Just wanted to say a huge thank you for this pedal. To say it’s incredible would be selling it short. The range of sounds and its interaction with other pedals is outstanding. I’m blown away by how good it is. AIC sounds, definitely; metal and hard rock go for it; blues no problem; and just on the edge of breakup, sure why not. What I wasn’t expecting, having tried it with humbuckers then P90’s, was the tones from single coils - it even managed a very accurate Brian May sound. I have been trying to recreate his sound for years! The pedal itself it is better made than some I have at twice the price. An absolute bargain, thanks again.

Monday is payday and I'm getting one of these. As much as I enjoy his lead playing (Man In the Box and Them Bones are 2 of my favourite guitar solos) for me its Jerry's riffs that really grabbed me and as a predominatly rhythm player myself I find his tone on those early AIC albums to be exactly what I'd like to tap into. Bluesy without being dad rock, gritty without being muddy. You've done an incredible job of being able to put it in a stomp box. Also want to say that along with Mike from the Art of Guitar you've made one of my favourite guitar channels on RUclips. The stuff I play myself is in that grungey/stoner/doom/sludge arena and you feature a lot of that stuff so very much a channel that I can learn a lot from.

This may be an noob question, but I have a tube amp head how would I use this without getting the tones from the amp head? I just want the sound of the pedal and not combine it with the tone of my head. The pedal sounds great! Thanks!
@@Am_1Demon I’m using a tube amp head with this pedal mate, but I have the head set just on the edge of breakup (so not totally clean) so you should be fine going straight into your head unless you have a high gain single channel head I guess?
Came home from work last night to find my 6 year old daughter and partner listening to Alice. Knowing my partner’s not a big fan, I had to ask why. Turns out one track of theirs came on the playlist and my daughter had demanded more. We listened to 90 glorious minutes of them. And now the algorithm sends me this. It’s fate
@@marmelaki no my Morgan MVP66 but we developed it using a bunch, Victory, Boss katana etc. I left all the Morgan settings the same throughout the vid 🤘
@@seigneurfred666 for all the AIC ones I’m using Jerry’s std tuning which is entire guitar down 1/2 step and some are then in a drop d version of that. I think Slipknot ones are drop C, then a mix of std and drop d. One tool one is low e string down to B 😊🤘
Glad you think so too! It's meant to cover a range of Jerry's tones (and other bands beyond that) but the initial goal was to nail the Dirt tones, specifically Them Bones and we went from there. Jerry's recorded tones on that album for the most part was a Bogner Fish preamp (bottom end), a Bognor Ecstasy (middle frequencies), and a Tom Scholz Rockman (upper frequencies). He used a similar setup for Facelift but that was a a Bogner-modded Marshall JCM800 (bottom end), a Randall 2x12 combo (middle frequencies), and a Tom Scholz Rockman (upper frequencies). Then Dave Jerden would mix the tones throughout the albums. But we just went after the end result rather than the component parts
Kinda sounds a bit like an MXR Distortion+ running into a Marshall? I'm not usually super-interested in pedals trying to emulate a specific band, but have to admit this does sound pretty good on its own terms. If there's ever a sexy hot pink colourway like the 1991, I'd be pretty tempted! 😛
Great demo. As I was listening it occurred to me that my MXR Super Badass Distortion could cop a lot of these tones. Then I realized that the control layout is nearly identical. Is this based on that pedal? Don’t mean to give offense, genuinely curious.
@@Unusednickname_1970 no it’s not based on any existing circuit. With all our collabs Andy starts with a blank slate and tinkers with op amps and we build from there, with the end tone as our guide. People do ask “I wonder what it’s based on” but genuinely we don’t work that way. I think a lot of new pedals start with a known circuit and tweak and tweak from there, so I understand the question 🤘😊

Jerry's recorded tones on that album for the most part was a Bogner Fish preamp (bottom end), a Bognor Ecstasy (middle frequencies), and a Tom Scholz Rockman (upper frequencies). He used a similar setup for Facelift but that was a a Bogner-modded Marshall JCM800 (bottom end), a Randall 2x12 combo (middle frequencies), and a Tom Scholz Rockman (upper frequencies). Then Dave Jerden would mix the tones throughout the albums. But we just went after the end result rather than the component parts
Kinda sounds a bit like an MXR Distortion+ running into a Marshall? I'm not usually super-interested in pedals trying to emulate a specific band, but have to admit this does sound pretty good on its own terms. If there's ever a sexy hot pink colourway like the 1991, I'd be pretty tempted! 😛

As I was listening it occurred to me that my MXR Super Badass Distortion could cop a lot of these tones. Then I realized that the control layout is nearly identical. Is this based on that pedal? Don’t mean to give offense, genuinely curious.
@@Unusednickname_1970 no it’s not based on any existing circuit. With all our collabs Andy starts with a blank slate and tinkers with op amps and we build from there, with the end tone as our guide. People do ask “I wonder what it’s based on” but genuinely we don’t work that way. I think a lot of new pedals start with a known circuit and tweak and tweak from there, so I understand the question 🤘😊

Where does the distortion come from? Just the clipping diodes or is the circuit designed to push an opamp into clipping?
It's an opamp based circuit so the grunt is coming from that - feel free to email andy@funnylittleboxes.co.uk for any more detailed asks on the circuit, just be aware he's closed for xmas hols at the mo
