I just had real writers block and even though I know about time signatures and how to use them your video somehow opened my eyes with some inspiration. Thank You, Rob!
wowww I really enjoyed this tutorial, it is really clear, inspiring, the perfect introduction to odd time signatures. Thank you so much Rob, you always surprise me!
Really cool suggestion for an odd time song: CHON - No Signal. At 0:27, the guitar starts the main riff. Counted in sixteenths, it is felt as 9 9 9 5. At about 0:42, the drums begin to follow the same feel. Then the coolest part, at 1:15 the drums begin to play 4/4 over the top of the entire thing. Because 9+9+9+5=32, he can plan simple time over the top and it all syncs back up at the start of the loop again.
