Charleston is expensive AF and the traffic is awful for such a small town. Granted, the tax bill is small but I have no idea what happens to the the tax money I do pay. Schools? nope. Roads? nope.

I agree! Being from New York, the mild winters are a real plus! I'm a REALTOR® as well, great work educating the people about this great area of the country!

Wife and I have only been here for two years now but we love it. We live in North Charleston and the traffic coming and going to Summerville can get in the way. But we learned if you want to go anywhere just go on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Otherwise no complaints, and the folks are friendly.

So I visited the city last week. The city is gorgeous with one of the largest examples of restored and preserved homes. I heard a lot about the crime, but we were off Ashe and spring…. Seemed fine!

One of the pros you missed was architecture 🏰 That's one of the things I love about Charleston. It made me consider moving there.

Also, it has great restaurants! My favorite's are Fleets Landing and Mason Jar by Fat Boys.

my dad used to have a house on sullivan's island. great house. I think it was either demolished or rebuilt due to its age, sometime in the past 10 years.

There’s so much money out there people will buy an old house just for the land so they can build something else.

Hey Bill, how about doing a vid on the neighborhoods of Charleston and the average property values of each.

I will look into it. I haven’t done one because prices were changing so fast.

This is not normal. O don't want that reality...we in Vilnius have 58 parks...39 of them are forests and huge spaces...where you can do what you want. Every eldership has 2 at least. Every is for free

In short answer, no not anymore. Stay home. It's getting worse just like most areas that were "once good".

Cons: unfortunately crime. If you live in a rough neighborhood, you might as well leave your car unlocked and take your valuables out every night. It at least saves you the cost of the broken window… I live down near the medical district now, and it’s MUCH better, no issues.

What do you consider “rough” neighborhoods?

My gf and I are considering the area as a possible long term location. When I've looked online at realtor, zillow, redfin, etc., value seems not so much. I am a Tampa, FL native but do like a little bit cooler winter versus 80 degrees in February. Pensacola, FL where I spent 7 years gets a little cooler..hard to choose between N. Alabama (Huntsville/B'ham), burbs of Nashville, Charleston/Savannah, FL? We're torn.

Charleston definitely gives a good mix of weather without dealing with months of snow. Median values between the different areas range from $310k to over $4m on the beaches. Check out my latest video for a pricing breakdown. When are you planning on making a move?
