is similar to the one you’re working on then copy it. Try to get your mix to sound as close as possible and then you will start to learn how to mix and master properly. From a creative point of view just try stuff, reverse guitar parts, automate a massive reverb on a vocal for one powerful word. Work hard and experiment, don’t think too much about it and if it sounds good it sounds good. Sending love from Glasgow ❤

I go to sleep every night annoyed with myself so I'm going to try your to-do list method. Really enjoying your videos, keep up the good work :]

Good video. I'm a lyric writer, it's interesting to hear a producer's perspective. This is good advice for anyone who sits down for long periods of time, a good breakdown of ways to stay healthy. Your tip about keeping your knees level with your hips is a tip I will remember. I also use a mesh chair, it keeps me from getting sweaty. When it's cold I place fleece pillowcases on the seat and back of the chair to stay warm.

Great advice. I wouldn't lie about why I have to end a session though. (When the client starts talking about last weeks episode and you don't know shit LOL). One time I had someone say they started working on something for me, only to find out I sent it to the wrong email so he didn't even have it yet. I never forgot that and don't trust him anymore, and won't work with him professionally ever again. NEVER LIE. The truth is good enough, take me or leave me.

I’ve been dealing with the same and the chiropractor has been a big help. Shopped around for one that’s more like a PT and it’s $60 a visit without insurance and it’s honestly saved my year. I know people have opinions about chiro but it’s done wonders for me.

I am at my happiest but I am also very, very, very exhausted. You NEED to make it sustainable guys. I'll also add this : I've spent a good chunk of time in the traditional recording industry and, right now, ALL studios are WAY behind because they don't know how to work like the artists are doing since the pandemic. So if you have more convenience, faster speed, and cooler vibes, even half your top speed will easily be faster than your average big "real" studio right now. Things are changing FAST. The first cardioid mic with no proximity effect was just released, and it cost 500 (!!!) bucks... my friend who works with a MIDAS Heritage will switch to digital in a few months... so do NOT believe that you need a ton of analogue gear. If anything, investing in 2p arcade system, fresh snacks, a water filter, deep-cleaning of your home etc will be 1000x times better for your business than gear!!!
