Machiya is such a talented artist. I saw or read interview where Yuko said she trusts Machiya totally without any reservations as far as arrangements, even on songs that she herself composed and wrote the lyrics for. From what I remember, he did most of the arrangements for the songs for this concert.....and maybe all of them. I know he wrote the arrangement for their version of "Bring Me To Life" with Amy Lee. Such a talented artist. I saw several video's on Beni Ninagawa's channel about gigs they did together while Yuko was recovering from the birth of hers and Kiyoshi's daughter. They made a good team, and Beni has a pretty nice voice also.

Thank you again for reacting to WGB. I want more people to know about the musical versatility and diversity of this band.

Although I am Japanese, I have recently become the deep fan of Wagakki Band. While listening to the songs of this mysterious and miraculous band every day, I also research their history. Machiya is very interesting: He had a radical rock band in his 20s, and his appearance was also very radical. I could never have imagined that he would compose such songs and lyric, but this shows just how wide-ranging his talents are. A woman from ellegant class family who was learning the basics of classical music, and the young man who had the somewhat radical rock band with his friends in a rural town. Somehow they met and created the amaging fusion. And they are inspiring many people not only in Japan but around the world. I think this was a truly wonderful miracle and a happiness to us. Including, of course, the remaining six geniuses. (If this is strange English, sorry.)

I gather the guitarist, who is Machiya I believe, was/is one of Japan's top session musicians. He is certainly superbly talented and can play over a wide range of styles and techniques. Two superb artists making it seem so easy but that it was talent does.

WGB is such an awesome and versatile band! This song is already beautiful but this version takes it on another level, so soothing.
I believe this song is from the concert they did with a full orchestra "A symphonic night" or something like that. Like there's not enough instruments in the band it's too easy for the sound engineer so let's play with a full orchestra lol 😜

_ Yes, I think WGB is among the best fusion bands ever existed, and the very best when it comes to originality and showmanship.

The lyrics are absolutely phenomenal and tell you the story in such haunting and almost hurtful detail that you cannot keep from shedding tears, especially when there is seemingly no reason for each to walk away. The same goes for the lyrics to Nijiro Chou Chou, Izana, Okinotayuu, Hana Ichi Monme, Ame Nochi Kanjouron and several others. Just amazing. And I almost forgot my favorite song by WGB and Yuko, Sabaku No Komoriuta, which is the most beautiful song I have ever heard.

Thanks for this reaction. Sometimes it's difficult to wrap my mind around just how much talent Japan has. I know there are some talented musicians here in the US, but I think we missed out by defunding music in a lot of schools over the last 30 years.

for me, i'm not surprised at all with this chord progression, because so many bands in Asia try to play Japanese chord progression (advanced chord) than american chord progression (root chord) but yeah i really love this type of sound, It's childhood memory for us all the Asians who listened to Japanese music in the 90's and 00's
side note:no offense to american, I also listen to american music in the 90's and 00's but it's hard to find this kind of sound in mainstream so I and my friends go back to japanese sounds sometimes

No offense taken at all. I'm an American in my mid 70's who has been following music since the late 1950's and have heard it all. The talent and product coming out of Japan is limitless. I had been into Japanese rock with the 5, 6, 7, 8's all the way back when they were in Kill Bill and loved what I was hearing. Then there was Show-Ya at the beginning and several others. Then I kind of fell off for a while until about 6 years ago, when I happened to see the music video for Kishikaisei by WGB posted on Facebook, and I was instantly hooked. Ever since then, it's been nonstop....WGB, Baby Metal, SCANDAL, Band-Maid, Aldious, Doll$$Box, Nemophila and a host of others. Then came Yoyoka, who has enthralled me and Li-sa-X and so many other talented artists. The best music now is coming out of Japan. I saw Band Maid twice on their 2022 US tour and hope to go to Japan to see them on their home court. Another thing I found out along the way was how big the American surf rock band The Ventures have been in Japan. They were always one of my favorite groups back then.

This is a different version of the original, which is acoustic too but with shakuhachi (flute) and koto (harp), where Machiya doesn't sing and the guitar solo he is doing there, here Yuko played on the piano. They have another duet from this concert, the song "Ame nochi kanjouron" which is more uplifting if we must compare it to this one. Also, there were subtitles on the video you reacted to.

As much as it pains me to think about Wagakki is my #1 band to see from Japan. Even ahead of Band Maid. It would be such a unique experience

Wave, you are very impressed with the beauty of their singing. My first love was opera until I discovered Band Maid. I suggest that you try listening to some Puccini and Mozart arias, male and female. It is not Kanami and Saiki, but the talent and ability is mind bending.
