Unusually, father Momotaro was giving attention to mother Genki. It seems that mother Genki was not convinced (laughs).
On rainy days, when they enter the shelter room, father Momotaro does not come out anymore. Kintaro also loves the shelter room.
The day's shooting ended when we saw him return to the room after the indoor cleaning was finished.

He came to the Kyoto City Zoo in 2010.
Genki (mother) was born on June 24, 1986.
I was born in Kyoto and came back to Kyoto.

I read somewhere that gorillas sleep a lot and that it’s very important for them because that’s when their food is digested. Makes sense considering male gorillas eat up to 32kg per day and females about two thirds of that. 🦍😊🦍

Surprisingly, today they’re all out in the rain. Out of the Momotaro family, Gentaro hates the rain the most. Always wiping it off his face.
Reminds me of when Kinny was a newborn and Gentaro was constantly pestering Genki 😂 The time Genki was having a drink and Gentaro decided it was a good time to annoy his mother. She turned around and spat a mouthful of water into his face 🤣 He started doing that face wiping like here 3:08 😂
Genki will sit in the rain when there’s food. She can eat in peace then because the others run inside (at times Kintaro will stay out in the rain with her) ❤
Gentaro is going to be a very good looking Silverback. He’s not quite there yet (the crest on the top of his head is still small compared to Momotaro and his back is not quite ‘silver’ yet) Gentaro has such a sweet face his heart shaped nose and his kind, gentle eyes (even though he can still be a bit of a pest 😂) 🦍❤️🦍
Gentaro never likes his hairdo getting wet. He always tries to be near Genki when it rains, she normally doesnt mind but he is getting so big. Genki is a trooper she handles all kinds of weather

We need more info and context in these videos, i am fed up of people bad mouthing Momotaro and Gentaro, without any knowledge of how captive Gorillas behave.
I feel a little sad to see Genki afraid of Gentaro when he approached to where she was eating.
Poor Genki. Not only does she have to be on alert for Momotaro but now Gentaro too. Luckily he didn’t hurt her this time but she lost some of the food she collected by running away because she thought Gentaro was going to take it away from her or hurt her.
I know that’s the way it is in the animal world but because their enclosure is very small for 4 gorillas, there’s really nowhere she can run to. 😢😢

Why is Genki so afraid of Gentero ? That is her son, and she did ( supposedly ) accept him back
I think it's just the typical pecking order in gorilla troupes. Momo is the alpha so everyone capitulates to him. Gentaro appears to have moved into the number two spot so Genki now has to yield to him. Plus, Gentaro has been rough with her at times so she remembers that. It may seem harsh but I don't think it's particularly unusual.
Is MOMO sick? How old s he? How long do silverbacks usually live?

He looks ok,u'll know when he's ill. Gorilla can live to 50-70 years and they live longer at zoo.

Momo grew up without a father, I think he is doing well considering he had no male guidance.
Thank god they didnt add that stupid circus music! Its better hearing the natural sounds. Momo is a jerk. He doesnt let anyone eat.
Agree about the music 100% 👍🏾 but Momo is doing what many captive Gorillas do, he is ok.

If you knew of his past history, you’d have an understanding of some of his behaviors but that being said their society is based on hierarchy and as the Silveback his behavior is normal he gets most of the food. It’s not a case of him being a jerk that’s a human label and you must remember he’s an animal an his behavior is based on instinct

@@AlinaWhitfield0510 come on lmao. Looks like you watch gorilla videos. Then you know damn well that silverbacks are selfish creatures by nature. All adult gorillas are. Sharing is not a concept they grow up learning, unlike humans.
They of course protect their kids, but they do in fact put themselves first. Gorillas are very nasty when it comes to food. I have seen momo injure genki over food. Ive seen d’jeeco attack both his wives over food. Thats just what they do. They are jerks by nature. They are all this way out in the wild.
And gorillas are calm compared to chimps. Ive seen videos of chimps kill their own family members over food. They are vicious primitive animals.
