I love this song. Ballads such as "Atena no nai tegami," "Sasame Yuki ," and "sabaku no komoriuta" are the quintessence of Wagakki Band.

wagakki band is always so incredible. they are all top masters of their art. and yet everybody can leave his ego behind to create something wonderful, that is greater than the sum of them all. and yuko is up there with floor for me.

Literally the song title means "Letter With No Addressee". This was filmed at Tokyo Garden Theater (where Band-Maid played recently) in Oct. 2020. That was a mini-tour as I recall, Tokyo and Nagoya and Osaka-very common mini-tour for Japanese bands. . . . Song written by vocalist Yuko Suzuhana. She said that it reflects the desperation and depression of people who live in the big city. . . . This band is schooled. Yuko, for instance, is an awarded master ("shihan" 師範) in "shigin" (詩吟), which is the art of performing classical Chinese and Japanese poetry with a melodic recitation. She's also trained in a type of dance with either a fan or a sword that often accompanies shigin. She further has a degree in piano performance from the Tokyo College of Music.

Other vocalists belt, but Yuko soars. Machiya remains the most underrated guitarist out there possibly because of his restraint. The synergy between them in this and many other songs where one will rise up to meet the other is one of the things that keeps me believing that we are capable of greatness.

Such fantastic atmosphere! There's a lot of Japanese singers I like, but Yuko is my favorite. She has the best combination of control, consistency, range, power, and emotion. It doesn't hurt that she's a fantastic performer, songwriter, and pianist and always looks great on stage.

I want to see Yuko and Asami do something together. That would be a dream come true for me.
Lovebites needs to try and get Yuko and Beni to perform on one of their songs. They wouldn't be able to perform that song live, but I would love to have it on an album. Maybe a ballad in the style of "Frozen Serenade".

They are a class act. This is a great favourite of mine, particularly the atmosphere the traditional instruments bring to the song, quite haunting in a way.
As for who came up with the concept for the band, you need look no further than their singer Yuko, she wanted to make the Japanese instruments interesting to a wider audience.
Fun fact. From 2020, during the pandemic and since, the Japanese government allowed live performances so long as social distancing was observed, masks were worn and there were no vocal applause from the audience.

I'm Japanese, so I can understand what they say, but I can't immediately understand the deep meaning that this lyrics is trying to convey because it requires interpretation. The same goes for other Japanese people. As a recent fan, I read many of their interviews and learned that Yuko wrote about ``Letter with No Address'' with the image of people living in Tokyo's Kabuki Town (a chaotic red light district). I was shocked. And for the first time, I feel like I was able to understand the deep meaning of the lyric. Both people and countries have a dark and sad side that is different from the beautiful side they try to show to the outside world. Even so, the people who gather there, despite their various circumstances, live desperately with a fate they cannot resist. Once again, I was able to learn about Yuko's insight into society and the depth of her lyric writing ability.

It's a song that shows the characteristics of the Japanese style of arrangement: complex chord progressions and flowing connections, sung in a restrained tone and characteristic Japanese singing style.

Other commenters had already covered the band's concept musically. Visually, the band was influenced by Visual Kei early on and evolved from there, in the Sept 6 Inteview at Anime Corner: " Wagakki Band - Creating New Japanese Culture Through Music", Yuko mentioned when she recruited Kurona, Daisuke and Kiyoshi, those 3 were working with various bands in the Visual Kei and rock scene. She also found a fan of one their bands who was a sewing hobbyist and that fangirl still makes the Wagakkiband costumes. In the interview Yuko also mentioned that their old label, the head of it was a big Visual Kei guy and he pushed them one way while Yuko, who's a J-pop kinda gal, tried to steer another way before they reached a compromise.

During the pandemic they had a rule that the audience couldn't sing/yell/vocalize in order to help prevent spreading the virus. I'm sure they would have reacted louder under normal conditions
