@@mrllblasi both great places…although I’m a little biased towards Charleston ;) If you need me to set up a personalized search or want recommendations on areas/neighborhoods just shoot me a quick email. Happy to help! Bill@livinginchs.com
Great point on 2nd home (non-primary) taxes. We really get banged on our condo which we rent out. Taxes were about 7k, but since we bought it in 2021, they assess you based on the sale price, so now it’s about 8600. Something to consider. Primary residents get a killer deal in SC, even on their “McMansions” near the beach.
Our last home I forgot to apply for the primary tax rate. My wife wasn’t too happy when she saw the tax bill 😂😂 Luckily I was able to get it changed, but by that time the line at the county tax office was LOOOONG.
We would love to visit Charleston to check it up our retirement home, and we are planning a trip in May-Jun.
EXCELLENT, very educational to help make an informed decision on the neighborhood community we will be living. Thank you!
My pleasure! Let me know how I can help. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any and all questions.
Retiring in April and Charleston is on our list of places we will visit to buy our forever home!

Thank You Bill for providing great content! Always informative.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Our home is currently listed… Charleston sounds like an amazing retirement destination.
It truly is! Where else are you thinking of ending up?
We’ll end up in either the Charleston area or perhaps Bluffton/Hilton Head… we review the listings daily.

@@TheBillOlson oh man haha. Big blunder 6% vs 4%.
@@timothybilsky3023 yup! Nearly $7000 tax bill was a shock.
@@TheBillOlson Ugh, yeah. Although I have one brother who pays over 10k here for his newer build. Ouch
